I live in Northern Michigan and have used the mini cleat style ,which the cleats eventually fall off and also use the yak Trax style with the coiled wire which usually works pretty good. Anyways,we had a lot of snow and then it warned up ,melted and was followed up by rain and then refroze. My Yak Trax just slid on the ice below the snow and I wanted something more durable than the previous mini spike cleats ,so I decided to give these a try while snowblowing my driveway. These worked impressively well and definitely dug into the ice below the snow allowing me to not slip or slide at all. I have balance issues so even a slight slip can cause me issues such as my yaktrax in this scenario. These are made with a nice thick durable rubber with the spikes attached to a chain vs a rubber backing found on the mini spikes I would usually buy once or twice a year as the spikes would eventually detach. A prior review I read on these said they had mini spikes but that is not the case and I included pics with this review. As I said above,after a lot of snow followed by the melting and rain and refreezing,my long driveway and private road was literally a solid sheet of thick ice under new snow and these gave me excellent traction with no slipping at all. These exceeded my expectations in not only the grip but in the build quality. Heavy rubber and solid chains and spikes make me believe these are going to last me quite awhile. I would recommend putting these on your boots/footwear before you put them on your feet as they do need a little tug to get them on due to solid rubber compared to the cheaper and thinner mini spike ones. They also include straps to hold both sides of the crampons over the top of the foot to further secure them although I did not use those and they stayed on just fine. It also includes a storage bag to put them in which is appreciated as these are solid and beefy crampons,so it's nice to have them stored in a bag due to their size with the chains and larger spikes. They gave me a lot of confidence and I am definitely glad that I paid the few dollars more because these are definitely worth it. If you spend time outdoors on heavy snow and especially Ice,I would recommend these. A well deserved 5 stars in my opinion.

Held up perfectly on the mountain trails near Estes Park, Colorado. Super high quality product, made from durable material. I felt traction throughout my hike, and entirely stable, even while crossing over completely iced and difficult uphill gravel sections. I had no trouble while my partner was suffering with popular brand YakTrax, that had him slipping and sliding down. I offered him one of these crampons, and we both managed just fine with just one of these each, they were so effective. The adjustable strap and stretchy tough silicone is what made it possible to share with my boyfriend, I wear a women’s 6.5, he wears about a men’s 10, but we made it work. These are wonderfully easy to put on, and taking off is the same(just a bit muddier). I love having the included bag for protection and safe storage, so I don’t poke myself while blindly reaching into my pack. Wonderful product, I’m planning to order another pair for him before our next travels to replace his inferior set from YakTrax.

Mising strap. (Addressed) I used it on a 4 hours hike with packed snow over ice surface and it performed perfectly even without the straps. It went on my hiking boots without problems and stayed on properly stretched for the entire hike. Very pleased with the product. Update: The vendor contacted me and stated they are sending a replacement strap. Will update accordingly. Update2: To my complete surprise a pair of straps arrived in the mail. Rating updated to 1 to 4 starts. But it should have been there in the first place. So, 1 star deducted.

YES, all of these types of "icers" keep you from falling on OUR icy conditions. Southeast Alaska has the most variable ice and snow conditions from late September until today at least, April 16th. (sometimes August) We keep a pair in our cars and trucks. I keep a pair attached to my backpack. We have used them on our mountains and trails here and I actually have photos of my wife and another friend behind her sliding down one of our snow covered mountains IN AUGUST, wearing these of course. We all wore these that day!!! (The previous years snow, I slid down first to show them it was safe) These red versions do not want to stretch as far as the black rubber version, this same brand. The red compound is a little tighter. No problem, I have the XX version for my biggest winter hiking boots. These exact versions are the ones I buy. (the black ones too) Amazon sells other name brands and the ones that several of us avoid have more cleats/teeth on the bottom. When you are looking at the different brands on Amazon CLOSELY, you will see a brand that has more spikes/teeth/cleats on the bottom, maybe 24 teeth. Look for the ones that have 2-teeth close to each other in several spots and avoid them. I sharpen special friends icer teeth when they get dull and there isn't enough room for my sharpening tools to get in between those darn "close together teeth". If you order the wrong ones you will understand as soon as you hold them in your hand. It shows on the pictures here on Amazon if you look closely. THESE have enough space between all of the teeth for sharpening. I'm 75, I brake easy, I don't want to fall, I heal slowly now. THE ONES IN THIS PICTURE ABOVE KEEP ME UPRIGHT! On another note. There is the expensive brand that cost 2 or 3 times more than these, there is a reason for that. They both do the same thing but THOSE have thicker SS wires and folded chains and hooks and fasteners on the bottom that keep all the teeth/cleats in place. THESE in this picture above use slightly thinner metal parts and several of these teeth actually broke off of one of mine. These have broken on me in several areas. When I get home I take the small bent or broken part from these and I pull out my stash of worn out and broken OTHER icers and I cannibalize them and repair these using THOSE stronger parts. So technically they will never brake in that spot ever again. I also carry a spare worn out ice cleat in my backpack just encase one of these brake. (I never throw the old icers away) When you live in Alaska for over 40 years and you love the winters in this pristine clean air wonderland then you must use good equipment to stay safe. One more thing, one of my hiking buddies simply buys a new pair of THESE each year. That is how he stops his icers from braking. AND, these are MUCH cheaper than an ambulance or a helicopter flight to the hospital. (where we go it would be a helicopter) Yes I would recommend these to a friend, (a friend recommended these TO ME!)

