Review: The best official Instant Pot cookbook - If you were one of the lucky ones who bought an Instant Pot (aka IP) on Prime Day in July, like I did, congratulations. If you found, after taking it out of the box, that it's a little intimidating, join the club. There is definitely a learning curve with the IP but so worth the effort. I immediately went on the hunt for recipes to try and downloaded a bunch of *free* Instant Pot cookbooks. Let the buyer beware, *free* does not equal *good* - many of those books are poorly edited/translated and have serious errors. This is an 'official' Instant Pot cookbook and a very good one. I was warned that unless there is a picture of a real IP on the cover (copyright) it is not sanctioned by Instant Pot - this one is an official cookbook but it's so much more than just recipes. I usually purchase my books for Kindle (and there is an e-book version) but this one I bought in soft-back. For the price, under $10, it is definitely a must buy. This cookbook has everything you need to know to use your Instant Pot. The beginning of the book is an introduction to the Instant Pot, to pressure cooking and how to care for your pot. Even though a lot of this information may be found in the Instant Pot manual, the manual (which comes with the IP) is in 2 languages and, I think, is difficult to read. The middle of the book has recipes. Some recipes are more involved but many are recipes for cooking basic things (like Chicken Wings) which a newbie like me wanted to learn. Even after cooking for the better part of 45 years, figuring out the settings and times for cooking in the IP makes me feel like a novice. I made the chicken wings this weekend and, from frozen, were fast and delicious. There are recipes for soups, meats, and desserts. The end of the book has the cooking charts for meats, veggies and grains. The index makes it easy to find exactly what you are looking for (like those wings). I highly recommend this book, it has been the best purchase I made since getting my Instant Pot. [...] Review: Worth cost - Full of recipes! Cant wait to make most.

Good for Instant Pot beginner.
I purchased 2 cookbooks for the Instant Pot (IP). This one includes a chapter with information on the benefits of pressure cooking, step-by-step electric pressure cooking, how to use the IP, safety tips, converting your recipes, and cleaning and care of the pressure cooker. There are also 9 pages of charts about cooking times and such in the back of the book. The recipes in this book state the prep time and cook time separately; this makes it easier to see at a glance the time needed for each. The total cook time is also stated and includes the time required for the pot to come to pressure (pre-heat), and the time needed to de-pressurize. This is especially helpful when you are in a hurry and need to know at a glance how much time the whole recipe will require. The first page of each chapter lists all the recipes in that category, and there is an index of recipes in the back of the book. My only issue with this cookbook is the limited number of recipes (111 recipes) and most of the recipes are not ones that appeal to my family. However, this is a good cookbook for the first time IP user, which I was. I would just suggest also purchasing another cookbook with more recipes to choose from such as my second purchase, Instant Pot Cookbook 550 recipes for Every Day by Michelle Sanders. I find the two of these together to be the perfect combination.

