These checkers pieces are 1.25 inch so they will fit in 1.5 inch squares.

Do i need glue for the felt pads?

No glue needed…adhesive on one side that allows pad to be placed on marble checker,

Can these checkers be used for backgammon?

Yes they come with 16 black and 16 white . Total 32 pieces each piece is about 1.25 inch diameter and 0.5 inch thick. There a bit fragile if they get a hard drop on tile. Only a little piece might break off. Backgammon uses 30 pieces. 15 per player so you will have enough. No need to buy two sets unless you want to play 10 by 10 international checkers.
