Excellent Product!
I don't always write product reviews, but when I do it's because I'm either very impressed with the product or slightly annoyed. In this case, I was compelled to leave a positive review after my experience with the ActiveWrap products. I bought a set of knee pads for my left and right knees. The pads arrived quickly and nicely packaged. They even come with a little drawstring nylon bag to keep everything together. After taking a close look at everything I was very pleased to see that the construction of the knee wrap was top notch. The materials felt very nice to the touch and there were no loose threads or any irregularities. The knee wrap appears to be very well constructed. After repeated uses, the velcro is holding up nicely and the area to which the velcro clings to does not exhibit any pilling as I have experienced with lower quality knee pads. All of the stitching seems strong and well done so I expect this to be quite durable. As far a comfort goes, I found the wrap to be very comfortable. The gel inside the wrap attaches via velcro to the wrap and prevents it from shifting or moving around. This is a very nice touch as it keeps the gel firmly in place and allows you to walk around without the pad slipping around. Speaking of the gel pad, you get 2 pads per wrap. This comes in handy because you can have a spare ready in the freezer once the one you're wearing begins to get warm. I like how the material inside the pad does not shift around like most other gel pads. This is also a much better design than cold packs that involve frozen liquids such as water since those get very rigid or hard. These gel pads get cold but remain very flexible so they conform to the shape of your knee or whatever you have them on. Overall, I feel that this is an excellent product and I would highly recommend it. The knee wraps and gel pads are durable, well constructed, and comfortable. Great job ActiveWrap!

Quality Wrap!
This brand has the best wraps! I bought the larger wrap years ago for my back that I was also using on my shoulder and, more recently, knee but it was too big. When I saw this knee wrap and compared it to others, this one delivered. It has been such a huge help for my MLC injury. I definitely recommend this brand for wraps.

Best Portable Cold Therapy on the Market!
I found a video review of ActiveWrap products on YouTube when perusing Knee Replacement Rehab suggestions. The Physical Therapist (with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy) reviewed a large variety of portable joint wrap products, and ActiveWrap was determined to be the best, largely due to the duration of cold that the wrap provides with continuous use, and the fact that it was designed by a Physical Therapist with all of the necessary features of a superior product. That was a good enough testimonial for me to make a purchase and put it to the test. I had one of my knees replaced recently, and in addition to aggressive PT, elevation, and rest, the ActiveWrap Knee Wrap was instrumental in getting me to -2ยฐ extension and 125ยฐ+ flexion, 2 weeks post-op of my TKA. These wraps maintain an incredible level of COLD for 2 or more hours. Once I began outpatient PT (4 weeks post-op), I brought the ActiveWrap Knee Wrap in to show my Physical Therapist. After wearing the wrap for 45 minutes prior to my appointment, she was amazed at how cold it was! This is the first knee wrap that will not fall down around my ankle with active use, even with slippery synthetic sweat pants on. Both the compression and adjustability are exceptional. By using more or fewer cold packs (which stick to the neoprene wrap using Velcro), you are able to target the cold at a specific area of your joint, or you can bathe the entire joint in bone-chilling cold! It feels absolutely wonderful and beats rotting your digestive system with high doses of NSAIDS. When I wanted to purchase some extra Microban cold-pack sleeves, Customer Service and Sales were extremely quick to respond to my e-mail and were incredibly helpful. I cannot recommend Active Wrap products, and the Active Wrap company, strongly enough! You won't be disappointed!

Perfectly designed cold & heat wraps
These are the perfect wraps for sport injuries, recovering from surgeries and just occasional aches and pains - I now ones for wrist, elbow, knee, back & hip. First instead of having to store a big wrap in your freezer you need only to put the inserts in to the freezer which saves a ton of space. I'm able to store 4 small (hand/wrist and elbow), 3 medium (knee and back) and one large (hip) in the space of about one large wrap. Second these remain very pliable which helps in forming a nice, comfortable cold area - yet the exterior seems quite sturdy to prevent tears or leaks. Third, the high quality neoprene wraps are comfortable and make it easy to secure to what ever body part you need to treat. Fourth, because you slip the insert into a sleeve in the neoprene wrap, you don't need to bother with a towel or anything else between the cold insert and your skin - the insert offers just enough so that the cold isn't painful but not so much that you can't feel the cold. I'm using one right now on my elbow. Haven't used them for heat yet but I expect them to be just as good for warmth as they are for cold.

