Smooth, Calming, and Full of Flavor—My New Go-To Sencha
I’ve been drinking the Chaganju Sencha Green Tea for a couple of weeks now, and it’s quickly become part of my daily routine. As soon as I opened the bag, I could tell it was high quality—the leaves have that fresh, grassy scent that’s so distinct to good Japanese green tea. I brew it gently, and the result is this beautiful, clear green cup with a naturally sweet, slightly vegetal flavor. It’s smooth, not bitter at all, and doesn’t leave any weird aftertaste. If anything, it has a really clean finish that makes me want to sip slowly and savor it. What I love most is how calming it is. I’ve started swapping this in for my afternoon coffee, and I get just enough of a lift to stay focused without any of the jitteriness or crash later. It’s like a mental reset in a mug—light, refreshing, and grounding. The tea itself is super consistent. I’ve been re-steeping the leaves and still get a solid second brew without losing flavor. There’s something really peaceful about watching the leaves open up in the pot, especially if you’ve got a glass teapot. Honestly, this tea has brought a little ritual into my day that I didn’t even realize I needed. It’s simple, clean, and just really enjoyable. Definitely planning to keep it stocked.

Authentic Japanese Green Tea - A Pure, Refreshing Experience !
I recently had the pleasure of trying authentic green tea from Japan, and I can confidently say it exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I opened the package, I was greeted by a fresh, grassy aroma that instantly transported me to the serene tea fields of Japan. The flavor is exceptionally smooth and well-balanced—naturally sweet with a slight vegetal note and just the right touch of bitterness. It’s clear that this tea was cultivated and processed with care and tradition. The vibrant green color of the brew is another sign of its high quality, especially in varieties like sencha or gyokuro, which are known for their deep umami flavor. What really stood out to me was the calming effect it had. Unlike the jittery buzz of coffee, this green tea provides a gentle energy boost paired with a sense of mindfulness—perfect for a midday break or a moment of relaxation. If you’re a tea enthusiast or simply looking for a healthier, more refined beverage, I highly recommend trying Japanese green tea. It’s more than just a drink—it’s a cultural experience in a cup.

Earthy and Heartwarming
I'm still very young in my tea journey, so please don't expect the review of a connoisseur. Most teas green or otherwise that I've tried recommend 1 instead of 2 teaspoons of dry tea to 7oz of water, I followed the package directions which just suggested 2 teaspoons, and my hot water device is limited to 8oz. Steeped at 75C. The smell is unlike other green teas I've had, as far as loose leaf, the only other green tea I've tried is Vahdam's Himalayan Green. This tea has a much stronger flavor than Vahdam. When it hits my tongue I'd say the first flavor that I get is more of an earthy "mushroom" flavor, with a mild tea flavor in the background that fades into a little astringency and tea bitterness. (3min might be to long for a first steep.) There's definitely a plantlike flavor that cuts across the middle, but I definitely wouldn't call this "grassy." I would say there's a definite hint of "seaweed" in the mix. It reminds me of some of the teas I've had in Good sushi restaraunts, though my strainer is clearly not good enough as my brew looks more cloudy than what's represented in some of the pictures I've seen of this tea. The particles are light enough NOT to settle during the drinking of a single cup, it doesn't bother me at all. A second steep at 2min this time provides a flavorful green tea, less pronounced on the earthy/astringent/seaweed notes I described in the first steep (done for 3min). I wish this were a little less expensive, this is probably one of my favorite green teas I've tried, and while I still admit that I'm new to loose leaf, there's something about Japanese green teas overall that has a character unlike any other geographical region I've tried. This would definitely be a daily staple, this is something that on a cold rainy day I'd want to brew and sit down with a nice bowl of miso by a fire. Genuinely a great tea.

Good tea
Sure, it is not as 'green' once brewed as other teas, but it does have a slight grass taste and clear color. The leaves bloom up in the water, so you know it is fresh stuff. Would buy again.

Fantastic flavor and a healthy drink for every day.
Love this tea! It is a very nice flavor and easy to make. I consider this a special find and will be purchasing it again. It is a real gift to find new flavors. If you are a fellow foodee, you know what I am am talking about. This is delicious and when mixed with cream, honey, and a little bit of ginger makes for a decadent drink! For every day without all of that extra, it is a healthy option!

Excellent organic Sencha
I bought this tea several months ago as I was going to start making my own kombucha and wanted to use the best green tea available. The texture, appearance, and aroma reflected how fresh and pure this tea truly is. As I learned more about my liver ALT numbers, I decided to make it into a tincture so I could take bigger doses each day instead of consuming it in a tea form. The caffeine content is fine and doesn't hype you up. It makes a nice tincture that works well for my needs. I will be ordering this regularly to make more tea and tinctures. I find the price reasonable for the quality of the tea.

My fav green tea
Lovely Tea. Flavorful yet light. Mild in terms of Caffeine affect. If matcha is too intense for you, but you want the health benefits of green tea , this is a good option.

Experience Tea Drinker- Had High Hopes
I will start by noting that I am an experienced loose leaf tea drinker. I have tried teas from all over the world and visited specialty tea shops in Kyoto. Japanese greens are my favorite. I had very high hopes for this sencha considering the JAS certification and place of origin. It fell short for me. Perhaps I received an older bag. The flavor was barely present and re-steeping was not an option. I adjusted water temperatures by a few degrees, as well as steep time. However, it lacks the beautiful notes of sencha. The leaves themselves were very small pieces, rather than what is pictures on the item's listing. I wonder if this is a lower quality or leftovers from manufacturing. That being said, it is a decent tea for those that are new to green tea or prefer a very mild flavor.
