This 5th Edition is the definitive version, and is presented in hardback. Modern Christianity is a wash in a flood of doctrinal relativity. Satan and his forces love the imprecision and ambiguity which are rampant in our day. As C. H. Spurgeon observed, The arch- enemy of truth has invited us to level our walls and take away our fenced cities. This exposition was originally published in 1989 to mark the 300th anniversary of the publication of the Second London Confession, which also became known as the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith. Today, Reformed Baptists worldwide hold this Confession in high esteem and many churches continue to regard it as their official statement of faith. In this extensive exposition, the author Sam Waldron shows that the 1689 Confession is a masterly statement of the historic Christian faith. He writes in a direct and lucid style that will help ministers, students and laymen alike to a clear understanding of this Confession and to its relevance and application to our modern age. Included in this publication is a helpful introduction on the legitimacy and use of confessions by Dr. R. P. Martin, who is now in glory but was formerly Pastor of Emmanuel Reformed Baptist Church in Seattle, Washington. Review: Insightful Guide to the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith - Confession of Faith is an excellent resource! It provides clear explanations and thoughtful insights, making the confession accessible and relevant for today. The author does a great job contextualizing the original text while preserving its depth. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to understand the theological foundations of the Baptist faith with clarity and depth! Review: GREAT EXPOSITION! - It is not so dense as to be unreadable by the layperson, but adequately deals with the confession and related Scripture in a meaningful way--especially in the areas in the 1689 that may be less clearly understood or fully unpacked with an unaided reading. I highly recommend this if you are reading/studying the 1689 LBCF and it is a must have if you are teaching through it like I am.

A MUST READ FOR ALL CHRISTIANS
No matter if you're confessional, or affirm a different confession, this is a must read. Dr Waldron is a master of synthesizing his years of knowledge into terms a lay person can understand, with arguments a learned theologian can appreciate. This hard hitting exposition walks through all core Christian doctrines and does not compromise.

Clear and concise
A very solid exposition. While I had some questions, I found this to be thorough, yet concise enough to answer them (whether or not I agree 100% time will tell), and I am grateful for Dr. Waldronโs clarity.

Great content
Iโll give it a 5 because the content is great. However, the quality of the book is not great. The design is odd, and the make, feels like it was published from Amazon direct. For the price one would expect a slightly better book. Especially when you consider that the majority of the people who buy this book. Most likely have pretty decent sized libraries.

Excellent scholarship
There are still minor edits needed. They are easily overlooked. This book, however, reflects excellent scholarship. I would suggest this to anyone studying reformed theology. Waldron has lectures closely following this for audit at CBTS where he is president.

Very profitable!
Excellent work. I'm almost all the way through this book, and very few issues have been left unresolved. While I have a few small differences with the author, this is absolutely a book worth reading thoroughly, and then reading again. I have read this book straight through, and I look forward to using this work as a reference in the future.