Great for Reference & Here Are the Recipes
I know many reviewers praised the book for its instructions and information, yet didn't like many of the recipes. I was a little nervous to order because of that lack of enthusiasm but decided to buy it for the info (I'm new to the world of Instant Pot and pressure cooking). I definitely understand "to each their own" however, I haven't found many recipes I *wouldn't* make! Nearly all of them appeal to me in some way. Since I almost did not buy the book because of the bad reviews the recipes had, I thought I would list them here and then you can decide for yourself! Breakfast: Apple & Cinnamon Oatmeal, Savory Breakfast Porridge, Cinnamon-Raisin French Toast Bake, Soft-Boiled Eggs & Soldiers, Bacon & Egg Strata, Sausage & Cheese Frittata, Eggs in Purgatory with Eggplant; Vegetables: Steamed Artichokes with Dipping Sauce, Eggplant & Roasted Red Pepper Dip, Steamed Edamame with garlic, easy Egg Salad, Quick Zucchini Ratatouille, Charred Corn on the Cob, Corn Pudding, Sesame Bok Choy, Braised Cabbage, Sweet & Spicy Carrots, Beets with Goat Cheese, Spaghetti Squash with Parmesan & Pine Nuts, Root Vegetable Medley, Brown Butter Fingerling Potatoes, Horseradish Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes with Brown Sugar Topping; Beans and Grains: Chipotle Black Beans, Homemade Hummus, Chickpea Curry, No-Fry Refried Beans, Southern-Style Black-Eyed Peas, Lentils with Tomato and Pancetta, Creamy White Bean Dip, Super-Fast Red Beans and Rice, Mexican-Style Brown Rice, Brown Butter & Asparagus Risotto, Faster-than-Fast-Food Fried Rice, Quinoa Tabbouleh, Rustic Herb Stuffing, Whole-Wheat Creamy Mac & Cheese, Cheese Grits; Soups, Stews & Chilies: Vegan Black Bean Soup with Avocado Salsa, Fresh Tomato Soup, Creamy Cauliflower and Potato Soup, Thai-Style Corn Chowder, Creamy Broccoli & Leek Soup, One-Hour Matzo Ball Soup, Vietnamese Chicken Noodle Soup (Pho Ga), French Onion Soup, Butternut Squash & Sausage South with Crispy Sage, Sweet Potato, Sausage & Kale Soup, Lentil & Spinach Stew with Shrimp, Beef Stew with Mushrooms & Barley, Tuscan Chicken Stew, Lightning-Fast Veggie Chili, Chorizo Chili; Seafood & Poultry: Mussels with Shallots & White Wine, Crab Legs with Lemon & Garlic Butter Sauce, Low-Country Boil, Shrimp Scampi, Steamed Fish & Veggies, Green Chicken Enchiladas, Chicken Pot Pie, Greek-Style Chicken with Potatoes & Peas, Classic Chicken Wings, Chicken & Dumplings, Mushroom & Chicken Sausage Risotto, Quick Chicken Tikka Masala, Spiced Coconut Chicken & Rice, "Roasted" Chicken with Tomatoes & Mushrooms, Stuffed Turkey Breast, One-Pot Penne & Turkey Meatballs, Duck with Mushrooms & Onions; Beef, Lamb and Pork: Sunday Pot Roast, Barbecue Beef Brisket, One-Pot Past Bolognese, Five-Spice Boneless Beef Ribs, Corned Beef, Oxtail Ragu, Lamb Curry, Lamb & Feta Meatballs with Tomato & Olive Sauce, Baby Back Ribs, Pulled Pork, One-Pot Beans, Sausage & Greens, Teriyaki Pork Loin, Pork Fried Rice, Easy Hawaiian-Style Pork, German Sausages with Peppers & Onions; Dessert: Carrot Cake Rice Pudding, Molten Brownie Pudding, Little Pumpkin Puddings, Chocolate & Orange Bread Pudding, Key Lime Cheesecake, Peach and Blueberry Cobbler, Easy Apple Dumplings, White Wine-Poached Pears with Vanilla, Sea Salt Dulce de Leche; Stocks & Sauces: Homemade Chicken Stock, Vegetable Stock, Beef Bone Broth, Spicy Chicken Bone Broth, Homemade Ketchup, Sweet & Tangy Barbecue Sauce, Classic Marinara Sauce, Puttanesca Sauce, Broccoli Pesto, Onion Gravy, Mago-Apple Chutney, Cranberry Sauce, Cinnamon Applesauce, Orange & Lemon Marmalade, Triple-Berry Jam, Apple Butter

Great Recipes - EDIT: this book is okay
I got my Instant Pot as a Christmas gift and was SO excited to start using it.... and then I realized I had NO IDEA what I was doing. I took to Amazon and started looking for recipe books and fumbled on this one. I really like the recipes in this book! A couple of our favorites are the sausage and cheese frittata and the butternut squash and sausage soup with crispy sage. My boyfriend REALLY loves the butternut squash soup, which was a huge win for me because in the past he'd never touch anything that had butternut squash in it! EDIT 8/11/19 - I was initially really happy and excited with this book of recipes, but since trying more of them, my option had changed, and not for the positive. I donโt think itโs a terrible book, but it could use some revising. The timing that the author has put on the recipes is not correct in almost any all of the recipes- whether itโs the amount of time the recipe takes, or the actual cook time in one of the steps. Many of the recipes are quite bland, too... I mean really, really bland. The vegetarian risotto recipe tastes only of cream/butter; the spices in the chorizo chili completely disappear (I actually added a second portion of all of them after the chili was finished and we were so disappointed in the flavor); the chicken pot pie also seriously lacks flavor, not even having any spices listed as part of the recipe (I added a bay leaf and some thyme, parsley, and pinch of oregano). For the most part, things cool well, but the author should be more specific in ingredient requirements. Some recipes call for 2 or 3 of a meat item, without any specific amount listed, which is difficult to work with because a chicken breast (for example) can come in all different sizes. That coupled with the cooking time listed not always being right - more often than not, itโs not enough time - just makes cooking so time consuming and frustrating. Overall, the recipes give me inspiration, which is why this book is okay, but itโs not reliable. I canโt really recommend this book to anyone new to cooking as a whole, because it wouldnโt do them any good.

