Tyger Auto TG-RK3B203S Deluxe 3-Bike Trunk Mount Bicycle Rack. (Compatible with Most Sedans/Hatchbacks/Minivans and SUVs.)

Once I figured out how to install this rack on my Tesla Model 3, (the pictorial instructions need improvement), I really loved the rack. It is sturdy, light weight, foldable and small for storing in the trunk or garage when you don't need it. It shouldn't take long to install, after your first install. I like the orange cushioned brackets that fit under the bottom edge of the trunk and rests on the bumper. The upper strap brackets are also coated. Although they fit under the top edge of the trunk, they don't make contact with the outside of the trunk, if the straps are properly tightened. These brackets are made to protect your paint. (See photos) Other reviewers expressed concern about the springs in the tightening buckles perhaps slipping and allowing the straps to loosen while driving. . I found a simple solution. Just take the excess strap and wrap it snugly around the tightened strap next to the buckle. Tuck the end under one of the loops in the wrap. Now, even if you press on the buckle release, the strap won't loosen, until you unwrap the excess. I would suggest doing this wrapping only after your bike is secured on the rack and you have done another tightening of the straps. Check that the rack won't move away from the trunk, either side to side, or up and down. If so, you have done it right. But it is still a good idea to stop after a few miles of driving, to check everything one final time and tighten, again if needed. Now enjoy your drive.

I have used it for two weeks now, and have had zero problems with it. I drive about 20 miles per day at highway speed to a park and ride, and ride my bike the other 20 to work. So far it has been great. It holds the bike very sturdy, and seems to grip on to the car well with no damage to the car or bike. It is very easy to take off of the car. This is a good and bad thing. If you have a bike on the rack, I am not super comfortable leaving the car because there really is no way to lock the rack to my car. Even if you lock the bike to the rack, the whole rack can be removed by loosening the straps with the push of a button. But when I get to the park and ride, it takes 5 seconds to unhook my bike and take the rack off the car and put it in my trunk. It still works well for me because I use it for commuting, so if there is a bike on the back, I am driving my car. If I am not driving, it takes a second to put the rack in the trunk and jump on my bike. My only complaint would be that it does smash right into my license plate. I am sure that this is a vehicle specific complaint, and I really do not care, but after driving and tightening it down it has smashed my license plate to conform to the shape of the trunk underneath. Not a big deal, but I figured that I would bring it up.

My family camps a lot, and we needed a bike rack for the kid's bikes. I found it is a bit of work to get the straps in place and tightened properly, and then to finagle three bikes on there it definitely takes two people. Once the bikes are loaded on, you'll definitely want to go back and tighten the straps again. I have a Chrysler Pacifica, and on all of the trips I have used this bike rack for, the bottom hooks seem to come loose. If the rest of the straps are properly tightened, it is safe to travel with, but I keep hearing the hooks clank the bumper as we drive. For this reason, I wouldn't recommend this bike rack for long road trips, unless you're prepared to stop and check everything at regular intervals.

I have now owned this bike rack now for over a month. Not wanting to spend a lot on a rack, I find the Tyger rack on Amazon. The price was in my range and the rack its self looked sturdy then the others. Rack came fast and well packed to avoid any damage in travel. My car is a 2008 Nissan Altima and it fits right on. My bike is a 2010 Specialized Stumpjumper. When first putting it on, I set it up low and my mtn bike tire almost was hitting the road. I adjusted the rack its self so the bar was covering up part of my license plate (no trouble from cops yet). Due to my bike, it does not sit level. Tyger and other companies sell cross bars, but I didn't want to spend the extra money on one. So raising the rack on the trunk the wheels are now clear of the ground. I can set this up and get my bike on the car within five minutes now and usually travel over 20 miles on way to ride, even on dirt roads and it still is hanging in there. Good product overall.

6/21/19 Follow up to initial review. Noticed the comment about concern about the strap security. One I got the rack mounted the way I wanted, there wasn’t much strap past the spring clips so a little concerned. Tried to find extra luggage clips to provide extra security but couldn’t. Friend suggested simply folding over the strap and put electrical tape around half the folded strap a couple of times and then fold over the rest of the strap and continue with the tape. Works great and the straps aren’t going to move as electrical tape very strong but do agree additional security for the top straps would be great. Very easy to install - there’s even an instruction video on Amazon although pretty self explanatory. Didn’t notice the warnings about rear spoiler but although my Land Rover LR2 has a small one can get the strap and hook under it without much effort. Once tightened the bike stays in place with minimal movement although my longest drive to a bike trail about 15-20 minutes. A bit of a pain to take off and on when parked while biking but alternative is simply leave it on and hope no one steals it. In this regard wish my SUV had a hitch as would buy a rack for that.

