What does the blinking F mean on the control panel?

It means it is dead. I have bought 2 of these and both have ended up with the blinking F. These are great while they last. But the first lasted on a few months. The second one lasted almost 3 years. I will not purchase another one.

I have an old heating pad that has the sliding switch instead of button and no digital screen that has lasted me for about 20 years now.

Does this heating pad have auto shut off?

The one I bought in August 2019 has the option of auto shut-off or manual override... and will stay on indefinitely.  I just hope it still has this function as it’s needed to keep my elderly cat warm throughout the night.  I set it at either 3-4 depending on the blankets I use over it.  6 is too hot for her, even though cats and dogs have normal temps at approximately 4 degrees higher than humans... that’s why they feel so great in our laps!  This is a MUST for heating pads for animal care use.  Remember though, to always allow the animal a way to get away from the heat if needed - use on only half the cage (if caged) but allow burrowing ability on the non- heated side too.  It’s a shame that other companies don’t offer this... as heating pads are used in many ways.  A 2 hour shut off is great for preventing burns to elderly, non-aware or forgetful humans, but useless for any other need!  When the pad failed, after Amazon return period, they provided a new set, shipped quickly and didn’t require a return.  The pad is used at least 5 days a week for hours and has functioned perfectly ever since replacement- over a year ago.  Great, responsive company... no hassle.

How does the moist heat option work"

Spray or sprinkle the heating pad lightly with water. The heat will then be moist heat. You will ❤️ this pad!

Does the cover remove for washing?

I’ve had 7 of these. They work until you put them in the wash. If you machine wash the pad part there’s a way-more-than-50% chance that part will never work again.
The flashing-F-troubleshooting steps never resolved tbe problem for any of the 4 i broke by machine washing.
The customer service is very good tho.
