Is there iodine in the salt?

There absolutely is naturally occurring iodine in our salt. We do not ADD any external iodine, nor do we iodize the salt. We believe in keeping the product as clean and natural as possible. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions!

Why do you advetise this as organic, when it it not organic?  minerals are inorganic as they exist naturally in the soil and water.

You are correct that our salt cannot be 'certified organic' since salt and minerals are not/were not living compounds. (Our season salts can and are certified organic.) Certifying a product as organic affirms that no chemicals or prohibited substances or practices were used in the product’s growing process…and since salt doesn’t grow, it doesn’t qualify.  So, while our salt cannot be 'certified' as organic, it also has never been in any contact with chemicals or any prohibited substances or practices.  We very well may remove the term 'organic' anyway, and trust that our customers are already confident in the lack of chemicals or substances in Real Salt.  That is an ongoing discussion. is this salt unrefined?

Great question! All of our salt is unrefined. We do not process the salt in any way. It is taken from the dried up, ancient sea bed and then crushed to the granular size for packaging. Feel free to reach out with any other questions!

What is the best way to store this 25 lb bag of salt?

I store my Redmond's Real sea salt in the larger wide mouth glass Mason Jars. I think it fills up about 4 of them. I also use my wide mouth canning piece to help give the jar a wider opening when pouring the salt into the jarsThen I just write the best by date on the lid. I use it up well before that time.
