Can you add this doing fermentation, even though it says "non-fermentable"? What exactly does that mean?

It is a sugar that yeast cannot transform into alcohol. You can add it at any time but different applications and recipes will dictate the best approach. You add non-fermentable sugars/sweeteners to beer/cider/etc. to sweeten them. Adding a fermentable sugar might just raise the alcohol level if yeast are present.
