Napoleon PRO285E-BK TravelQ PRO285E Portable Electric Grill, Black

I have had this grill now for more than a year. We use it at least once or twice a week. And I really like it. Electric grilling elements are never as good as open flame. But I've had no problem whatever cooking steaks, chops, fish, burgers (etc) in the same amount of cooking time as most small tabletop gas grills. Sometimes I think this little grill does things even faster. It is true, as several reviewers noted, that the temperature reading never seems to go above 400, nevertheless everything cooks beautifully in just a few minutes per side and tastes great! So I decided it's partly just a temperature gauge thing. The grill itself is heating and working fine for me. And it is so easy to use. I turn it on, give it 5 -10 minutes to "warm up" (paying no attention to the gauge), then I put the food on, cook it a few minutes on each side, and voila! Everyone always comments on the nice sear marks and how juicy everything stays! Recently bought this grill again, as a gift for friends, and they love theirs as well. (PS their temp gauge works fine - grill gets easily to 600 or more - and cooks identically to mine.)

This BBQ works great! I tried it for the 1st time on a cool windy evening. Wasn't sure if it would come up to temperature but it got up over 450F without any problems. It's built solid and the temp guage is a nice touch. I'd 100% recommend this for an apartment balcony or if your tired of propane bottles.

This is a really good quality grill but you should not expect so much from of it since it is an electric one. Unfortunately it doesn’t compare to any gas grills

There’s a couple of things that you need to know about using this grill. First, if using an extension cord it MUST be a minimum 15 amp power cord. If not, you’re limiting the ability of the element to achieve high temperatures. Second, unless you’re constantly moving this grill around, you should line the bottom with ceramic briquettes. This helps tremendously with heat retention and adding flavour. I have zero complaints about this grill. Figuring out the right temperature setting is not difficult, although it does take some trial and error. Sears perfectly. Grills evenly. For added flavour, consider using a smoker tube with your favourite wood pellets. Highly recommend this grill.

CANNOT be used indoors as stated on Amazon. I called Napoleon since the brochure that arrived with the grill clearly stated “for outdoor use only”. They confirmed that the grill gets much too hot and could be a fire hazard if used indoors. I’m sure it’s a great grill, but we needed to be able it indoors if needed as we are in an apartment.
