Fantastic tv with just one caveat...
If you're reading this you may be down the rabbit hole of tv research asking yourself: OLED or LED? Mini LED or QLED? Full array or edge-lit. Tv research becomes an obsession and I've been down that rabbit hole myself, reading reddit threads and watching youtuber reviews so I hope my review will help! After extensively obsessing over tv specs and research I finally chose the 65" U7G. I was between the: U6G, U7G, U8G, H9G, C1, QN90A, and X80J. First off let me tell you, the C1 OLED and QN90A are phenomenal tvs that cost roughly $1000 more than the U7G, but they are NOT $1000 "better" imho. I'm a samsung guy going from a samsung DLP (my 1st 1080p tv) to an lcd (which still works great after 11yrs!) to a Black Friday special samsung 6000 series 4k tv. Yes, I've been a brand loyalist to samsung for about 15yrs, but I have broken tradition buying a Hisense. But why!? I always say buy the tv that looks good to YOUR EYES! If it's not perceivably better or worth high end prices to your eyes and for your tv usage, then why over pay!? The U7G to my eyes delivers about 97% of the image quality that the flagship QN90A does for half the price. Sorry samsung! The jump from a samsung 6000 series to the U7G was SHOCKING! It was like jumping from a CRT tv to my 1st 1080p tv. I kid you not! I did not expect that whatsoever. I began the tv quest leaning towards getting an OLED actually as I've been obsessed with those gorgeous black levels for over a decade but the prices were astronomical back then. The C1, A1, and Vizio OLEDs are simply gorgeous with their black levels and color saturation, but I can't get over how glossy they are. I have always believed that glossy screens on plasma and OLED tvs are a part of the magic of their image quality, but it's a double edged sword because I hate the reflections that are as bad as old CRT tvs in many instances. Plus, in my research OLEDs will have a shorter lifespan than LEDs (remember my 11yr old samsung lcd is still kicking!). So I just could not justify paying double the price for reflections, a shorter lifespan, much lower hdr brightness, and the risk of burn-in. Full array vs edge-lit. This is HUGE for me and I think often overlooked or overshadowed by the OLED vs LED debate. Simply put, full array backlighting is far superior to edge-lit. You simple cannot get the color saturation and hdr pop out of edge-lit. That's even more important than the 60hz vs 120hz debate imho. Full array just looks better and Vizio has known that since their 1st full array lcds back in 2008/2009. Samsung and the other big companies dragged their heels on it for a decade. Even now the big 3 (samsung, LG, sony) use edge lighting on most of their lower tier tvs below $1000 which is a terrible marketing decision now that Hisense, TCL, and Vizio offer superb full array tvs way below that price point. Compared to the other budget brands, I chose the U7G because of the future proofing with hdmi 2.1 inputs, VRR, and high peak brightness for hdr. I would have gone with last years H9G, but for next gen gaming, I wanted the peace of mind of having a tv that can properly display 4k content at 120hz. Now, the only caveat is that on a black/dark or mostly dark screen with light spots (think of a black title screen or a dark horror movie scene following a character walking through a dark house) there is blooming because the backlight is so bright and the algorithm struggles a bit with local dimming. I honestly only ever see this blooming maybe 3% to 5% of the content I watch (movies, shows, live tv, video games, sports). Do the QN90A and C1 have less blooming and/or algorithms or dimming zones that do a better job here? 100% yes they do! Is that worth $1000 more of my hard earned money just to not have blooming in 5% of what I watch!? HECK NO! Because 95% of the time this tv smokes the competition and to my eyes it keeps up with the flagship $2000 tvs. Also, it crushes anything samsung, sony, or lg have below $1000. At bestbuy they had the U7G next to a sony x80j. They had the sony set at maximum brightness and contrast (dynamic mode) and totally crippled the U7G by running it in a dark mode with probably the ugliest most inaccurate unsaturated color settings I've ever seen, seriously it looked like it was in sepia mode lol. They were so desperate to sell the x80j which imho is trash, that they handicapped the U7G which absolutely smokes the sony! This review is long and I apologize, but I hope it helps! If you're like me obsessing over tv specs and comparisons, give the U7G a look because imho it is the absolute best picture you're going to get under $1000. YMMV

