Got my best buddy from the shelter 15 years ago and now he is battling arthritis mainly in his hips. Very slow getting up and barely lifts his back feet off the ground when walking. I had tried a vet recommended liquid form of glucosamine in another brand but the diarrhea was horrible. After reading reviews I thought I might try again and ordered these supplements. I received on time and gave him one. After about 3 hours he had squirting diarrhea but then it went back to normal that evening. Today I gave him 1 in the am and 1 in the pm with no diarrhea yet. He is approx 45 lbs so this is below the recommended dose but after a day and a half, he can get up quicker and actually trot without dragging his hind legs! I have deer and rabbits in my yard on a daily basis and they have become complacent when I let him out because they have learned he can't run after them. Tonight, one particular rabbit got the fool scared out of him because my 15 yo took out after him! He's never going to get close to one like he used to, but at least he now feels like he can!My fellow is a very picky eater and did not like these on their own. They can be easily crumbled up and put in food. They are very soft and easily destroyed so be very careful while handling. If the diarrhea returns, or if it is just a fluke, I will update.As with many others on here, I hate to see reviews from people that did not buy the product, so just to confirm I did not receive anything free or get other compensation.Update 26 Apr 17: I had to completely take my dog off of the dailies for about a week to stop the diarrhea. During that time he became so stiff, had great difficulty in getting up, and just acted...old. Such a change from when he was taking the dailies so I thought I would try to introduce them again slowly. I started giving him 1 a day for a few days and then two a day. He has now been on two a day for about two weeks with no digestive issues. If it returns, I will stop and let his digestive tract calm down. He can now get up with almost no effort, walks much better without any limps, and just acts like he feels better. The difference this product makes is remarkable. If your pet's digestive tract can tolerate this product, I can't recommend it high enough.

My mixed breed 12 year old dog had surgery on his left leg after tearing ligaments and tendons when he was 7 years old. Surgery cost $4,500 and the leg took about 6 months or so for him to be able to walk normal with the left leg. The surgeon had advised that most likely the right leg would end up needing surgery in a year or so. Luckily, my dog had no problems with either leg until 3 years later. EDIT: While these are great for both of my dogs joints and over-all joint improvement was seen, it has unfortunately caused a severe skin irritation in one of them. My other dog is completely fine. I'm not sure what exactly is causing the irritation (which includes itching, flaking, shedding, and over-all less healthy looking coat), but it is only affecting one of them. Seeing that it only affects one of them, and that it works great for the intended purpose,with unfortunate side-effects, it still remains a good product for what it is intended for.I do recommend caution, and giving it about three to four weeks before committing long term, just in case your pup has a skin reaction too. I would still recommend these for most people and their pups, it just had a bad reaction for one of mine.I have two dogs over 70 lbs each who are going into their "middle years" and were beginning to show signs of discomfort and pain in movements, specifically going up and down the stairs or getting up from their beds. I've gotten a second bottle of these now and have every intention of continuing to purchase them, as within the first 2 weeks they began running up and down the stairs chasing each other and playing again. Definitely will be continuing to buy these for them, and would eagerly recommend for anyone else as well.

A little about my dog: She's a lab/german shepard mix and now nine years old. About a year ago I noticed her start to limp on her front legs. Our 75 lb boxer mix has been taking these daily for about 5 years now. We started giving them as a preventative measure since other big dogs we have had have eventually experienced joint issues - and how products with similar ingredients really helped. Our current dog is doing very well and seems very healthy. It's difficult to tell how much this product contributes to that but I'm thinking it is a positive factor. We had been using Cosequin DS Chewables Plus tablets for years for both of our black labs. We would purchase ether at Amazon or Costco. In the last 8-10 months or so we noticed these tablets no matter where we purchased the tablets, they were going off/getting stale creating digestive issues for both the dogs. I Don't know why. It took a while to find the source of the digestive problem. The tablets are stored in a cool dry cabinet, the same place they have been for years. We would buy one bottle at a time on Amazon thinking they would be fresher after several were bad from Costco. However, no such luck. I am not sure if they changed the recipe or something in the product, but I know for sure multiple sources over multiple orders would go off/stale. We searched for alternatives, found these Doggie Dailies, and so far they are great and appear to be a very high quality product. In general our dogs have never had a problem eating any pill or tablet we just hand them as a treat and they eat them. We normally put the glucosimine tablet in their dry kibble. These Doggie Dailies look like kibble/food. They even smell like a source of food versus the tablets. I think Doggie Dailies would work very well as a source or method of providing glucosamine for a picky dog who does not want to eat tablets or any other type tablet. Our two labs are approximately 60 lbs and are very fit/lean hunting bird dogs and family dogs. Per instructions they require 4 pieces of the dog dailies each per day (so roughly 56 days supply per dog) So roughly 28 cents a day per dog versus 1 tablet a day for the Cosequin at roughly 23 cents a day per dog. I am not going to compare each of the ingredients in detail both have sources of MSM etc... I am not a nutritionist or vet so I am not qualified to review all the contents or sources. I can tell you we strive to keep our 8 and 10 year old half brother black labs healthy, lean and fit. Their coats are radiant and both dogs are still very good hunters full of energy. We found these tablets after looking thru and comparing others. We are happy with these tablets. Our dogs digestive systems are back to normal after taking them off the Consequin (would be very gassy and could here their stomachs growling and the dogs were belching) which was not normal. We searched for the cause and found it to be the Cosequin DS Chewables when they would go off (within a week or two of purchase ). I no longer trust cosequin even after years of successful use. Hopefully, they figure out what is going on with their products because I know so many people use them, but may not be aware of smelling the product or even knowing it has gone off/stale. We are very happy with these Doggie Dailies and will stick with them as long as they continue to provide the same or better nutritional needs and results. Time will tell how well they work. I will update this review if we notice any that would drop their 5 star rating.

I have been ordering these for well over a year and a half for my pit mix Gus. he always loved them and would eat them off the top of his food first before eating the rest of his food. They were like a treat to him. about 3 months ago I noticed he stopped eating them and would push them out of his bowl onto the floor then eat all his food. I found they work for him when he stopped eating them I didn't force him to eat them for a week or so. when he started limping again I started forcing him to eat them. It was this particular container that I noticed when I got down to what should have been 30 dailies left there were a lot that had turned into just crumbs and crumbled up pieces. I figured it was probably just a hard shipment or some random anomaly that caused the dailies to fall apart and crumble because for > a year I never had this problem. So I continued to use same product w/ the same flavor and it happened again and again. After the 3rd time I tried a different brand. So far I am only 1/2 way through the new container and Gus is doing fine with them and yes so far they do feel more sturdy (less likely to crumble). Its just very obvious that something changed in the recipe and the quality of the ingredients went down which I was very disappointed about. The flavor went down and there are at least 20 total that end up just being all crumbs in the bottom of the container. I don't know if you have ever tried to shove crumbs down a dogs throat but it doesn't work so I recommend putting them in cheesy eggs on the weekend to be able to use all of the dailies without wasting you money.

My dog is a high energy mix - Aussie/Retriever/Border Collie - and at age 4 the vet told me he saw some pockets on her spine (via an x-ray) that indicated she would have joint issues when she got older.
