Audio Technica AT-VM95E Dual Moving Magnet Turntable Cartridge (Black/Green)

I picked up the Audio-Technica VM95E recently — not because I needed a new cart (I already run a Nagaoka MP-110) but just to try something new and keep an empty headshell busy. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much. I thought it would be a decent backup cart. But this thing seriously surprised me. For the price I paid (~₹3600 / ~$40), it’s ridiculously good. Clear, punchy, well-balanced — more than what I expected from a budget cart. It’s an absolute workhorse. I still love my MP-110 — it’s smooth and warm and great with vocals — but the VM95E has a totally different energy. It’s fast, open, and engaging in a way that makes it hard to ignore. I’m definitely going to be using this regularly, not just as a backup. It’s still early days (just a few hours in), and I know it’ll only open up more with break-in. But even now, I’d say this: don’t go by the price tag — go by what sounds best to your ears. And this little cart delivers. Audio-Technica nailed it with this one. Incredible value for money.

Genuine Audio technica product. Very good quality. Entry level cartridge. Performance is perfect.

I just purchased this last Saturday. A good sounding cartridge. Crisp high, prominent mid and impressive low. At this price it's a gem. I am using it with a medium mass straight tonearm. I am totally impressed with it's sound quality as well as looks and buit quality also. But the packaging from Amazon should be improved. It came in a simple plastic wrap in a self adhesive printed envelop. That's all. At least a bubble wrap should have been used as it's a delicate item.

On time delivery not bad

You’ll love it if you aren’t an audiophile. Had to do some jugaad to fit it on my Philips 242 to replace the stock. It can take a beating from my older loved records. Great buy.

Excellent sound quality

I was hesitating before placing the order as it is an "entey level" cartridge. It arrived within a day. It was well packed. There were two pairs of screws which was really helpful. Thanks Amazon for their prompt delivery. Now coming to the product. The stereo separation is nice, the mid range is superb. The lower frequency reproduction is okay. The higher frequency reproduction is also very nice. If you mostly listen Indian music (LPs and EPs) then blindly go for this. This is low-priced but not to be ignored. I didn't really expect such performance from a budget cartridge.

Very good quality

Perfect gift!

I love this cartridge. The sound to price is incredible. The VM mount means no more fiddly nut and bolt threading while holding the headshell and cartridge in one hand. The cartridge secures direct to the screw. This was one of my easiest cart swaps ever. With the aid of my alignment protractor I had it installed in about 20 minutes. The pins for headshell connection are also the right size unlike some of my MC carts that need crimping to fit. The fact that I can upgrade the stylus all the way to a ML or SH is a winner as well, but to be honest I'm very content with the sound quality from the 95. Installed on my Reloop turn 5 turntable. 10/10 for the AT cartridge

I bought this cartridge as an upgrade for my Audio-Technica AT-LP140XP. The turntable itself is a very good DJ-oriented model, but the DJ cartridge that came with it was not ideal for the type of listening I wanted to do at home. I wanted something that would give me a cleaner and more detailed sound without spending a huge amount of money on a high-end cartridge. There are obviously much more expensive options available, but I chose the AT-VM95E because I felt it offered a very good balance between price and performance. The difference compared with the DJ cartridge was immediately noticeable to me. The sound is cleaner and more pleasant to listen to, with noticeably less vibration. For normal home listening, I am much happier with the sound I get from this cartridge. I also have the impression that it treats my records a little more gently than the previous DJ cartridge, although I can't say this with certainty and I haven't used any professional equipment to measure it. Installation and setup were straightforward, and so far I am very happy with the upgrade. I also found this cartridge considerably cheaper on Amazon than on the Audio-Technica website and other retailers, which made the decision even easier. For someone using a DJ turntable primarily for home listening, I think this is an excellent price-to-performance upgrade. You can certainly spend much more on a cartridge, but for the money, I am very happy with what this one delivers.
