Love it!!! Safe and secure!!
Summary, awesome! Love it! My wife and I are in a house that has 2 levels and hanging lights on the roof above the garage was impossible and dangerous because of the slope of the roof so you couldn't do it from above, and I didn't have a ladder high enough to reach. BUT the you could get onto the ridge of the first level and then climb to the ridge of the second level. Only problem was you couldn't go down the roof at all because of the steepness of it. This meant we were going to go "lightless" for christmas this year. I did check with people that hang lights professionally and the going rate was about $175.. Way too much for me to spend. So I did some searching and found these ridge mount ladder hooks. I had no idea something like this existed. After reading the reviews I wasn't sure if they would work because people mentioned how unsafe it was, etc. But I decided I could always return them if they didn't work so I pulled the trigger and ordered 2. The box arrived and was beat to hell, but that was ok, these are made of steel and if it can't take the abuse of UPS getting it to my house there is no way I would trust it with my life. Good news, they were in perfect condition when I pulled them through the hole in the box. I was using these on my little giant which I wasn't sure would work, but I am happy to say it did, it worked perfectly. I was able to secure both hooks (I ordered 2, they only come in single units) and did some initial tests by banging it and pulling on them to see if they would pop off, they didn't. I was ready to hang the lights. I carried everything up to the roof then lifted my ladder up and walked along the ridge to the second level, put the ladder down and in about 7 seconds felt totally comfortable and confident. There was no wobble, no shaking. These things held onto the roof well with no damage to it and kept the ladder exactly where I wanted it. I was able to then climb down the ladder which was hooked onto the ridge and hang lights along the slope of the roof. I then got to the bottom where the gutter was and sat on the bottom run and felt secure while attaching lights along the gutter. I had to climb up to the ridge, move the ladder over a few feet and then climb back down and start all over as I was doing part of the roof, but the entire time I felt 100% safe. The cost to have someone hang lights on my rood was $175. These cost me $21 each for a total of $42. It took me less then an hour to do my lights and I saved $133 PLUS these things will last for years. This is one of the best tool purchases I have ever made, I love these hooks. If you need something like this get these, but note they only come in single units so you need to order 2. Some people say you can use just one, I wouldn't trust it. With 2 the ladder is held at 2 points which prevents it from swinging side to side. With one who knows what could happen. I submitted 2 pictures of my ladder on my roof as well. If you found my review helpful please marm it as so!

just wish they told me it comes in pairs, I ordered two and had to return one
I recently used the Qualcraft 2481 Ladder Hook with Wheel while installing my metal roof, and it was an absolute lifesaver. The hook's design made it incredibly easy to secure my ladder, providing a stable and safe working environment. The wheel feature allowed for smooth movement along the roof, which significantly reduced the effort and time required for the installation. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient ladder hook for roofing projects. just wish they told me it comes in pairs, I ordered two and had to return one

Very strong, very heavy
They fit the ladder perfectly and were easy to install. They also work perfectly. Pushing a 12 ft ladder up the roof is made very easy with the castors. Then you flip the ladder over and the hooks grip the opposite side of the roof peak. These should be sold in pairs, because they really need to used in pairs (per instructions), and maybe they could be built slightly lighter? They significantly add to the weight of the ladder. The cross pieces on the ends might be improved by making them a triangular shape where two bolts could be used to keep them from rotating unintentionally (and they could be aluminum). On one use, one of the cross pieces, in spite of being bolted very tightly to the hook, got rotated to where it was parallel with the hook instead of being at 90º as shown in the picture. Since the bolt was tight, I had to take the ladder back down to fix the problem. Maybe keeping the bolts slighty loose would prevent that from happening? Professional roof ladders used by firemen don't have those cross pieces, so maybe removing them is a viable solution. However, I think the cross pieces are easier on the roof than the hook points without them.

Strong and functional
I bought one pair of these to try it on my 24 foot ladder. It works very well and is easy to install on the ladder. I will probably replace the aluminum wing nut that holds the hook to the top rung. It may be strong enough as is, but I prefer a stronger nut. Every thing else is very sturdy. Only one con - The wheels will not touch the roof on my 45 degree roof till the ladder is about 2/3 of the way up when raising it from the first story roof. However, with a 45 degree roof it is unlikely other ladder hook will do any better. You just have to be careful not to tear a shingle loose. One word of caution: like any ladder hook, these add some weight to one end and the other end of the ladder is a long lever. This makes the castering wheels prone to let the ladder top travel sideways if you aren't careful. In my case, the 24 foot ladder could get out of control. This isn't a problem as long as you are cautious when raising the ladder don't let it start going sideways. I probably should not have to add this, but stay away from power lines when wrestling ladders and do not step on a rung which is extended past the roof edge or the hooks could swing up. It's a good accessory which adds versatility to my ladder and the ability to raise or lower a platform on roof jacks up or down one rung at a time. I plan to buy another pair of these hooks, one more 24 foot ladder and ladder jacks to make a work platform tomorrow. Recommended.

