What size is the train? G-scale?

Hi I am not sure but they are perfect size for my Christmas village the trains are about 3-4 inches in height and about 4-5 inches in length depending on the type of car hope this helps I have had them for 2 years now and I am very happy with them

I cannot find anywhere to place 3 AA batteries in the Starlight Express train set. Where specifically are these inserted?

The top part of the engine and the first car pops up and comes off in order to insert the batteries.

Can you turn off the sound?

Hello, when the train is running the sound is on, there is no switch to have the train running and the sound off. Item 44762 The Christmas Cable Car has a switch to turn the sound off and on when running, eHobbyTools

Is this train small, only made for a tabletop?

The approximate train size is: Approx. size (H x W x D) 4.92 x 44.49 x 25.59 inches 12.5 x 113 x 65 cm
