Will these work the same as the 440?

These have v-shaped jaws, the 440 has flat jaws. These are better for round things like pipe although I use my 440 for pipe...

A good oiling will prevent rust. I use WD-40 on my tools after using them. They are steel, yes they'll rust.

It is much bigger than needed for my p-trap nuts. With it adjusted to the largest setting, and the handles closed, the V gap between the jaws is 2.5 inches wide.
