An excellent HDMI to HD-SDI frame rate converter, especially useful for getting a true 25P signal from mirrorless cams like the Sony A7SIII and FX3 which can only output 1080i or 1080PSF regardless of the internal record frame rate settings. When using in a multi-camera setup alongside native SDI cams like the FX6 / FX9 that CAN output true 25P, all plugged into a multi-channel recorders like the Atomos Sumo or Shogun 7 it means you don't have to switch the recording to 50P just to get the A7SIII / FX3 to show up. In the past I've used a Decimator MX-HD, which is great but fiddly to setup, whereas this HSV+ is a doddle, and the on-board screen is a huge bonus (even though it's a very basic LCD panel). I can't find any negative things to say about it - it just works. NOTE: the unit can run on 5-18v DC. the PSU that comes with the unit doesn't have a UK plug but it's rated at 12v 1.5a so it's pretty easy to find an alternative ( I use a spare 12v HDD PSU that work fine).

I provide production for all kinds of small and large events all over the world. I've carried many different converters over the years, Black Magic, Decimator, and DAC-70. The Lumantek is fantastic. It works exactly as expected. The scaler is spot on and having a display so I can 100% know that signal is getting where is should be and looks correct is worth every penny. I have both the HDMI-SDI and the SDI-HDMI versions. HIGHLY recommend.

I use a couple of older BlackMagic Design switchers and had been buying Decimators for frame rate and resolution conversion. As you know, SDI inputs on those BMD switchers have to match exactly. No 60 fps and 59.94 fps devices on the same switcher for example. In fact some of the other low cost HDMI to SDI boxes sold on Amazon will sneakily and wrongly convert 59.94 fps source to a 60 fps output. If you were expecting a 59.94 camera, you’ll get a blank screen on the BMD. So while this device is only HDMI to SDI, it does accurate and correct conversions for less money than the Decimator. Plus this comes with a display that also displays both input and output frame rate and resolution as well as a sample of the camera feed. Really nice.

Seems to be well made. The conversion to SDI with the ability to scale is first rate. The monitor is a great help for troubleshooting. The ability to add audio eliminates another piece of equipment. I'm quite pleased so far

For SDI conversion you could spend more and get less, this box is a Swiss Army converter. The sheer fact that there’s a screen built in, makes this a stand out.