We purchased this to carry bikes on our 2015 GMC Terrain. I'll start with the Pros. PROS- Rack came assembled and was just a matter of folding the arms out and then fitting to the back of the SUV. The four straps hold it snugly and on the 120 mile trip back and forth this last weekend, I did not have to re-adjust at all. The rubber straps that hold the bikes on the rack work well and did not scratch the bike frames. Make sure that you get the top frame cross bar for all bikes that do not have a top bar because this rack WILL NOT work if you don't have them. CONS- The reasons for three stars: There is no way that this rack can carry three bikes without them bumping together and tearing each other to pieces. I've attached pics to show how close together two bikes were. There is no way a third one would fit, well maybe a kids bike would. The sponge foam that is on there to protect the car needs to be thicker because once I had the rack snugged down the rack was almost touching the paint. I guess if you don't care about the paint it would be ok; but I do. If you have any kind of rear spoiler this rack does not fit well without rubbing the paint. See attached pic. I put cloths under the straps but it still scratched the paint a little (I even washed the rear hatch area before putting the rack on to try and protect the paint.) In conclusion. It seems like a good rack and mounts well, but there were too many negatives about it for me to keep it. Going back today via USPS. Thankfully Amazon makes returns a breeze!

Debated for many months whether to buy a trunk or hitch bike rack. Worrying so much about the safety and stability of a bike mount. I also didn't want to invest in a hitch for my old SUV. At the end, I am so happy I purchased this trunk mount rack. Not only was it stable and secure, I was able to mount it to my 2008 Volvo XC90, 2018 Honda Accord, and 2017 Hyudai Tuscon. The mount rack is well made and had no issues driving on the highway at normal speeds in the SUV. Although it was a tight configuration, I managed to get 3 adult bikes on the rack. For the bigger bikes, be careful with the bike tire being too close to the exhaust when mounted. After an hour of driving, the exhaust heat popped the bike tire. Lesson learned. When installed on the sedan, it seem to be less space between the car bumper and bike pedal/tire. To protect your car, I would recommend getting a bumper pad or having a padded covering for your bike pedal. Improvement request. Red strap needs to be longer to strap all 3 bikes together.

What to say and where to start? The holsters are flimsy and weak. I was driving from Amarillo to Austin and two hours in my son's bike is flapping in the wind (we only had 2 bikes on a "4 bike rack", which sadly only held 2 bikes) I had to pull over and strap it down by the next strap. Then while in Austin, yet again , my sons bike was seriously flapping in the wind while we where on the high way headed back to the motel. WTF? It was our first night at Austin City Limits and had two more nights to go...plus drive back to Amarillo with a defaulted bike rack. And our bikes are not cheap you guys! These bikes are over $800 a piece Plus! Plus, what would have happened to the people on the high way if it just completely chraped out on us? I had no other straps to hold his bike down! Seriously, think about that! Do, and I repeat, do not buy this rack!! Zip ties fokes....zip ties got us home. And I purchased this rack just for this trip. Think about the dangers EVERYBODY around me would have suffered if that ONE strap gave out. It's a complete danger and a JOKE they keep saleing it! SHAME on them!!

Relatively easy to install. Sturdy frame. Make sure to respect the bike weight limits.

It's a really good product the reason for the cost it is imported . If you want a quality product this the one to go ! And it has a really good soft touch rubber for cycle mount.

The only thing I’d wish for would be if they supplied two kinds of metal hooks. The ones that come with it are rounded and our hatch has regular steel (like most vehicles) that is @ 3 mm thick so hooks with more bent shape would grab better, increasing my confidence. Although the bikes travelled safely as is for 300 miles.

This bicycle trunk mount damage the trunk of the car, just while installing & testing it, because the mopunt does not have padding in all the necessary places. It took the paint off the corner edge of the trunk, not where the clips connect, but on the edge between the top and back of the trunk. I still need to get an estimate on this from a body shop.

I used this with the scratch protectors. It worked great. Carried two bikes with no problem.
