Szco Supplies Clip Point Blade Hunting Knife

I started knife making and creating handles for knives some time ago, and these blade blanks I am getting off Amazon have come quickly, been in great shape and have become some of the most beautiful work I have made in some time!

Durable metal, sharpness is okay, seems professionally made, had to drill out holes to fit brass rod.

Easy to work with, blade profile is well done. For the price these are selling for, this is one of the best blades to test out your building skills. I finished this one with some mosaic pins and ebony wood handles for my grandson. Are you buying premium quality? No...but the small issues (very rough handle steel, a few minor tooling marks and rough brass quality on the pommel) were easy to sand and polish out of the knife. I'm pleased with the blank overall and it's an excellent value.

Clip point, drop point, skinner blade. Nice blade blanks to practice your knife making skills. The blades come sharpened and allow you to focus on the handles. These handles are walnut, mahogany and epoxy. The walnut and mahogany was salvaged from a housing flip remodeling project. These are probably not the highest quality metal blades but to me they look and feel great. I like the clip point style best and the skinner blade style is unique.

Very, very disappointing. I understand that it was cheap. Was trying the manufacturer out. The knife is not even a knife. The steel was never heat-treated, and it is easy to see that it is still soft does not pass the file test. The tip is very blunt, if you can even call it a tip. The blade edge was also chipped. The only thing that it has going is that it is thick, so can be heat-treated.

I already wrote a review about this item but Amazon doesn't like you to use the actual title of the item (rhymes with strife). Anyway, it would be nice if the description actually gave you more info as to what this was intended to he a replacement item for. I was just going to make a handle for it anyway. Seems like a great item

The knife is an interesting and attractive shape. The brass cross piece looked a little strange to me, so I modified it a bit. Overall, a lot of fun for a quick knife "build" which is exactly what I was looking for. The knife steel felt soft to me, so if you're looking for a serious knife this probably isn't it.

The look good but the steel (said to be 440c stainless) is extremely brittle and micro fractures showed up after I used it to whittle back a piece of white oak. Those fractures will become chips very quickly. I called the company and spoke with a lady who knew nothing about the product claiming I should merely re-sharpen the knife. She got huffy with me and told me that I should return to Amazon. The prices are low considering the time it takes to cut one out, heat treat, then temper but all of the benefit is lost if the knife is unusable. I'll be testing the other knife today and most likely I will be sending these back. Incidentally, attaching handle scales to the tang is a bit tricky as the hole size is some freak size.
