Love that the gray hairpins blend in perfectly with silver hair. Just two or three hairpins will hold my hair in an updo or partial updo, and they’re easy to use and stay put all day because of the flocking. It’s nice to have both large and small sizes - the small ones are great for stray strands on a windy day. They're super light weight, of course, and so work great for finer hair as they add no bulk. The flocking begins to wear eventually, but no complaints - these are still worth it.

I have very think hair. As in, even when I use a medium size clip, eventually it slides off my hair. These hair pins were complete sorcery!! I did a French twist and my hair stayed put the ENTIRE day. I would highly recommend.

I am allergic to most metal and have a hard time using bobby pins. They cause my skin to feel like it's burning and sore. I have an event coming up where I want to secure my hair with bobby pins and these are the perfect solution. They're covered, and stay in place very well. I didn't experience those sensations while trying them out and am excited to be pain-free for my event. I didn't see anyone else mention using them for allergic contact dermatitis, but I think they're a great solution for that issue.

These are fairly good hairpins compared to the hair care standards available through your local chain drugstores and/or retail outlets. The only thing I've noticed so far is that the soft flocking material covering the pins does start to deteriorate over time. At least, I'm beginning to see this with a few of mine. Do not use these often, or every day either. But overall, I'm reasonably satisfied with the quality, and the performance of these pins. They hold VERY well, and the range of colors is great.

Great for holding any type hair

I love these hair pins! Years ago, I discovered that bobby pins did nothing for my hair. I found some hair pins and they worked so much better. My hair pins got old or lost and I needed more. These hair pins are even better than my old ones!! They are thick and strong. I was kind of worried about the velvet getting scrapped off or damaged, but they haven’t been damaged at all. My hair is naturally straight and medium thickness. It’s either too heavy or slippery for a braid, bun, or other fun styles. Typically, I’ll use a hair elastic or two and then use the hair pins to make a bun. Honestly, with the way that the hair pins work, you wouldn’t need elastics or any other clips to hold your style together. I highly recommend them! My hair currently is down to my shoulders with layers and the pins are amazing. Most of the time, I use the smaller pins more than the larger ones only because the long ones stick out sometimes and the short ones don’t. Whatever length my hair is, the hair pins work great! I will definitely buy them again.

THE BEST I’ve ever found to hold my slippery just over-the-shoulder hair! 4 pins - 2 long & 2 short - hold my French twist all day. If I’m going anywhere I add a couple more pins and use side-combs to keep the stragglers in front from getting out of control.

I have shoulder length hair and it is very fine. The pins aren't holding it tight enough. My hair is staying up,and didn't come down, but I felt that the pins were not for my hair type. I will be returning them.

I was very sceptical about these pins. £18 for hair pins is crazy. But I could put 20 cheap hairpins in my very fine hair for an up do and it will possibly hold but look and feel awful. I put ONE of these in a basic updo and it felt secure. I would never rely on just one but it felt like I could. Wow. The only issue for me is the two sizes in one pack. I will never need the longer size so paying quite a lot for a pack with both lengths feels wasteful.

Edit: Just a note. The “flocking” or soft coating on the pins doesn’t stay in place (at least for some of the pins). However, the pins continue to be extremely comfortable. They still work as the best pins I have ever used. Wow!! I bought these on a whim. Years ago I used pins that were in the same design, but not “velvet coated”. I’ve been using long bobby pins since then and they worked well. But oh my goodness, the Frenchies Ultra Flocked pins are like a dream to use! My hair is securely in place, and the pins feel wonderful!! Absolutely no pulling, no discomfort, just a lovely sensation. In fact, I don’t feel the pins at all. They are expensive, but they are worth every penny. It’s nice to have the two lengths of the pins. I use the long pins near the base of my French roll and short ones at the top. I am delighted with this purchase.

I have tried so many types of hair pins and they either don't hold my hair or they hurt my scalp and are extremely uncomfortable. Frenchies flocked pins are fantastic! They hold perfectly for my chignon, are so comfortable on my head, no tugging or scrapping my scalp. And the hold! I would highly recommend these to anyone who loves to do updos!
