Which of the sides are for which purposes?

We love this brush so much that we bought one for the shelter where we volunteer with the cat behavior team. As for the sides, let your cat decide. I like the handle for shedding around the head and face as it mimics the rough surface of a mommy cat's tongue and can be comforting. The other sides can be used for collecting fine fur from cats with longer fur. Let the cat decide what it likes!!! Just watch for subtle changes in behavior. Hope this helps.
