Plug and Play, works great
Purchased this to replace a headlight in my sons VW GTI after he hit a deer. The new headlight assembly did not come with the HID bulb, ballast or igniter. This unit was an exact fit for the original which was completely destroyed in the collision. I also purchased an aftermarket ignitor along with a genuine VW bulb. At first the light would not come on and after swapping parts with the other headlight, I determined it was the aftermarket ignitor. I sent that back and got a VW ignitor and everything worked, so make sure if you replace everything and it doesn't work, to swap out parts with a working light to determine the root cause of the issue. I am happy with this ballast, it was reasonably priced and shipped quickly.

Worked as advertised & Great Price
This Ballast also known as "Range Control Module" by VW is an exact replacement. If you have a headlamp go out on one side, switch the bulb that works into the side that doesn't; If that don't work then swap out the ignitor & if that doesn't work then you are likely looking at the ballast mounted on the bottom of the headlight assembly, you must remove the assy. by removing the grille, all screws on the TOP & 2 in upper wheel well of the bumper cover, un-clip the cover on each side pushing cover forward at the wheel well ( leave the screws in the bottom of the cover so it won't come completely off & pull it down in front of each headlight to access 1 (F%$&@) screw hidden behind cover on bottom of headlight, 2 others (top outside & middle inside) are easier to get to (all are T-20 or 25 torx), then unplug main power harness (big plug back of headlight) it has small locks on top & bottom of connector meant to squeeze together to release, you will break them, they have become very brittle, this will not harm the re-installation because the connector has a substantial sealing gasket ring that will retain it just fine. Once light assys. are removed swap the good side ballast with the non-working side slip it back in the hole far enough to plug the harness in & try it if it work you need this ballast. Thanks for the great price, Ronnie...

Great company! Great product! Wonโt go anywhere else.
Let me just say, I truly couldnโt be happier with my purchase and would like to take a moment to acknowledge the seller, GenXenon. I bought 2 of these ballasts as replacements back in 2017. Both fit perfectly and worked great! Just recently, I had an issue with one of them...or so I thought. The error was actually mine. However, despite it being my own mistake, the owner took excellent care of me and responded to my email within hours! Within 3 short days I had a new replacement! I am truly grateful for businesses like these who are hard working and have honest, customer loyalty. I am referring ALL my business to this company in the future and sincerely thank them for helping me!

It works, it's not a joke.
Listen I needed a quick fix for my headlight for inspection, we narrowed it down, that is was what we needed to fix it. We went to the local auto stores and online and everyone wanted close to $400 for this one part. We went junk yard hopping and still couldn't find the correct part. Finally I bought this think if it doesn't work I'll return it, or maybe it will just get me through inspection, an let Me tell you, that damn light is still on. Quick, quality and good for the price. Would buy again.

E46 BMW Replacement
My driver side HID was having issues in the cold, then eventually just died. I assumed it was the original bulb. Replaced that, no dice. So then I assumed it was the igniter. Tore the headlight apart and replaced that with an OE one that wasn't great. It worked for three weeks, then died again. At that point it was either a failed igniter or ballast. BMW originals are several hundred, and on a 20 year old car, how much are I willing to spend...I assumed the igniter killed the old ballast and took a shot on this one. Installed it a few weeks back and it's been going strong. The driver side light output is actually brighter than the passenger side. Either my passenger side is going to die soon, or this one just got it back to the original brightness that I haven't had for years. All in all. As long as it keeps trucking along with all three new components, I'll have no complaints. Definitely saved me a lot of $$$ around the holidays. Once my other side kicks the bucket I'll be ordering another one.

Great price, solved headlight flicker/non working bulb condition
Started having issues on my 09 Gti with xenon headlights. Troubleshooting this system can be an expensive nightmare. Some tips * Remove the headlights to change the bulbs. It's tempting to try to do it in the car but it's really easy to break retainer rings and seat the bulb crooked and arc out your ignitor. It just gets more expensive from there and it's really not hard to remove the grill and front bumper. If you can turn a wrench and at least a third of your brain works properly you won't have an issue. I've done it both ways and have broken 100% more parts doing it with the headlight in the car. 2) if one headlight stops working, swap bulbs. If it still doesn't work, swap ignitors. If the latter works you have a bad ignitor. If it still refuses to work with a good known bulb and a good known ignitor, check out the ballast. If you have to change a bulb, change both at the same time. The cost of bulbs may give you a minor heart attack, but resist the urge to buy the really cheap ones. Youll be doing it all over again in a year. Buy a set of bulb retainers. Just in case. If you break one you can't install the bulb until you get a replacement. Amazon sells the retainer if you do a quick search. If you use contact cleaner on the plug for the ballast be sure to use sparingly and keep the headlight lens facing up. Failure to do this will let contact cleaner drip down into the inside of the headlight and melt a nice hazy spot on your newly repaired headlight. * Rain, or the automated car wash tends to get the connector for the ballast wet. Corrosion causes the light to flicker on and off. Don't let this problem go as it's really hard on the bulbs. I installed this ballast and it resolved a long standing issue with my driver side headlight not working. Shipping was fast and pricing was very good for this type of part. I couldn't be happier. Now I'll probably hit a deer.

Exact replacement for fraction of cost as BMW
I had a xenon headlamp that had gone from flickering slightly to not working at all. I replaced the bulbs first as they were nearly 15 years old had never been replaced. New bulbs and still no light on one side so according to various BMW forums next was to replace ballast. Part was delivered fast. Install was easy but since my model has headlight washers it was a little more involved getting headlight out to replace ballast. Once ballast was replaced and light reinstalled all worked great and my Xenons are nice and bright once again.

I would hesitate to buy again
I bought this in June 2018 and the headlight went out again yesterday (January 29, 2019). I'm really disappointed in this product. It should last much longer than 7 montyhs! I appreciate how quickly the company sent another one without me asking for it. I installed the new one and my light is working again. Iโm cautiously optimistic. Iโll see how long this one lasts and will write another review if it last longer that one year.

Cheap replacement
Only needed one side but decided to replaced both with these. Been over a month now...still working great and bright. Will update in six months.

Works Well
Taking out the head light to replace the ballast on a BMW e83 X3 is a pain but actually installing the part is easy. Fixed my broken passenger side headlight.
