Works well, very pleased with notifications
1. Sensor comes with x2 AAA batteries & sticky back tape. 2. Gives a continuous alarm on your phone when sensor is activated with a door/window opening. Also sends a notification message saying door/window open onto your phones screen. (see photo) The continuous alarm on the phone is extremely useful as it's impossible to ignore, (it can be turned off if wanted). Please note there is no alarm on the sensor itself. When door/window is then closed, it again sends a notification to your phone but no alarm. There is a time and date on the notification section of the app. 3. Very easy to use and setup. works via wifi and you get your notifications wherever you are as long as you have an internet connection on your phone. 4. I have attached the sensor to floor of my garage with a strong sticky tape and velcro, doing the same with the small sensor being attached to the garage door. (see photo). As the door is a roller door this was the easiest way but I guess one could screw a small piece of wood to the door and another to the frame and attach the sensors that way if you didn't want one on the floor. They are very light so they stay in position easily. 5. App gives battery level. 6. The app is very good and gives a log of the opening and closing times. I have included photos to give an idea of the app. 7. Integrates with Alexa via Skills section by giving spoken announcements when door is opened & closed. Can also check if door is open/closed by asking Alexa. SUMMARY So far at time of writing only used it for a couple weeks, very happy as all I wanted was a reliable system letting me know wherever I am when my garage door is opened and closed as other family members use the garage and can leave the door open by mistake! I've ordered 3 more, 2 for my other doors and 1 for my neighbour ;) ——————————— UPDATE 10.10.2022 First one I purchased was very good with strong reception between sensor & router but the other 2 I bought after require to be very close to the router which restricts their use. Shame because the first one was very good.

Reliable and User-Friendly Door Sensor with Smart Home Integration
Pros: Ease of Setup: Setting up with the Alexa App using Tuya is straightforward and hassle-free. Low Power Consumption: Impressive battery life; haven't needed to change the battery in 6 months. Compatibility: Works seamlessly with both Alexa and Home Assistant. Reliability: Consistently triggers every time the door is used, ensuring security and convenience. Cons: Limited Customization: Lacks the ability to set complex logical conditions. For instance, unable to program it to avoid turning off lights if the door is opened and closed multiple times in quick succession, which can be inconvenient in certain scenarios like being left in the dark during a shower. Best Use: Home Security and Automation: Ideal for those seeking a simple, reliable door sensor for home security and basic automation tasks. Verdict: This door sensor strikes a great balance between ease of use, reliability, and smart home integration. While it excels in fundamental functions, its limitation in setting up more advanced logic might be a slight drawback for users looking for more sophisticated home automation. Nonetheless, it's a solid choice for anyone wanting a dependable, low-maintenance door sensor compatible with popular smart home systems.