Hisense?
Yes. HDR and Dolby Vision are fantastic. I have a surround sound system so I'm not a fan of TV audio. All I can say is that the sound can be room filling and I can hear the difference on Atmos enabled videos, but really how much can you do with sound in an LED TV Panel? That's what AVRs and speakers are for! Not much of a gamer, but I appreciate the native 120Hz refresh rate. I wasn't willing to drop the kind of coin for OLED from the big 3. This is VERY close to those I've seen while shopping! Live football in 4K is amazing. All of the minor criticisms about blooming and motion are not noticeable in my viewing experience at my settings. I do recommend that you read more about this set on a testing site review and follow their settings for testing. From there you can adjust light and motion for your unique viewing area and preferences. You have control of dimming zones, backlighting, color, contrast . . . it's up to you. Many presets including "Filmmaker" that gives you more options for a theater experience. It is 3 times as bright as my Sony Bravia 55X720E which had lame HDR with very dim backlighting and failed on an update out of warranty. I watch the Hisense in a relatively dark room with accent lights on the walls and this lets me enjoy the blackest blacks I have seen compared to intense (warm setting) brilliant lighting effects with no reflections. All of my set top boxes are now obsolete. The Android TV built in is just as snappy as my Nvidia Shield's. My set top boxes are limited to 60HZ and so is 4K through my Denon AVR. The built in Android TV is not, just required audio out from the TV for my ears. Amazon Prime's first broadcast of Thursday Night Football was incredible, too! Bang for the buck, this is it in the current market. I have no problem recommending the Hisense 55U7G to anyone. Will it last? Time will tell, but for the record, I only got 4.5 years out of my previous TV and that was a Sony. Almost glad it failed having forced me into this for $150 less than I paid for the Sony 4.5 years ago. It's so much MORE of a TV and compares closely to OLED. Amazon's Deluxe Delivery and Unpack was great, too. They even moved the temporary TV back to its home in the loft two flights up - a 60 lb. 2012 LG . . . I did let them know I'd reward them for doing for me what is hard for me now. ;) P.S. For an additional $30, I purchased the PERLESMITH Universal Swivel TV Stand (PSTVS12) from Amazon. Since the largest size claimed to be supported was 55", I wondered if I might need one that supported a larger TV size. It turned out that the PSTVS12 handles the Hisense 55U7G with ease and is very stable. I used the large spacers (standoffs) because of a bump in the Hisense back panel. My AV stand is too narrow for the supplied single position "feet" that came with the TV.

Great TV Specs - Horrible Shipping
What I like most about this tv is the specs and perks for the price. I have heard MANY things about this brand of tv and the model, both good and bad. I was very hesitant to purchase this model because I wasn't as familiar with Hisense on a personal purchase level. I did a lot of research and decided for the price this was the cheapest "Fully Loaded" tv I could get. I definitely wanted the 120 refresh rate and most tvs have 60, unless you want to spend more. Or they might not have as many features etc. I'm sure if you're reading this you've done your own research and understand. When it comes to the quality of the tv..it's pretty good. In the past I've usually went with a lower end 4k model. I bought a 65" Sceptre 4k for a little under $400 @WallyWorld. That tv is decent for the price and got my family through the C-19. So going from that quality of tv to this Hisense 75U7G was a big upgrade. This tv (Specs Wise) is pretty loaded. The screen is crisp, blacks are black and overall is really good for the price. I like that it has extras built in, like a Headphone jack, just incase you need it for an external speaker, back-lit remote for night time watching, Legacy connection for older gear and Google Assistant as well. I've never had an Android tv before, so it's pretty cool being able to talk to my tv.lol. My family and I have Google already in the house, along with many Alexas. The one issue I ran into as far as "Assistants" go, is the Alexa feature. I couldn't get the "skill" to work at all. I was, and still am, very disappointed with that. Not a huge deal, but I would like to use it if I want. The reviews on that skill are horrible so it's not just me. The Google Assistant worked fine though. So when I'm feeling lazy I can just scream at the tv to do things for me. Also, the tv is Android so its like a giant phone on the wall. I did some thinking and wondered if I could use it like a phone and play games on it. It has Bluetooth built in, so I grabbed my PS5 controller and hooked it up..it worked! Lol. The kids and I downloaded some games and played them on the tv itself. How cool is that? I will say this..The shipping was horrible. My package got unnecessarily delayed a couple times and took 19 days to arrive. Not a big deal to some people, but for me it was like torture. Lol. After all that wait it finally arrived..and the box looked like it had been kicked around by a Mountain Troll from the Hobbit. Lol. Kinda reminded me of Ace Ventura. 😁 Anyway, I got it up and turned it on for a full inspection. Overall it worked but there was a lot of Light Bleeding going on. I got unlucky, but I hope if you purchase this tv your transaction is smoother than mine. Good luck, Fam!

