Very elegant and functional smart health monitor that might save your life
Purchased to replace Withings HR Steel. Includes both built-in Oxygen Sats and ECG compared with the HR Steel. I have confidence in the Scan version of this health monitoring watch. The watch face has a minimalist analogue design with a large circular digital display. Functions are selected via a revolving & push to select winder button on the right edge (the HR Steel version has a push to select only button). The display on the Scan watch is significantly larger than that on the HR Steel and is used effectively to indicate the ECG and O2 Stats monitoring. The watch has standard sleep monitoring functions and can sense sleep apnea due to the O2 Sats continuous monitoring while monitoring sleep. The watch also continually monitors ECG and will report any Atrial Fibrillation (AF) events encouraging visits to A&E or GP to investigate. The mobile App (Android & iOS) Health integrates data (read and write) with Android and Apple Health systems. The App is adequate for monitoring health parameters but could benefit from refurbishment/upgrade as it feels rather basic and lacks sophistication. I have a number of Withings health monitoring devices such as BP monitor, smart weighing scales & thermometer, which are all well designed and feel accurate (due to the specification rather than actual comparison with professional equipment), a perception which extends to the Scan watch. The Scan watch is an excellent companion ‘always on’ health monitor and could potentially save your life given the continuous AF monitoring. An almost eccentric feature of Withings analogue health watches is the analogue Step indicator dial which shows the percentage of target daily step count completed. It provides a very quick indicator of step count compared to Smart watches which may need the user to use multiple button pushes to display this data. Compared with Smart watches the Withings Health Scan watch’s superb battery life with over a week between charges (compared with daily recharge requirements), on top of which the charge time from <5% residual charge is in the region of 2-3 hours. The watch charge stand is not as elegant as, say, Samsung’s vertical Galaxy Watch charge stand but is magnetic and relatively easy to use and orientate. The Withings Health Scan watch is quite expensive compared to Android Smart watches (not Apple Watches!) and the Withings HR Steel but it is well worth the money with the continuous ECG and O2 Sats monitoring - it might save your life….

Love this watch
Pros: Long battery life (as compared to other watches) Comfortable Mostly accurate (as far as I can tell) Cons: Not accurate when auto-detecting workouts Some features/functions could be better Not available for the US I've waited over a year and a half for this watch. I live in the US where it is still not available. So I finally decided to ordered this off the UK Amazon and got it shipped over here. I am so happy that I did! I needed a watch like this that had ECG capabilities that worked with Android. I charge it about every 2 weeks, it's usually about 30% by then, so it doesn't quite live up to the 30 days. But then again I do have some extra features enabled so that was to be expected. The night time respiratory scan does eat quite a bit of battery, about 8 to 10% each night. I have it on the automatic setting so it has only done that twice for me. The ECG seems to function great. I did have trouble with getting the ECG to scan after I was working outside and was sweaty, it took quite a few times for it to finally do a successful scan. Other than that the ECG has functioned the first time. The heart rate seems to be accurate when I've compared it to other devices. I don't seem to get as many steps with this as I did with my FitBit. I'm not sure if that's because FitBit was less accurate and this is more or the other way around. The auto-detection for workout is not that accurate. Most times when I drive my vehicle it registers it as Cycling. It also didn't detect the half-hour walk that I went on. Some things I would like to see in an update that currently do not exist. You currently can't see past notifications, so if you don't happen to glance at your watch when the notification comes through then you'll miss it and won't be able to see it later. The second is to be able to set the alarm clock through the watch. You have to set it through the phone and can only turn it on/off through the watch. Overall I am very happy that I finally bought this and that all the features work in the US. I have more peace of mind now that I have something that can help monitor me.

Classic looks, unobtrusive tech
I've had a few wearables over the past few years, but always very conscious that they looked obviously like a piece of tech - ie a Fitbit or a Xiaomi Mi band where the entire face lights up. Main purpose of buying is 1) to hold myself accountable for fitness, 2) to have notifications discretely provided and 3) tracking sleep. Best part is that I often forget that it is a piece of tech that is supposed to provide notifications - I've set the long-press of the button to quickly activate Do-Not-Disturb mode, which does accidentally activate a few times it looks like which can be a negative for a lot of people. However, the UX is a bit confusing especially when you have to scroll to go to the 'back' option. The sleep-tech seems accurate based on my recollections of wakign up - but seem relatively binary between 'good' and 'bad' sleep. A bit more integration and smarts between heartbeat and sleep would be nice. I'm pleasantly surprised there is a vibration motor for this which I did not realise in my research - however there's no ability to customise the haptics on how intense it is. Implementation is also a bit iffy - the two sequential buzzes for 'goal reached' for example come as two different notifications spaced around 20 seconds apart, which is enough for me to read the first notification, put my wrist down, then it buzzes again to make me raise it once again. I'm also concerned when it vibrates but isnt on my wrist, but on a hard surface - a short check whether the Scanwatch is actually being worn before vibrating would be useful and probably saves battery life. Battery life in the short term is fantastic - I've charged maybe five times in the past two months but definitely could have done less. If you turn on DND and turn off quick-look, I'm sure battery life could hit 3 weeks with ease. However, I'm not as happy with that the magnetic charger has a USB-A connection at the other end, which should definitely be USB-C. Seem's relatively sturdy - I've hit this on surfaces a few times because its the first time wearing a watch for a very long time. Yet to see any scratches but it has only been a few months. However, noticed that the silicon watchstrap very quickly accumulates sweat and a noticable smell. Will likely swap this out for non-silicon at one point. Looks are fantastic, although in poorly lit environments, the silver markings on a white watchface can be hard to read. I'd expect different watchfaces might have different experiences, particularly silver on black. Surprised that there is not a watchface with black markings on white. Haptics on the knurled knob could also be slightly improved, but otherwise is easy to manipulate. Overall, very happy with this purchase.