Provides safety and stability
Solid product. Took me < 15 minutes to get them on my ladder. Once on, they kept my ladder perfect locked in place. My Christmas lights are up and I know now I can use the hooks easily and safely. A couple things worth mentioning. 1. The bolts that come with them could be a hair longer. I got them screwed tightly and they didn't move, but would have been easier with longer bolts. 2. The wheels didn't seem to function very well. Perhaps it was the combination of my roof, the ladder and the wheels. Not sure. All in all, I spent ~ $60 and it was well worth it. I can get on my steep roof with confidence and feel safe. I'd highly recommend these.

It works better as the ladder lies flatter than when connected to ...
Wheels are only usable on a roof you can reach without a ladder from the ground because it is so heavy with both hooks attached. You would not want to handle this ladder with the hooks attached while standing on a ladder, so I removed them and just used the 2 hooks with a Werner, lightweight, aluminum, 16 foot extension ladder. Try using heavy rope to hold the extension ladder rungs to the upper section of the ladder in order to get to the maximum length of the ladder. It works better as the ladder lies flatter than when connected to the lower section. That said, the hooks grabbed well and held securely at the ridge line shingles. No slippage whatever occurred while I painted laying on my side with my body on the rungs to reach the dormer sidewalls. I was also using a full body harness with SS line connected to fall protection retractable device (while setting hooks in place, moving the ladder and during the painting) for back up safety, so I placed the hooks on the roof ridge while having the body harness and safety line attached, as well as moving the ladder from place to place along the ridge line for painting sides of the dormers on a very steep roof. It is absolutely necessary to have a back up safety system when you use these hooks and extension ladder as I was forced to do, so be very focused on having a plan B at all times. The edge of the roof I worked on is 16 feet above my asphalt driveway - wouldn't want to slip and land on that surface from that height!

Great product with one minor issue
First I should say that the product and its construction seem to be top notch. The hook itself gets 5 stars. The problem we had was that the bolt was too short to secure the wingnut. Most of our ladders are the 300lb rated extra heavy duty. They have a slightly larger rung than the 225/250lb. We had to put everything on hold while someone ran to the hardware store and got a longer bolt and new wingnuts. Only cost $4, but thats not the point. Simply adding a bolt with an extra 1/2" would make sure that every person who buys this product can use it without modification. Also, these things are heavy! Two of these on the end of one section of a 32' ladder was a bear. Be careful when running it up to the ridge, if you get a little to the left or right it will take off down the roof. Good luck stopping it, roll it over quick. Overall a great product. Just wish the manufacturer would include quality hardware and save people the headache.

Perfectly met need using standard Werner ladder
These are extremely solidly built; very solid welds, thick steel and well coated. I used two of them on one section of a Werner extension ladder (10 ft section) and it worked perfectly. I thought it would be really top heavy but it was surprisingly easy to handle). It was just the thing needed to complete work on a chimney that is in the middle of a 2nd story roof. Similar to other reviews, I would recommend buying a replacement carriage bolt with a mating washer and nut so you can use a ratchet to get wheel/upper rung holder on really tight (cost about $0.80 for two full sets at Home Depot). In the scheme of things its a nit and with that adjustment this was rock solid and more importantly I was very comfortable up on the roof.

Does the job but some deficiencies
Note that this price is actually for a set, so you only need to buy one. Heavy and strong. The wheel is a bit small so manouvering on the roof is tricky, esp galvanized iron. The wheel also rotates, which you need to keep in mind as the ladder can slide back towards you when angled.

Très sécuritaire, robuste et fiable. Facile à utiliser.
Les fer angles devraient être recouverts de plastique ou de mousse pour protéger le revêtement du toit.

works well
used on a 10/12 roof....(with a personal harness). Product works well (manufacturer says to use in pairs and we did) and felt very secure and safe on this steep roof. We could not find a ladder hook anywhere in NS so we order these from Amazon. sturdy and well made except should have a rubber pad on the foot of the hook so as not to damage roofing. We are going to add piece off an old tire with rivets. It would also help if the foot swiveled so as to adapt to different roof angles. The old ones that we had borrowed years ago had these features.