Great Wrap - Buy Large for post surgery
I really like this wrap. It's super cold (I recommend putting layer between you & the wrap), the cold lasts awhile (much longer than most), and provides compression. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 is that I wish the Velcro started sooner on the wrap than it does. I bought the small, but I should've bought a large. I had knee surgery and the small barely fit around my leg with it wrapped (but the cold did get through the bandages!), even now that it's unwrapped, my knee's still a bit too swollen for the wrap to fit fully around (there's lots of Velcro, but mine latches to the very end of it). Overall, it's a great wrap, but if you have knee surgery, I'd definitely recommend buying the large! (To give you an idea, my knee itself prior to surgery was 13 inches, while the thickest part of my thigh was 22, so the small would be perfect for my pre-surgery knee.)

Lots of cold, but falls off when walking
PROS: -This product offers a lot in terms of applying cold to the knee joint. (or heat, but that wasn't my goal) You can use one or two cold packs side-by-side. If you use two, then you probably need some buffer material between the very cold ice packs and the knee. Whereas with one ice pack the wetsuit material folds over the ice pack and so the ice is not directly on the knee. With two packs you can get great coverage. I ordered a L/XL (18-20") for my measurement of 19". The cold coverage with two packs covers the sides and front of the knee - all the way around except for the tender back of the knee. -The velcro bands are very secure - they don't pop open. -Regarding heat - I also ordered the wrist brace from this same brand/company, and have used those smaller packs for heat. They heat up very quickly (careful!) and hold heat well. I used the method of covering them with water in a small casserole dish and microwaved for 1 minute. CONS: -Between the velcro bands at top and bottom, the sides kind of gape open in the middle. Not bad, but not really fitted either. -When I walk around (even just to the kitchen or bathroom and back to the couch) the ice pack slides down my leg. I have tried tightening the velcro straps. I tried arranging the straps in a criss-cross pattern, which was interesting but didn't help hold up the ice pack on my leg when walking. So this is not as useful as I'd hoped.

Comfortable, effective wrap.
I'm giving this a full 5 stars because overall, the product deserves this as it's the best I've found for comfortably icing down knee area. There are a couple of minor things to be aware of though. The Good: * You can secure it well enough that if you have to move around with it, you can and it won't slip off, even if you bump it a bit with crutches. * It's reasonably comfortable. Thick material, but not too thick, not too much pressure, etc. Things where you have to adjust a bit: * The ice pouches themselves have a sleeve where you can put the ice pack into either sleeve to control the temperature a bit. This does work, but even using the two barriers, there were times I felt it was still a little too cold. This is of course a personal thing though. Sometimes it's fine; other times a bit much. This could be part my injury, part how long they've been in freezer, etc. But here's the thing... this is ok because it's simple to solve by adding a thin cloth or something to the ice pack sleeve. This is much better than if you had something too thick and not cold enough. I've actually only had to do this once, so I think it was more my injury tolerance that day than anything else, but the point is, you can adjust it. * The straps are pretty long and if you're hurt it can be a little bit of a stretch to secure them. But... again, as above, this really isn't so much a negative because the end result is a secure ice pack. My personal issue was/is also I'm right on the edge of the sizes available. A little too big is better than too small here because you can wrap something a little larger tighter, but too small just won't work. Once they're on and the velcro is all set, these stay in place. End Result? I've got a few ice pack solutions because I'm getting older, but still play some sports and contact sports and get damaged a bit. Right now I've got multiple fractures in lower leg and icing down helps me even more than aspirin, etc. And this thing is doing the job best right now.

I love that it comes with two packs in which you ...
Stop your search for an ice wrap for your knee and buy this one! I went through ACL+meniscus surgery on my left knee and needed an ice pack to help with the swelling and pain. I love that it comes with two packs in which you can freeze one and use the other for heating. Easy to use. I have found that a glass casserole dish that is big enough for one side of the pack to be completely (I use a 9x9 in) submerged in water is ideal because the edges that aren't submerged while in the microwave can get super hot and you could burn yourself. That and the heat won't be evenly distributed once applied to your knee and could cause injury. I say again, get a dish that will allow the pack to be completely submerged on one side if you choose to heat. The velcro is very durable and the fit of the brace is great. Make sure to have a thin towel or cloth handy to protect your skin from the freezing cold or heat of the pack. There are pouches you put the packs in that velcro to the brace but for me it's not enough to protect your skin. You might not be willing to spend $50 on this, but don't be cheap. What is recovery, comfort and mobility in your knee worth??? A small price to pay in my opinion. (Note, the packs I am talking about that I got with my brace were black and were just smaller than the dimensions of an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. Not sure if they changed the included packs or not since I bought it a bit ago, 2014). Please take note if this review was helpful for you.
