Readers will put their multiplication skills to use in this clever math adaptation starring the fairy-tale favorite, Rumpelstiltskin. It's been 10 years since the queen defeated Rumpelstiltskin and now he's back to collect his payment from years before. He causes a stir in the kingdom by making mischief with his multiplying stick and threatens to do far worse if the debt is not repaid. It's up to Peter, the young prince, to take possession of the Rumpelstiltskinโs magical multiplying stick and learn how to use itโand multiply both whole numbers and fractions-- in order to restore peace to the kingdom. A perfect mix of math, fairy-tale, and fun, The Multiplying Menace will get STEM/STEAM readers excited to solve the adventure one number at a time. Review: GREAT INTRO TO THE CONCEPT OF MULTIPILCATION - It is wonderful book that helps a child that has not yet been introduced to the concept of multiplication. The book is well written, very simple to understand and well worth the price. What you do with it it is really up to you. The book can be used as one and done or as a go to reference that a child can use as a mental hook to ground their mind as far as the concept is concerned. GREAT BOOK! Review: Wonderful story to help kids visualize important properties and meaning of multiplication - This is a wonderful story with beautiful, engaging, interesting and highly detailed illustrations. The story help kids visualize, actually "see" the dry, sometimes seemingly uninteresting properties of multiplication in ways that they can definitely relate to. Properties such as multiplying by zero, multiplying by a fraction, multiplication as addition of groups of equal size are illustrated beautifully and creatively through the story line. It is great and the book should be in all elementary and middle school libraries.

Multiple opportunities to explore multiplication as scaling
Calvert has created an interesting vehicle for teaching children the differences between multiplying with whole numbers and with fractions. Geehan's expressive paintings provide a perfect backdrop for this fairytale, complete with a wholly menacing Rumpelstiltskin. This book provides multiple opportunities for children to reason about the effect of Rumpelstiltskin's multiplication stick. The idea that multiplication as scaling is an important one for children to learn (alongside the idea of multiplication as repeated addition). This important mathematical idea of multiplication as scaling is seamlessly woven within this timeless story.

Engaging For Kids
My daughter and I enjoyed this book for math, however, the reason for 4 stars was the illustrations. The illustrations are weird. I also wish the last page explaining multiplication of fractions (making the number smaller), what to pay attention to in the book, and basic info on why we use multiplication, be placed at the beginning of the book. This is a fun story to use to make math lessons engaging for struggling math learner's or kids who love to include stories in math like me daughter does. The story is about a boy that outsmarts Rumpelstiltskin. Overall, a good book that I'm glad I bought for my daughter.

Math and Reading
My students love this book. It is a great way to bring math and literature together. While reading it to my students, I would stop to allow them the opportunity to figure out the mathematical equations.

Great for Instruction
I read this book to my 4th grade students before teaching a lesson on multiplying fractions by whole numbers. They loved this book and it paired well with the lesson! Would recommend!

Entertaining story!
This book is a delight. It carries on a beloved fairy-tale, mixing in the math in a fun way. I am using it for a drama lesson. Unfortunately, it mixes third grade and fifth grade standards.

Great for 6 and upwards
Maths tutorials are sometimes rather tedious but this book is great. A fun twist on an old story with clever maths intermingled throughout. My 6 year old loved it

Rumpelstiltskin Math
This book has a good story but not sure what age group is it meant for. Maybe too childish for 10+ old children? Found the book print to be not so good
