Excellent headphones for outdoors activities. Forget your charger as you won't need it!
The Philips headphones are a solid pick if you’re looking for a durable, outdoor-friendly pair that stays put even during a run. They feel premium in hand, made from sturdy materials that can take a beating, which is exactly what you’d want for headphones designed for active use. However, the on-ear design comes with a trade-off—while the firm clamp ensures they won’t fall off, it also means they can feel quite tight, especially if you wear them for long periods. If you’re just going for a quick jog, it’s fine, but for extended listening, it might start to get uncomfortable. One standout feature is the solar charging. Unlike some gimmicky implementations, this actually works well. I left them by the window (not even in direct sunlight), and the battery jumped from 65% to 80% in an afternoon. That’s pretty impressive and means you don’t always have to worry about plugging them in—perfect for those who often forget to charge their devices. In fact, I haven't charged these once after a month of ownership with daily use. Sound-wise, the headphones deliver good clarity with a balanced profile. They’re not bass-heavy like Beats but don’t sound thin either. However, they lack active noise cancellation, which is understandable given they’re made for running—ANC would be a safety hazard in outdoor environments. But this also limits their use; I tried wearing them in a noisy office, and without ANC, they struggled to drown out background chatter. If you need headphones for both workouts and work, you might want a separate pair for office use. One area where these truly shine is the microphone. I’ve taken calls with these while my kids were running around, making all sorts of noise, and the person on the other end couldn’t hear a thing besides my voice. That’s a rare quality for wireless headphones and makes them a great choice for taking calls on the go. Overall, the Philips headphones are excellent for outdoor activities, with durable build quality, secure fit, and great mic performance. The solar charging is a huge plus, but the tight fit and lack of ANC mean they may not be the most versatile option if you need an all-rounder.

Good cheap workout product
For the price, these are fine, but this means a fair number of flaws. The washable components are actually only the mesh. The foam and gel and not washable. After about an hour these become quite uncomfortable as the materials are fairly low quality and the design is pretty basic meaning a very generic shape and fit. Battery seems to hold ok for a few workouts and sound quality is good enough; don’t expect any noise cancelling. But for the price, I’m happy for these to get sweaty and punished during a workout.

A Solar-Powered Audio Powerhouse: The future of Headphones?
The PHILIPS TAA6219BK Solar headphones are a potential game-changer for fitness enthusiasts, those looking for comfortable running headphones or even just those of us who are always forgetting to charge our headphones. These innovative headphones harness the power of the sun (and artificial light) to extend battery life, making them perfect for long workouts and outdoor adventures. Key Features: Solar Charging: The integrated solar cells continuously charge the battery, ensuring extended playtime, especially during outdoor activities. They can even use artificial light, I've been using them for a week (3+ hours a day) and they've not dropped from 100%. Comfortable Fit: Designed for active lifestyles, these headphones offer a comfortable and secure fit, even during intense workouts. Having tried them whilst running I didn't have any issues with them slipping off, even in rain. Powerful Sound: Deliver crisp, clear sound with deep bass for an immersive audio experience. The companion app also lets you balance the sound if you want a different experience. Long Battery Life: With an 80-hour battery reserve, you can enjoy uninterrupted music for days. As mentioned this should be more than enough but the solar charging more or less makes this infinite! Bluetooth Connectivity: Seamlessly connect to your devices via Bluetooth for wireless freedom. Connecting was super easy (note you don't need the app to connect but it's worth getting to get the full experience). Overall: The PHILIPS Solar headphones are a fantastic choice for anyone who loves to stay active or just wants a comfortable and good sounding pair of headphones that don't need charging. The solar charging feature is a brilliant innovation that sets them apart from the competition, there's almost nobody else in the market doing this and nobody near this price! Their comfortable fit and impressive sound quality make them ideal for workouts, running, and other outdoor activities and whilst they don't noise cancel so won't be ideal for very loud environments I tried them on a London rush hour train and they still worked well. Of all the products I've reviewed this year this is probably the most innovative and I'd strongly recommend them to anyone (I even got a second pair for my wife!).