Gorgeous watch with good but not exceptional tracking
This watch is gorgeous and super reliable. I’ve been using it for over a year and the battery life is still great. I wear it every day and the battery lasts more than a month for me (auto wake is off). I love how discreet it is and the fact it looks like a stylish unassuming mechanical watch when the display is off. The software is fine, and there are updates that really improve the watch once in a while. It tracks a good range of data and has great integration with Apple Health. The watch UI is fine and the app is full of features. The ability to see trends over the day, weeks and months is really nice. In terms of quality of data, it probably isn’t as accurate as other trackers out there in terms of step count, HR and sleep monitoring. One of the reasons the battery life is so good is it only measures HR every 10 minutes if not in workout mode. However if you don’t care about the absolute accuracy and are are happy with a good idea of data trends, the Scanwatch is more than good enough. This watch blows away the competition in terms of style, reliability and battery life. I am super happy with this and would absolutely recommend!

Fantastic Hybrid Smartwatch
I very nearly did not buy this watch after reading all the negative reviews. But, I decided that the positive reviews, 72%, far outweighed the negative. I am so glad I decided to buy. There must be some very picky, negative people out there! I liked the more rounded, 38mm design, with the white dial. It does not disappoint. It is a beautiful watch. I love all the smart health features, and as far as I can see, it is pretty accurate. Lets face it, no smartwatch, worn on your wrist is going to be 100% accurate! But, I think the results it gives, give a pretty good guide to the state of your health. And, the battery life is amazing. It easily gives me 3 weeks of use between charges, before it goes down to 10%, and then I get a message in the App, advising me that it needs to be charged. If you are sitting on the fence, like I was, forget the negative reviews and just order it, you will not be disappointed. And, buying on Amazon is the best deal, as since Brexit, if you buy direct from Withings, they do not include VAT or import tax.

mostly good, but annoying growing fails
The watch is fun, hybrid perfect, battery amazing, sleep tracking and all.... the heart and breathing scans depend on how you wear it, so it's a bit tricky to get accurate measurements. When I drive it thinks that I am swimming! notifications sometimes don't work, but I blame the phone? I like the look a lot, and the battery. All that said, I have the "same" watch for the last 4 years: 1) my first watch fail after 2 years (just under 2 years so I got warranty cover and amazing amazon team helped) 2) the second one just fail after just over 2 years Same issue: water If you spend some time in the beach, it breaks. I am not snorkeling, not diving, nothing, just getting wet with the waves and getting some sun, and it fails. It resists the sauna, but not the beach. That, or it is programmed to fail every 2 years. I am not buying it anymore, and I was excited about the scanwatch 2 with temperature ratings

Received this Scan Watch this evening. Delighted. Elegant, clear and very fast to respond.
I just wanted to say, given Christmas is coming, that this watch, for my 55th Wedding Anniversary present. it just so comfortable, easy to set up, if you download the mobile app programme suited to your IOS, and has seemed to be very accurate. The instruction book was in English, very clear with plenty of information about exactly what it will or will not do. Such a joy to read good English! The 'system or functionality seems so well designed and intuitive. The interface is so simple and clear and exactly as pictured, but actually smarter and neater. Previously, I found swiping a touch screen very difficult as my skin is so smooth and does not register. So, just so great to use a push button to wake it, and a scrolling 'crown' (winder) to select an icon in the small black window with label, with another push, all very bright and clear. Just a straight forward menu, with no sub-menus .to frustrate one. The 'crown' is a good size and very positive to push for selection. I particularly wanted a nicer, smarter watch than my last two which were more for exercise than health. I have certainly received that! I did not want bulk and this is flatter yet substantial, amazingly comfortable and suitable for male or female. Many more choices of strap lengths too, , ie. more, closer spaced holes for the buckle. I also wanted a watch that would give health statistics, just enough to reassure me, given some issues. It gave me accurate 02 and heart rate readings, plus did a single line heart ECG reading, which reflected what I already knew, so I trust it. If you had severe heart problems, it would not take readings but would signal that to you. There are all the features of the more expensive range of titbits, notifications of messages etc. It is much better than my last fit bit, as it uses both sides of the body to do the top and bottom funcition of the heart ie. the wrist and opposite hand in contact with the watch.. Just so comfortable to have a soft, thinner silicone wrist strap, on a large clear (38mm or 42) mm face instead of a tiny face and thick, bulky strap. Truly delighted by my partner's choice, given my wishes. If there are any problems, I will update this. It has a two year guarantee so sounds as if I shall not be complaining during that time, I expect! Update 18th Dec. Absolutely thrilled with this watch still. Admitted to hospital and could do my own checks on my heart rhythm etc. while the statistics were on the screen, but also to verify. the accuracy This is very close to being 100% accurate! Just wish I could have the BP read and displayed too, but this watch does not do that. Only downside. So comfortable and smart. Not sponsored but just delighted.

Get gadget insurance
It's a great watch. I loved it up til 2 weeks past its warranty, when the back came off while I was wearing it in a pool. Just one length of a leisure pool, nothing extreme. It's a known problem, the O ring degrades and it suddenly loses water resistance and dies. Shame because I had become to rely on it. Fantastic battery life. Helpful insights. I particularly like the sleep tracking and health stats. Not over the top graphic stuff, nice and neat on the wrist. My insurance replaced it, as Withings were clear it was (just) out of warranty and I'm pleased to have another one. Hope it lasts...
