If you need more current than this can handle, Solder another set of L293D chips on top!
Works with adafruit version 1 motor shield code. All of the analog pins are open, just need header pins installed and you can use them for sensors. If you need more amp handling you can solder another set of the L293D chips right on top of the ones on here, They have parallel capability! I'm using this to make an autonomous car from a old new bright rc truck with a servo. Make sure you check the motor you plan on using this with under load with a multimeter to be sure you won't go over its rating! Cheap and decent board for powering motors can't beat it.

Well built clone but don't forget to check alternatives and understand limitations
It's the AdaFruit Motorshield v1.0 clone and works fine. I did not realize that AdaFruit meanwhile has moved to v2.0 which uses a lot less pins and has a more versatile stackable design allowing to use multiple shields for even more motors. This one does what it needs to do. Be aware that you either need to use the AdaFruit library or be prepared to reprogram how the pins are used. The design uses a shift/latch to address the motors so the control is a little less direct than a typical HBridge design. Of course you can also use the L293D's directly they are in an IC socket and can easily be taken off the shield if you want to go that path (then it's cheaper to buy just the IC). Beware if you also need SPI communication (used a lot for RF modules) as It uses those pins for the motor control. You may notice that the board has spots for additional capacitors. I first thought they forgot them but it's the same on the original. I think that they are supposed to be used for extra noise suppression but it is better to put them closer to (or even on) the motors. I guess that's why they are missing: it's not as efficient as putting them closer to the source of the noise. It's also possible that they designed the board so clever that the open spots actually act as capacitors but I doubt it.

Great Motor Shield - Get it
This is great motor shield. Fully Assembled and ready to go. Quality well designed and fully functional product. I heard complaints that the ICs run hot for Adafruit motor shield (this is a copy of Adafruits motor shield) and I dont see any problem with this shield perhaps my motors were within 1 Amp of what this board can handle. I built a Ultrasonic obstacle sensing Robot using 2 ordinary DC Motors and this shield worked perfectly fine with it. The Only CON, I can think off with this shield is that Arduino pin outputs from Motor shield are not accessible. For some of the projects you may have to directly solder the other sensors to Arduino Pins directly.

Bought 2, and aside from a few lessons along the way I am still happy..
So this board seems cool.. I wish they would have thrown on some female pin headers for Analog 0-5, but I went ahead and did that myself.. One warning. This will NOT work well with little hobby motors requiring only 3volts.. I have it working for now but only by overpowering the motors which will shorten their life significantly.. Actually come to think of it I have at least 1 motor which no longer works and I did have it hooked up to this board... But I have some 6 volt motors which will be suitable replacements and will work better on this shield.

Works OK. Some faults...
I purchased this shield instead of one of the other models for use on an Arduino Uno in a Bluetooth project, primarily due to its comparatively low price. The motor shield itself seemed to work fine with DC motors on outputs 3 and 4. I didn't notice excessive heating like other users, but I didn't run it very long. However, this shield design leaves few digital pins left (as far as I can tell, only 0,1 / tx,rx, and pin 13). So, I wasn't able to use it in conjunction with my Bluetooth shield. This shield requires a separate Adafruit AFMotor library which also seemed like a bit of overkill. Seemed like I should just be able to set some pins and specify a speed... I guess I'll pony up some dough for a motor shield that uses fewer pins.

Good low cost motor shield for our first robot-car project.
Super cheap Motor Drive Shield at $9.99. I'm pretty new to Arduino; I found this very easy to use. It works perfectly with the Arduino UNO. I found the necessary scripts to use board at: [...] More information on this board can be found at:[...]

You're on your own. Check out the support documents first.
While the quality and usability of the product (There are no open pins, for instance) is open to question, the lack of meaningful documentation is truly amazing. Companies such as this, and it's really not clear who manufactures this board, need to realize that their customers aren't just buying a thing. They're buying, or attempting to buy, a solution to a problem. The company needs to do more than just solder something together and the let the buyer beware. Without data sheets, the product requires a lot of searching just to find out which pins control which functions. The link to the documents on amazon contains information on the Texas Instrument chips, but nothing on the shield itself. Ensure that the support documents are adequate to your needs and level of experience BEFORE buying.

Its the thought that counts.
I used this for about a week before it no longer worked, THIS IS THE OLD MODEL, they don't feel the need to tell you. There is a surface mount version of these which I didn't like either. I would recommend http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014KMHSW6?keywords=jbtek%20motor%20driver&qid=1455401663&ref_=sr_1_fkmr1_3&s=industrial&sr=1-3-fkmr1 You can thank me later. The one plus side of this model was that you can remove the chips, And replace them or use them in another board, But the chips are cheap so I would not recommend this board for DC or stepper Motors.

It worked
This product worked perfectly. The fast shipping saved my ass for a big robotics project deadline in a school project. Be aware, the Digital I/O is useless on this board as all the pins are taken up for some reason unknown to me. You can still use the Analog I/O as Digital but there are only 6 Analog I/O's so use them wisely. I know for a fact there are versions of this board with most of the Digital I/O's available for you to solder to at your digression.

Recommend item and vendor
Fast service and delivery. Item quality exceeded my expectations. One thing to note for future buyers, this controller is based on the adafruit v1.0 model. Which means the most recent Arduino libraries will not work, need the libraries exclusive to v1.0.
