I am a senior and like to walk on city streets. Have read that using hiking poles will help to give you an upper body workout along with lower. True?

I am not at that point yet. I am recovering from a hospital stay and use these (right now) primarily for balance. However, in future, I see a full swing upper body movement when striding along a nice walking path we have near our house. I don't see why you wouldn't get a good upper body workout by maximizing your swing/stride movements! These walking poles are wonderful in my opinion anyway. :)