Your not going to find better at this price point
Nobody is doing what Hisense is doing at this price point. I never even heard of this company until I saw a few reviews mention this tv as one of the best gaming TVs of last year. After about 3 weeks of usage, I can confirm the reviews were right. Input lag is almost non existent on this set, even without game mode on. I only tested it with a base ps4 (ps5 coming soon so I can test out the 4k 120hz port) but it brings out the best image quality with that hardware. Yes the TV does have two 4k 120hz ports (one of them is e arc) and two 4k 60hz ports. I'll update this review in a couple months once I get my hands on a ps5. The picture quality is amazing, colorful, and vibrant. The default picture settings could be a little better, but it doesn't take much to make the picture pop. Black levels are really good and I have to say that this is the best HDR I've seen at this price point. Dolby Vision really makes a difference and honestly I don't know how I went without it all these years. It's not a perfect set however. Yes blooming; a known complain with this brand apparently; is present sometimes, but I only notice it when I'm standing at an eye level above the TV. When I'm on the same level, or have the TV mounted higher then where I'm sitting, I don't notice it at all. There is some screen ununiformity, but that just means panel could be a little cleaner. Overall it's not noticeable and I don't see it when playing video games or watching TV. The only time I notice it on screen savers with certain levels of grey or white. The smart features work great. People talk about how android TV is not as good as Google TV, but I don't notice a difference in smart functionality. The smart features are quick, snappy, and work well. In all I'm happy I went with this set. For a little over $600 for the 55 inch, It's hard to think of any brand or model that has this many features and is next gen console compatible. The TCL is the only mid-tear brand I can think of that's even comparable, but their sets are usually $100 more than this one. I feel like I made the right choice.

Great TV, but some things you need to know. UPDATED
We have had the U7G for over a month and almost returned it as we noticed what appeared to be a dead pixel along with bad judder and lag issues. Turns out the dead pixel was just debris between the backlight screen and QLED screen. It fully dislodged after I tapped the back of the TV lightly with a rubber hammer. With a factory reset and not participating in Enhanced Viewing, nor information sharing, this has eliminated that issue. Now, for those of you that either do not want to use Google Assistant or Alexa, or are privacy contious, you will want to turn off the microphone via a switch under the TV. Now, unfortunately four LEDs will stay on to punish you for not using the microphone. I am hoping a future firmware update will correct this. Now, if you do participate in Google Assistant etc; then decide you don't like it, make sure to do a full factory reset, turn off the mic, and do not participate in information sharing and Enhanced Viewing. If you don't, an irritating full screen prompt will priodically appear interrupting your entertainment in order to nag you to turn on Google Assistant. Besides these few things, the TV is great and slightly better than the Sony Bravia Series, Samsung QN Series, and LG Nano Series. You will have to upgrade to an OLED to do better. UPDATE: 05/14/2024 I have upgraded the U7G from four stars to five based on it's performance improvements through firmware updates over the time we've own it. Although the annoying Google Mic lights issue under the TV still have not been resolved. We just place a decor piece in front of it. Noticable Firmware Improvements: *Picture motion features are 30% better than when initially purchased. *Adaptive HDR backlighting has improved 30% having a faster response with less halo effect with dark high contrast footage. Still needs improvement but this is really picking at straws! *Brightness is still extremely efficient and backlighting can be tamed for energy efficiency without noticably affecting contrast brightness. Thus, this will make the U7G last even longer! *No dead pixels, no white out pixels, still perfect! *Color information to pixels has improved by at least 20%, not that it really needed it, but it is definitely appreciated! Brings quite a bit more depth and natural vibrancy to every scene! Overall we are extremely happy with the U7G and it is definitely worth the investment!

