Seattle grunge band's debut, deluxe reissue Review: Damn straight you haven't heard UMOK until you have heard THIS UMOK - Vinyl. - Originally a bit skeptical...however it's MINDBLOWINGLY AMAZING ! Before playing the LP, I read front to back the details on this reissue. Kim and Jack do a great job explaining the processes, thoughts, reasons, and goals behind the remix. A lot of love was put into this and it really shows. The quality and depth of sound in this remix is incredible. It's not about being loud, but it's about being clear, solid, dense, thoroughly layered and complete. Kim says it best by describing this as a correction rather than a re-release. Kim and the guys did a really fantastic job and have blown me away! Because of this, I am going to hunt down the remixed anniversary vinyl of Badmotorfinger; which is one of my very favorite albums of all time. Review: More than OK - I finally decided to upgrade my old worn out cassette of Soundgarden's first album, and what a difference the remastered CD makes on the ears! This album is Soundgarden at it's most ballsy and bluesy, a shot fired across the bow for big things to come. That being said, I rate it as one of their best efforts. From the drive of Flower and All Your Lies to the wails of Beyond the Wheel to the blues of Smokestack Lightning, this is an incredibly tight, flexible band at their most hungry. What really stands out in this remastered version is how the rhythm section weaves together like clockwork - a real treat for fans of drums and bass. Vital addition to the catalog of any Chris Cornell, Soundgarden, or 90s rock fan. No one does it better, and this is where it all began.

Vinyl Remix/Master is Spot On!
I was so happy to hear that Soundgarden was not only reissuing UMOK but were giving it a proper remix. The original mix was very flat and boring for how Soundgarden should sound. I couldn't be more pleased with this mix. Finally, songs like Beyond the Wheel and Incessant Mace had some balls. The reverb is set just right for these songs. The guitars are up in the mix and the drums and bass carry some weight. It's a beautiful and clean pressing. If one is hesitant, don't be, it should please the biggest Soundgarden fan.

Remix is a massive improvement in sound.
First off the new remix is solid. It's a bit more compressed, but it's a lot more vibrant than the old and super flat 80s transfer, which is as terrible as the day it was released. The old mix is congested, stale, and lacks bass or dynamics despite being a DR13 record. It just sounds really bad. I never liked this record, and that is a big reason why I could never listen to it. This remix is breathes new life into the mix. It's not going to make this a great record the stuff that came afterward, but you can now hear the same band here building their sound. It sounds deep and the stereo image is wider with a lot more detail and separation. If ever a record needed a remix, this is one of them. So if you are a fan you might as well just buy it now. The old disc is not even worth keeping around in my honest opinion. It's just that bad. While the new remix is never going to make this a classic, it's does give this album a newfound sense of purpose.

Soundgarden- young, thick, and raw
Another excellent example of early Soundgarden. This version does sound better than the original release. I had always read that the band was not happy with the production and sound quality and had always hoped to remaster it. I wonder if Chris Cornell got a chance to hear any of it before he died. It was a sad day in the rock world when that happened, but he left a wealth of great music for us to remember him by. I speak for many when I say thank you, Chris.

Always start this album could be really good if it was produced a little better period but I guess that what was so unique about it being there first full-length album. After listen to the remastered version and hearing the spooky background audio of 665 and 667 but you couldn't hear on the first record with Chris spoke down was priceless. I've got the album and the CD. The album really brings Cameron's drums to the front. Chris Cornell's vocals are better on this record then Louder Than Love his poison smokestack lightning with K Kim's guitar would make the Howlin Wolf proud of this young Uprising phenomenal Talent from Seattle at the time. This album is slowly becoming one of my favorites I guess because badmotorfinger spoiled me so much but realizing how young and artistic please forward even though Ben Shepperd to join later which would not be a bad thing really makes a I must when it comes to hearing the wonderful job they did making this record a little more accessible. I never did like head injury that much until I listen to it now and the way they break it down and Chris changes tempos they really where the first band that nobody could put a finger on and that's what made them so honest and appreciative to their fans. Tumi each album has its own sale. I listen to King animal the other day and thought wow it's amazing how good that record really was after 14 years but now listen to ultramega ok at the beginning of their career it's not surprising anything this group is capable of doing they are the truth when it comes to being honest and artistic and having the best lead singer of Our Generation five stars

Great Pressing
This is a review on the vinyl pressing. The music is absolutely awesome in any format. I have a Fluance RT81 with an Audio Technica AT95E Cartridge. This pressing is very well mixed. The vocals come through like Chris is singing right in my living room. It is very well balanced and plays with near 0 noise. I would highly recommend this pressing of UOK.

The best quality vinyl that I have purchased from Amazon so far.
The sound quality is very good but what I'm really impressed with is that there are no skips and nothing wrong with the records themselves. The plastic was a little ripped but whatever that just made it easier to open. If you like Soundgarden and wanna take the next step into there discography this is the way to go (unless you haven't heard superunkown)

A much deserved and overdue remaster of one of Soundgardens most powerful albums.
The difference between this remaster and the original release of Ultramega OK is absolutely staggering. This album has always been a talking point when it comes to Soundgarden as there has never been a mix that the band were happy with. Many thanks to Kim Thayil and Jack Endino for finally bringing some justice to this incredibly powerful LP. Beyond the Wheel still sends shivers down my spine after all this time.

Quanto erano grandi i Soundgarden! A must have.
