The new standard in fitness books, featuring hundreds of at-home stretches and exercises. At last, the first complete, fully illustrated compendium of stretching and exercises for every part of the body, backed by the experience and medical and scientific authority of the American Physical Therapy Association. Each exercise in the book has been prepared and reviewed by a special editorial board, chaired by Dr. Marilyn Moffat, president emeritus of the APTA, and widely considered to be the preeminent expert in the field. Broken down into three major sections, The American Physical Therapy Association Book of Body Repair and Maintenance first offers illustrated descriptions of the structure and mechanics of each major body part, explaining what can go wrong and how to properly care for that area. A middle section provides general information on posture, body mechanics, weight control, aerobic conditioning, and maintenance programs. Each chapter references the main part of the book, the catalog of exercises. Review: Very informative - This is a great book as it explains how our bodies work and is written so itโs easily understood. I like the different recommended exercises for each specific body part. It provides a list as well as as detailed instructions on each individual exercise. Review: Great Database of Physical Therapy Exercises for the Whole Body - I personally love this book, it is everything I hoped it would be. I also purchased "Age Defying Fitness" at the same time, and this is by far the better book for me. I have a complicated medical condition, I have been in physical therapy A LOT. I have tons of old, printed sheets full of exercises, and just wanted them all in one place, within a book, where they won't get as worn out or lost, and I wanted to gain access to more exercises I could add into my daily routine. This is the perfect book for that. All of the exercises I have been given were in here, and tons more. They offer program ideas for what to do before you sit down for work in the morning, and things like that. The first part of the book is very repetitive and such, but it's worth it to me just for the exercise "database." Really happy with this, I use it almost every day.

excellent book for do-it-yourself home stretches, etc
lots of stuff is available on the web for home exercising, but I wanted an authoritative, science-supported, expert-approved set of home stretches to help with arthritis-affected joints. The physical therapist, when a joint gets bad, always has the right exercise to help me get more mobility and feeling better. Now, for the joints that aren't so bad that I'm ready to ask for that kind of help, I can identify exercises and stretches to help improve my mobility and to strengthen the joint to relieve pain. When getting doc-prescribed PT for a shoulder, I asked the therapist if he had a recommendation for a self-help book, and he suggested this. It's exactly what I wanted. The first 165 pp are discussions of how various joints and muscle groups work, with suggestions for footwear, posture, etc., etc. The last 100 pages are detailed, well-illustrated and well-explained exercises and stretches for joints and muscles. If you're trying to do some stuff at home to prolong your body, this is an excellent choice.

Physical Therapy Book
My husband bought this to use after his PT class. Very informative. The printing is rather small, may need glasses. I wish they would make a larger print for us older folks.

Perfect service
I have osteoarthritis and recently I had a bad flare up. Since I have bought many books from the Cameo bookstore in the past, I searched its website and found the perfect book : The American Physical Therapy Association Book of Body Maintenance and Repair. I ordered it and it was delivered in two days. The packaging was perfect, the book was in pristine condition and the content couldn't be better. I highly recommend the Cameo bookstore if you want to have a great online customer experience.

incomplete--needs more specifics & contraindications/risks.
Not bad for having at least some reference, but the exercises do not include specifications on which muscles are being activated by each exercise, so you'd have to look them all up online to figure all of them out. They also do not specify when to use each of the exercises. Not indexed fully for either lay persons or professionals for quick reference and specifics & goals. Also gives no warnings for contraindications or risks of any of the exercises for certain persons for safety.
