Rand McNally Paperback Atlas of World Geography features more than 65 highly detailed physical and political maps, along with thematic maps that show plate tectonics, population, land use, climate and more. This atlas has 20 pages of graphs, charts and tables that provides comparative information about physical, political, economic and cultural features of the world and special continent sections the highlight such themes as deforestation in South America. Created for grades 6 to 12. Measures 11 x 8-1/2 inches. Includes: 1 Atlas Book Review: Excellent atlas for anyone who has an interest in world geography - Nicely formatted 176 page world atlas covering basic educational aspects of Physical and Human Geography during the first 50 pages or so. The additional 126 pages depict each continent's land use, political, climate, population, physical maps, indexes and details about that continent's unique attributes. This atlas works for middle schoolers through college age students. It is NOT Goode's World Atlas that I used in college physical and economic geography courses decades ago, but it is a 6th Edition with a 2019 copyright. It is very current in a rapidly changing world of political geography and country name changes. As a lifelong learner and former international airline pilot, I carried a similar edition in my flight bag while traveling the world. This book is paperback with a nice glossy cover and the pages are colorful and well produced. Due to the approx 8.5 x 11 inch format, you will lose a little detail on some maps as you get near page centers due to the binding process. Minor issue for me. Nice addition to my desk reference library to better understand today's world events in distant locales. For the price, this is a well written atlas. Review: Great atlas from the Rand McNally series - We had versions of this and the historical atlases (US and World) from the 1990's and the books simply fell apart from use. Just love the series. I prefer the original binding to the glued binding - the one with old fashioned staples - because the binding broke on the World history atlas, but the maps are great. Lots of detail and perspective of surrounding areas and comparative sizes. It is great for those times when something comes up in a movie or on the news (Chernobyl, for instance) and someone says, "How far IS Chernobyl from Minsk and Kiev?" Out comes this paper atlas and viola! an answer - and more. I wish an updated version were available. We've almost worn ours out - and if I purchase another, I'd like a newer copyright. Maps change.

content is great, but the pages are a bit flimsy
The information and photos in the book are great, but I was disappointed by how light the pages are. It has more of a catalog than book feel.

Great little atlas
I play a game called Global and this is exactly what I need! I am pretty bad at geography and wanted to improve. So playing this daily game with my sisters and this little atlas have helped me so much..

Superb Book - perfect for what I was after; and all round intro to world geography for my daughter
A great intro to world geography - both physical and human/political. First section has lots of really interesting facts on our planet (longest rivers, biggest lakes, most active volcanoes etc etc) then there are sections for each continent with intro/headline info followed by detailed maps - both physical and human/political. Hopefully my daughter won't be asking questions like "Is Belgium in Austria?" or saying things like "Africa is a country" going forward! And she's 31 and has a degree (not in geography I hasten to add!) so lord knows what they taught her in school!
