It is very loud and obnoxious just like you'd expect and want in this type of product. It will deter people or animals easily from bothering you. It's a great price and we would recommend it !

Wow, is it loud! Perfect for taking on my walks and attaching to my purse. You can buy replacement batteries ( replace yearly) at Batteries Plus.

The product seemed nice, and I'd really like to be able to carry one with me every day, but after a month or two wearing it on my belt, it would come loose with very little interference. When I sat down, when I stood up, if I brushed it against something. Having an alarm that goes off when it needs to is great, having one that goes off all the time is not.

Byrna makes good products and my buddy turned me onto this little "screech machine". You pull the ringed cap off and it instantly alarms quite loudly. I was expecting it to be louder honestly so that's my only downside. But it still hurts your ears and it will startle the daylights out of anyone. Gave it to my wife and she has it attached to her purse with the included carabiner. Now if she senses trouble she can pull it with a simple move and it will start screaming. Good first line of self defense.