Fantastic product! We had a bunch of snow here in NJ and I’ve been walking my dogs out in the backyard so we avoid all the rock salt that is on the sidewalks. From walking back and forth after a few days the snow got packed down and it became VERY slippery. I have a bad back so I have to do everything I can to not fall. I was using boots with a very thick lug pattern on the bottom but I was still slipping and sliding around. These grips are an absolute game changer! I actually tried to move my feet around and forget it, not happening. Not unless you pick them up and walk regularly. What an absolutely perfect design and product. I can’t remember a time I was this impressed by how well something works. They don’t add any noticeable weight to your boots, they go on very easily, adjust them so they are balanced and equal and you are ready to go. You can walk on a complete sheet of ice or a frozen lake and you’ll have unbelievable traction. Thank you to whoever designed these, I love them!!!

I’ve only tried them out a few days, for a short period. Fairly easy to put on. They stick to a hard crusty snow like Velcro. They bight into ice for good traction. Good product.

These are my second set of crampons and this is a much more heavier duty one than the prior one which had rubber strand webbing with stainless steel spring wrapped around them. Those worked fine but the steel wore out relatively quickly after using them on mix surfaces on a single hike that involved hiking over rocks, snow and ice. I think the rocks were not kind to them and broke the spring and the webbing soon thereafter. These have all steel chain webbing so I'm hoping these will last longer and they seem durable. I'm happy with these but have not tried them out on hikes yet.

This is reliable ice cleats are an absolute must for my winter gear. I picked up the Large Grey version of these 19-spike crampons, and they have thoroughly impressed me. Sizing & Fit (Helpful Note on Sizes): First, a quick note on sizing for anyone trying to figure out the stretch: my partner and I tested the Large size on both a men's size 42 EU (which is roughly a US Men's 8.5-9) and a women's size 37 EU (roughly a US Women's 6.5). As you can see in my photos, the elastomer band stretches easily and fit securely over both sets of winter boots. There was no awkward sagging, and the chains stayed perfectly centered under the sole. Traction & Performance: The 19 stainless steel spikes make a massive difference compared to the smaller, rubber-studded grips I've used in the past. As shown in my attached video, I tested these walking directly across a completely frozen lake. The stability is fantastic—the spikes bite right into the smooth, solid ice, and I experienced zero slipping or sliding. It gave me complete confidence walking at a normal pace on a surface that is otherwise impossible to navigate safely. Ease of Use: They are very straightforward to attach. You just hook the front wire over the toe of your boot and pull the rubber back strap over your heel. It takes seconds, which is a huge bonus when you are trying to put them on outside with freezing hands. Verdict: If you are dealing with icy sidewalks, frozen lakes, or packed snow trails, these grips provide heavy-duty, reliable traction. They are easy to use, fit a wide range of standard boot sizes securely, and the stainless steel feels highly durable. Highly recommended.

Après une chute qui m’a coûté deux côtes et plusieurs jours d’énormes douleurs, j’ai enfin compris qu’il me fallait des crampons… après avoir bien cherché ce qui conviendrait le mieux, je suis tombé sur cet article et après réception je les ai mis sur mes simples tennis et j’ai pris une côte complètement glacée pour les tester réellement, à chaque pas on entend et on sent bien les crampons qui rentrent dans la glace, du coup on se sens bien rassuré et mes amis du petit village de montagne d'où je suis, on été conquis et en commander les mêmes 😂…
