Is this too old for an almost 2 year old who dresses barbies with her 5 year old sister ?

Well it does sound like your little two year old may enjoy this, however, I purchased this for my Granddaughter and she did not show a lot of interest in it. Now she is 4 and becoming more interested in Fashion and Barbie dolls she seem to be playing with it more. My first instinct would be a two year old would be too young. There are a lot of pieces to keep track of and small pieces.

Would this be good for a 4 hour plane ride with a 3 1/2 year old?

My granddaughter loves this and I bought it for her when she was 3. There are a lot of small pieces in this (which you could probably leave at home!) and the pink container it comes in is a pretty good size too. Once you remove the plastic wrap there is no top to it. But I suppose you could carry it all in a smaller container that can be closed and contained. The clothes do stay on pretty good.

I bought this set for a three year old, and my 17 year old granddaughter, my 16 year old grandson, my 10 year old granddaughter and I thoroughly enjoyed playing with them as well!
