This companion to our bestselling book, The Care & Keeping of You, received its own all-new makeover! This updated interactive journal allows girls to record their moods, track their periods, and keep in touch with their overall health and well-being. Tips, quizzes, and checklists help girls understand and express what๏ฟฝs happening to their bodies--and their feelings about it. Review: Great journal for my 9 year old - This has been a great book for my 9 year old. We talk about the topics and she fills this out before she goes to bed at night. Itโs a great way to give the girls tools to manage life at this age (and prepare for middle school). Highly recommended! Review: Relieves Anxiety about Changing Body - I bought the book and journal for my 10 year old granddaughter and Book II and journal for her 11 year old sister. I figured they could each read both books. They loved them. These informative books are a great relief to girls because they explain many things about their changing bodies that they might be too embarrassed to ask about. Also, many girls think they are "weird" (remember?!) and these books reassure them that other girls have the same questions/worries and that they are normal. The older girl wanted to shave her legs but her dad thought she was too young. She used this book to change his mind. The book suggests 12 is average age to start shaving but let the child start earlier if she's self conscious about the hair on her legs at school.

Fantastic
My 9 year old daughter loves this book. I purchased it for her when she was 8 because she was "developing" sooner than most girls her age. We actually have many AG books about dealing with friends, gossiping, keeping organized etc. Every book is tremendously important and connects perfectly with the target age group. This particular book deals with hygiene issues, changes in our bodies, For example, why we grow hair in certain places, why our sweat has an odor, why our hair gets oily etc. There are wonderful suggestions on how to manage it all and discussed in a very laid back, matter-of-fact way. I found it actually made my daughter want to do things independently. She wanted to take care of herself better! We read it together and it has opened the door for questions that I don't think she would ever have asked me if she didn't have this book. This is a must if you have a young daughter. We don't realize that they are noticing the changes and they do have questions. It's a great first step in the "Caring of..." series.

Perfect fo my almost 10 year old
My daughter loves this journal, along with the companion book. It seems to have really made her feel good about herself and the new mysteries of her body. Good for her age and level of knowledge - she is pretty innocent as she watches very little television and goes to a small private school. She loves other American Girl stuff, so this was a brand she was familiar with and we all trust. Originally I had gotten the older girl book, but decided to save that and get this one, as the one for older girls had some images that I don't think she is ready for yet.

Daughter loves
She loves this journal and loved the book that it goes along with. I like that it has places for her to reflect about how her body is changing. She likes reading the book and now she can write about how she feels about what she is reading.

Perfect for little growing girls.
My oldest daughter is almost 9 and ALREADY starting to hit puberty. ๐ญ I am very open and honest and we are all comfortable with talking about it and whatnot. But I just wanted her to have her own way of expressing herself privately and learning and whatnot. This goes with the book perfectly and she loves the activities and questions and information in both. Itโs age appropriate and very relatable. It was a big hit and my 6 year old canโt wait to be โbigโ to get one for herself. ๐

Easy for Kids to Understand
I really appreciate this book. It helps to break the ice for "the talks" about puberty and starts the child on the journey to be an adult. There is chapters about emotions. There are sections on puberty and female things. Everything is drawn in a gentle cartoon and introduces ideas nicely. I like that it's a full care book. It doesn't just go over puberty but healthy sleep habits and healthy eating habits. There is discussion of homework and time management. I really like it and my Social Worker friends buy them to hand out to kids in rougher situations who may not feel comfortable talking to their caretaker. I suggest you have the kids do it in pencil as they can redo the questions later on for different issues and gives them awesome journaling ideas.

Great for girls entering puberty
Got this for my daughter as a companion to the book with the same title. So far itโs been great. My daughter writes in it and brings it to me with questions/topics she wants to learn more about. Itโs actually made navigating puberty easier than I thought it would be. I very much recommend this journal.

Great little journal
I bought this journal as an accompaniment to the book of the same name (see photo) and it is brilliant. The journal covers the same spread of topics; about me, healthy eating, exercise, periods, emotions, feeling good about yourself. It DOES NOT cover sex or relationships. Lots of brightly coloured pages with minimal text so ideal for a primary school aged child (my daughter is 9yo and in Year 5). I would say the journal is probably best suited to 11s and under as it is more simplistic than the book and maybe looks a bit babyish for those in early secondary school. The book though, is excellent and probably suitable up to Year 7 or Year 8.