Surprisingly easy to install
COMPLETE NOVICE This is the FIRST 'smart' device I have installed, so I had very little idea what I was doing. I could already open and close my garage door with a single button key-fob but I can't see my garage from my house and I wanted a way of knowing if the garage door was open or closed without having to go out in the rain. INSTALLATION The physical installation of the detector is easy. You simply stick the two halves in place. The instructions for the wi-fi installation were not very clear TO ME so I installed the 'Smart Life' App on my iPhone and I kept on pressing 're-set' until I got a response. The App couldn't find the detector with my router in normal mode (2.4gHz & 5gHz) but it found the detector as soon as I temporarily changed my router to 2.4gHz ONLY. And that is it! Installation complete. It works. I was relieved to find that when the router was switched back to normal operation (2.4gHz & 5gHz) the detector and App kept on working properly. It is only for the initial set-up that you need to switch to 2.4gHz ONLY. I have no idea why. IN USE By default, the 'Smart Life' App sounds an alarm for about ten seconds after I press the button to open my garage door or indeed if anyone opens it manually. The default alarm is not particularly loud or intrusive but you can hear it easily enough if you are in the same room as the iPhone. When I press the button to close my garage door, I get a distinctly different 'bleepitybleep' after 25 seconds and a screen notification telling me that the door is closed. Because it works by the simple presence or otherwise of a magnet, I don't think there is any way that it can get 'out of sync.' The App keeps a log of all the times of day that the door is opened and closed. I suppose that could be useful to know if someone has entered the garage and at what time. RECOMMENDATION At only £10.90 it seems a bargain. I could install another one in less than 10 minutes. Only four stars because the instructions could be better and I would much prefer bigger batteries. I can't imagine the 2x AAAs will last very long. UPDATE: 21 months later, it is still working 100% reliably on the original batteries used twice per day. I have now installed a smart switch to open and close the garage door just by voice instructions to Alexa. It was slightly more complicated but not too daunting for a determined novice (me). I also taught Alexa to use the Tuya detector to tell me verbally when the garage door is open and again when it is closed. For continuous status confirmation I have instructed Alexa to turn on a RED night-light attached to an Echo-Flex whenever the garage door is open. That light only goes off when the garage door is closed. I am now left in no doubt about whether the door is open or closed. Brilliant! There is a learning curve when 'programing' Alexa but it was fairly easy to do with basis DIY skills, a bit of patience and common sense.

WiFi Door sensor use a lot of battery power. No warning
Fitted easily and paired with Wi-Fi with ease. Worked OK. Although "Low battery warning" selected on settings - No warning received (So didn't know units were not working until I opened a door whilst App open on phone & realised NO "Door Open" signal received. Checked all units & all had stopped working within 2 months. Replaced batteries & units re-connected but these units eat batteries - All batteries needed replacing again within 2 months - still no warning. 2 units are fitted to french windows that are hardly ever used, so it is not the frequency of operation.

Work fine, but battery reading is nonsense.
These work fine while the batteries are good. I have a number around the windows and doors of the house, and they connect well to wifi, are easy to set up, and the adhesive is good. The app is ok, a bit annoying because you have to press on each device to check it. Instead, I use the excellent, and free, Home Assistant software to monitor them. This gives me a simple view of all their statuses at once. I highly recommend this. One problem, the batteries are reported at being "100%" regardless of their actual voltage. The only way to know the batteries are depleted (some were less than 1.35V) is when devices start to give incorrect readings, even though the batteries were still, according to the app, "100%". Replacing the batteries fixed the problems: just don't trust what you are told about the batteries by the app, it's highly inaccurate.

Good Door sensor for peace of mind
This door sensor does what it says and is what I needed as an extra bit of security for my front door. It is easy to install and operate. You must connect it to your wifi and install the app which then sends messages to your phone to alert you when the door opens and closes. I think it is good value for money and gives me the peace of mind when I am not home. There is a distinct alert on my phone so I recognise it straight away. I am glad I have this on my door and it was easy to mount. I am happy with it's performance.

Installation instructions are a bit flaky, but once you get them connected the product is superb.
I ordered two of these sensors for the front and back door of my mother's house as she is suffering from dementia, and has left the doors open several times recently. When I say "open", I don't mean simply unlocked, but rather completely open and swinging the wind. Although the instructions are a bit dodgy, once I got them connected to her home Wi-Fi they have performed flawlessly. For twenty quid I have acquired perfect peace of mind, and my mobile phone is alerted within a few seconds of her opening or closing her doors - the latest one waking me up at 6.30am this morning. When I phoned her, she was putting her wheelie bins out a day early, but that I got the alert proved the power of these cheap and cheerful devices. The only complaint I have is that the instructions offer you the choice of two applications - "Tuya Smart" and "Smart Life" - without explaining the pros and cons of each of these. Given that a few previous reviews on here recommended "Smart Life", I chose that one and after running it, it became clear that the instructions were written for that app - that has worked flawlessly since I set it up on my phone. If you have an elderly relative - and a bit of nous when it comes to setting-up applications where the instructions are written by someone whose native language isn't English - then this product is perfect.