Not Worth It. Customer Service is Non-Existent. Price might be right, but not worth the headache.
I will never buy another Hisense product again. What passes for "customer service" does not deserve to be called by that name. When the TV first arrived, I opened it up and turned it on. Lines across the TV. Not even watchable. Thankfully, the Amazon delivery team boxed it back up and took it with them. Shortly after I received the replacement, I noticed that my eARC port was not working correctly. The TV would not recognize my soundbar. I tested the same soundbar with another television and everything worked just fine, so it had to be the Hisense TV. I called "customer service" and opened a ticket. I received an email letting me know that my incident was logged and someone would contact me soon. A couple weeks later, I decided to call back. They sent me another email with instructions on how to update the firmware. I did so successfully, but the issue was not resolved, so I responded to the email, as I was instructed. A few weeks with no word, I decided to call back. The rep agreed to send a technician out to my house to try and fix it. They planned to send the part ahead of time, so the tech had it during our appt. The part arrived, the tech scheduled the service call, everything was starting to come together. The tech showed up, opened up my TV, and told me that they had sent me a broken part. He noticed that one of the ports was completely crushed and the replacement part could not be used. He took it with him and told me they'd be in contact. A couple more weeks pass by and then the new new part arrives. The tech calls back to schedule the appt, and I'm back in business. Tech arrives, opens up my TV, and starts cursing. Hisense sent the wrong part. It wouldn't fit in my TV. He told me that his guess would be that they would send him back out, without a part, to destroy the TV. When he did that (and sent Hisense proof) they would send me a check for the device. But he let me know that I would have to pay someone to dispose of the TV, as he wasn't allowed to do it. He was absolutely correct. They were unwilling to send another part. They refused to send me a new TV. And they refused to send me a slightly better TV, as a means of apology for all of the hassle I've had with my purchase. They said they'll send a tech out, he'll destroy it, send them pics, and then they'll cut me a check, which will arrive in 2-4 weeks. Oh, and I'll get to pay someone to dispose of the broken TV Hisense sold me. With inflation increasing prices across the board, I'd be lucky to find a model 2 sizes smaller than this for the price I paid months ago. Hisense sent me a broken product, then another one, then a broken part, then a wrong part. And then did absolutely nothing to resolve the issue. I've dealt with a lot of incompetent companies in my day, but this one takes the cake. I will never buy another Hisense product again.

Great GIANT gaming TV bargin
I went from a 50 inch Walmart Sceptre 4k tv (great tv by the way) to this behemoth! and now i can not figure out how i ever watched tv before. The picture is great... there is some blooming issues, i watch probably way to much SciFi and it is noticeable when there is a lot of high contrast star-field type scenes. (It could be that i just have not yet figured out how to adjust the picture settings yet, I have only had it a few months and i am constantly messing with the settings) It works great for gaming on my Xbox one X, I play a lot of Apex Legends, COD, Borderlands type games and so far it seems flawless. One con is this thing is heavy, I am a fairly large guy and there is no way i could safely lift it much less carry it by myself with out breaking it. It looks great, by that it doesn't look cheap. Someone that is not tv brand knowledgeable they would have no idea that this is considered to be a budget friendly brand. Finally, I know that everything is probably equal or better with a Sony, LG or Samsung (OLED TVs) but I was not ready to drop 3K or more on a TV and this one works great for the price. As i said, i have only had it a few months, if anything changes i will update this review.

review for U7G 75" Hisense
Purchased for $1098 with a $200 amazon gift card thrown in from buying on Amazon card. along with a USX mount Full Motion TV wall mount. and a 4 year warranty insurance. I got the Deluxe delivery with my prime for " Free" usually $29 brought inside and we unboxed it. Delivery was great, I was told to keep the box for a month just in case for returns. Thankfully its been almost a month and I'm very happy with it. It walks you thru onscreen setting it up once you get this beast in place. During setup you can turn a lot of the tracking features off since this is a smart TV and disable the microphone with a manual slide switch on the front bottom panel. the controller works great. Very intuitive. Single button for most go to sites for movie watching is nice. I haven't done any gaming on it. Image quality is great. Some YouTube videos I do see some slight blooming but i think that's due to poor record quality from the content creators, as i don't see the same blooming while watching regular antenna channels. I mounted it on the wall as i was afraid a earthquake would take it out living in California. So far no issues, and i can dump the huge box pretty soon. If your on the fence about having a oversized TV dont be afraid. My wife said its too big now she loves it. its big but enjoyable. easy viewing from 20 feet+ no need to get your glasses. The $50 moveable wall mount made a great addition tilt the screen and watch tv from the kitchen, . I had it on the TV stand for a week made sure it was ok before i mounted it on the wall. almost same height as was on the stand. weight comes in at 60#. I might take some photos if I get time : ]
