What kind of rocks come in this?

It comes with a rough specimen and tumbled specimen of everything on the sheet except the rare finds and fossils. I comes with one of each of those. As well as a larger bag of tumbled chips

Are they all different or multiple of the same?

I got a few that were the same rocks but most were different ones sone I still had difficulty finding out what they are exactly but my kids and I loved the kit I use most of them for my Wicca practice and candles with protection stones hope that helps you.

I think it depends on the age of your son. I wouldn't recommend this for smaller children, as the pieces are pretty small.