Solar powered = forget about the charger.
I’ve been using the Philips TAA6216BK headphones for a few weeks now, and I’m quite impressed! They offer a great balance of performance and design, making them a solid choice for everyday use. The standout feature is undoubtedly the solar charging—it’s a game-changer! I haven’t needed to plug them into a charger since I got them, as the built-in solar panel keeps the battery topped up effortlessly. This makes them incredibly convenient, especially for people who are always on the go. The battery life is also outstanding, lasting for hours even with heavy use, so there’s no constant worry about running out of power. The passive noise cancellation, while not as strong as active noise cancellation, still does a decent job of blocking out ambient noise. It helps create an immersive listening experience, especially in moderately noisy environments. In terms of build quality, these headphones feel durable and well-made. They have a solid, premium feel, and so far, I’ve had no issues with them. The sleek and modern design is a nice bonus, making them both practical and stylish. Summary The Philips TAA6216BK headphones are an excellent option for those looking for convenience, durability, and innovative features. The solar charging and impressive battery life make them stand out, while the passive noise cancellation adds to the overall experience. While they may not replace high-end ANC headphones, they deliver great value for the price. If you’re looking for a reliable and stylish pair of headphones, these are definitely worth considering!

Great but not easy to connect
When working they are fab and the sound crisp very comfy and just a great pair Of headphones, However for me trying to connect to my iPhone has been a task, It will take nine or ten attempts if I’m lucky and the connection fails, Power on pairing mode then says Bluetooth connected but sadly is not, Put it like this I brought a cheap pair of pods for work a fiver and they connect first time every time, Frustrating is the word as when connected they are great but it shouldn’t take me ten minutes to get connection,

Solar charging works surprisingly well
The solar charging works remarkably well – I’ve been using them regularly for over a week, and they haven’t needed a manual charge yet. Ideal for my morning runs or when I’m out gardening, as they simply recharge in the daylight. The battery life is excellent too, so even in the dull Scottish winter, they last a long time. The sound quality is solid – nothing astonishing, but clear and balanced enough for music and podcasts. They stay secure even during movement, and the ear cushions are comfortable, though after prolonged use, they can start to put a bit of pressure on the top of my head. The build feels sturdy, and I appreciate the cooler ear pads that aren’t faux leather, meaning they won’t peel over time. A solid choice if you're after something durable, reliable, and mostly free from charging hassle.

good for summer sports, bad for everything else
I bought these specifically for the gel/cooling and washable ear cups, for running in the warmer weather. Standard leather style ear cups can get very sweaty and I hugely prefer overheads, for running, so I didn't want to switch to in-ear for the summer. From that perspective, these are perfect, no sweatiness at all, and even if there was then I can pop the cups in the wash and they'll be dry for my next run. So 5 stars for their intended purpose. Honestly, more headphones should have sport-friendly ear cups. From every other, and any other, perspective though, I wouldn't bother. They're not particularly comfortable so I wouldn't wear them for day-to-day stuff (I really wouldn't wear them for anything but running). The sound is a little too bass-y -though you get used to it, and again, for the purpose of running it's not a big issue. I would like a slightly higher volume, but that's more of a personal preference, it's good enough. They adjust from below, next to the ear cups, which is annoyingly fiddly and is best done before you put them on your head. They are generally not particularly very well made, I don't think I would chuck them in the bottom of my bag. They take way too long to turn on and off -no one needs to be holding a button down that long. Battery life seems pretty good, though I am only wearing them for an hour a day. They're pretty lightweight, the price is fine and I appreciate the jack connection. So 5 stars for the ear cups and summer running suitability. 2? for everything else

I'm so pleased I bought these headphones!
Really pleased with these headphones! They are comfortable and stay on my head well without moving around. This is my first time using Bluetooth wireless headphones.... What a revelation! I'm so glad I tried these! I use these headphones when out running, at night, down the country lanes where I live. At full volume, the sound is just right - no distortion (although any higher and I imagine there would be). There's a good range of sound. And I can still just about hear traffic... the lanes are quiet and I see the lights before I hear the cars anyway. I wouldn't recommend listening on full volume if you were to go running along the roads during daylight hours... But very late at night - it's great - listening to uplifting dance music, under the stars.... Connecting my phone to the headphones is really easy, and I can listen to Spotify. I can put my phone into my pocket and press 'next' or 'previous' buttons on the headphones themselves, which is really useful. Can't believe I've been struggling with MP3 players and wired headphones all this time until now! Don't know how long the battery lasts... But my route is 4 miles or so, and sometimes I do several of those throughout the week before I charge the headphones. I've never used up the battery. Also - I've worn these headphones in all weathers and not had any problems! Definitely recommended!

Most impressive
I’m absolutely astounded by these headphones. Good sound and an unbelievable battery life thanks to the Powerfoyle solar panel. I’ve been using them heavily for a year and not once have I charged them. Battery is still at 100%. Why don't all headphones have solar?

Amazing product
So far these are absolutely amazing. Like wearing nothing on my ears and the sound quality is perfect. I've worn them in the gym and outside trail running and they are perfect. Can't beat Philips