One of my favorite cookbooks!
I've bought a few IP/Pressure cooker cookbooks and this is by far my favorite one. I almost didn't buy it because some of the reviews said that the recipes were weird and there were only a few things in the whole book that the reviewer might make. I'm so glad I did and I feel so bad for people who I assume must only eat chicken wings and pot roasts, there are so many other things that the Instant Pot can do and this book does a great job of covering the broad spectrum and has plenty of common staples. Not only that but it's geared towards people like me who aren't the best chefs and are often in a hurry. I've made about a dozen or so of the recipes so far and every single one has been great. Many of the recipes are pretty easy to just leave out the meat too if you're cooking for non-meat eaters, or to sub in a different kind of meat if you're trying to eat a little healthier. Another great thing about this book is that it serves as a much better instruction manual than the one that comes with the Instant Pot. It does a great job of helping you conquer the learning curve if you're not used to pressure cookers. I do have two complaints - 1) There are no pictures of the dishes! I'd love some artwork accompanying the recipes so I know what the end result is going to be. 2) The time estimates are way off. I've found this to be true with all of the IP/Pressure Cooker cookbooks. Prep time is often 2-3 times what the author says. I'm guessing this is because they're a much more experienced chef than me and have a much bigger kitchen, but I also get the impression I'm pretty close to their target audience and that people who know more about cooking wouldn't need these estimates in the first place. The recipes could also do a better job of reflecting the actual amount of time that things take to cook. If I cook something under pressure for 5 minutes but it takes 15 minutes to get up to pressure and then has to do a natural pressure release for 35 minutes that should be included in the "total time" listed for the recipe. This seems to be a common trend with recipes in other books or that I find online. Now I've cooked enough that I know what to expect by reading the directions, but when I was starting out it was frustrating. New cooks - don't cook your first several meals while you're in a hurry, expect a bit of a learning curve and some delays.

A great starter cookbook for the Instant Pot.
I have used a pressure cooker for years, and purchased an Instant Pot model about 4 months ago. Loved it so much bought one for my sister and was looking for a simple cookbook for her that would help her to adjust to using the cooker since she is new at it. This is an ideal choice for the purpose! The beginning reviews some basics of pressure cooking, although not in specific detail other than tips like "thicken at the end" or when converting recipes reduce the water. But, the lack of specifity works for new users in that it simplifies the learning curve. The recipes are by and large excellent for clean eating and do not rely on highly processed food items, consequently you can be assured you are serving up healthy meals wicked fast. Additionally, the recipes offered are not just "redos" of options found everywhere. They are thoughtfully selected for the book, use common ingredients, and well written. They indeed are simply to follow! I love that the author tagged the recipes by cook times- ones done in under 20 minutes, family friendly, work week appropriate options, etc. Recipes look solid and tasty, and cook times look appropriate. Timing charts are available towards the back (use them!). Overall given this is written specifid to the wildly popular Instant Pot pressure cooker it goes a long way to simplifying using it. The price point is appropriate too. You will not find 500 recipes in here, but you will find a solid foundation to work with. Once you get the hang of them too, they are simple to start to tweak yourself for variations. Love that it is available on Kindle Unlimited!

Great introduction to Instant Pot cooking.
Bought this along with my first instant pot. An appliance that makes cooking so much easier. This cook book has good recipes that are easy to follow and turn out exactly as described. I just made the โroastedโ chicken with mushrooms and tomatoes. It was delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Very moist and cooked all the way through in 12 minutes (versus Momโs version that cooked in the oven for over an hour). Not many pictures but for me that was ok. Only reason I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars is the cooking times are not accurate. They donโt take into account time it takes to pressurize. So if you donโt plan in advance you might end up eating later than you thought. Tonight I started cooking at 6:45. Dinner was ready around 7:55 even though the recipe says 35 (17 prep, 10 minutes pressure )minutes only. That doesnโt account for the 20 minutes to pressurize. I even timed each step of the preparation process. Not a big deal if youโre not pressed for time but something to keep in mind.
