This is an awesome little device. You snap it onto a 5 gallon bucket when you need it and it stores neatly away in the garage on a shelf when I don't. I use this for my fish tank sump. It's perfect to do a water change while cleaning the sump at the same time. The vacuum shuts off automatically when it's full. That is a real pluss so I don't make a mess. I'd say it shuts off when there is 4 gallons of water in the bucket. My sump tank is about 7 gallons so I can suck every last piece of water and muck out. It's so quick and continent. Way easier that with an aquarium pump and rags. I'm obsessed with cleaning my sump now. I'm sure my fish and coral are going too be so much more healthy. I'll keep up on tank maintenence more now!

A shop vac that goes on a bucket. You can go to any home improvement store, buy buckets to color match if you want. Buy 2-3 buckets. That way if youre vacuuming up water, when the its full, just swap buckets & keep on suckin'. Price is great. Suction is good & the hose will accept your home vacuum attachments (more than likely, it does mine). Its got good power, doesnt weigh much & easily comes apart to clean. I replaced the metal bucket handle with a hand braided nylon cord. The head unit has a groove on each side to pop the metal handle into to keep the handle up, but i wanted a more comfortable handle.
