Hualalai Estate Whole Bean 100% Peaberry Kona Coffee - Pesticide-Free Gourmet Grade Premium Coffee - Medium Dark Roasted Hawaiian Grown Beans (7 oz)

This is a fantastic coffee. It's a shame I won't be able to afford this on a regular basis. I preferred it most as a strong cold brew instead of my usual pour over. Mostly because that took off the tiny burnt edge that I feel masked some of the lighter flavors when brewed hot. Next time I'm able to order this I'll try it as an espresso to see if that will also extract the subtleties while keeping more of the punch of the darker roast.

Kona coffee has 3 categories: 1. 100% Kona Coffee - this is not a "blend," but comprised of 100% Kona Coffee Beans. 2. Extra Fancy 100% Kona Coffee. This rating is given by Kona Coffee Council to beans that have uniformity in size and have a taste differential associated with this coffee. 3. Peaberry are beans, comprising 10% of the harvested beans that are not a result of a split in the branch resulting it 2 beans. This is a mutation where there is only 1 bean, and these beans are rarer. The taste is also magnificent as well, and is another wrung in the ladder of my education concerning Kona Coffee. I purchased the Hualalai Estate Medium Dark Roast Peaberry beans for my first try of Peaberry coffee, and am impressed by the flavor. I love this coffee. It’s pricey so I use it for a treat. Reminds me of why I like coffee! Rich with no bitterness. I’d drink it all the time if it was less expensive but then perhaps I would lose the special reward-value of a pot of this brew!

I always used to buy this coffee whenever I visited Oahu, so I was so happy to find it on Amazon. It’s one of my favorite coffee flavors. A little pricey, but still worth it!

Wasn’t AS good as the stuff I used to order straight from the farm but my dad still liked it. I used to buy the Peaberry from one of the farms in Hawaii once in a while for my dad. Recently he was put on Hospice unexpectedly and while still in the hospital he had mentioned this coffee. I decided as they thought he had less than a week that I would get some for him some how fast and was able to get this next day on Amazon. Apparently it must have been old stock and when brewed using same Griner and pot he has had forever, it came out relatively weak, so we had to increase the amount of grind and it was better for him. With Gods grace he has survived since his release but is still on hospice.

We usually drink P-grade Jamaican Blue Mountain, but we tried this brand of Kona P-grade and WOW! My wife and I are coffee snobs, filtered H20, proper brewing temps, whole bean grinding at home and this Kona is the best coffee we’ve had. This brand is incredibly robust with an extremely delectable flavor profile. I highly recommend it for you other coffee snobs out there thinking about getting this one.

I lived In Hawaii for a year and even when I moved back to the mainland my order wasn’t roasted until I put in the order and that makes all the difference in the world. The coffee now has less flavor and the beans are dry. Amazon you’ve ruined a good product!

I purchased three 7 oz bags of this so far. I don’t drink coffee every day, but have a hand burr grinder and French Press and drink it black. 180F for 3-4 minutes. This coffee has that taste reminiscent of chocolate that I love about Kona. I recently tried the flat bean version from Hualalai and will order the Peaberry if available. The Peaberry was less bitter. We have a local roaster so I have tried some Colombian Supreme, Ethiopian #1, and others in a light or medium roast. This is still my favorite and the one I reach for nearly every time. My wife likes this one as well. I store ambient inside the bag in an Oxo click top container. Highly recommended!
