CoverTec GlazeGuard Satin Grout Sealer & Tile Sealer | 4 oz Sample Kit Size

So I bought this fun, playful, peel and stick tile with stone composite surface on Wayfair. The pictures depicted it on the floor, with furniture on top, so I assumed it was, um, floorsafe. Big mistake. When it arrived, the surface seemed really fragile, so I read the small print, and it said suitable only for walls. Yikes! It was going to be too hard to try to return it (had, like, 20 individual boxes) and we needed tile pronto in this bathroom. “How bad could it be?” my partner asked. (Spoiler: very bad.) I installed the tile and grouted between, for looks and strength. It looked great, but, predictably, the tile picked up nicks and scratches from even light activity. I started to panic. Asked at Lowes if they had any product to super-seal the surface of crappy tile, making it unscratchable, and they said no one makes that. I searched the internet, and found this stuff being used in industrial settings like kitchens in restaurants. Decided to try it in a last-ditch effort. Wow. The surface isn’t perfect (probably part user error) (even a little dust can easily make it less even), but it sealed the hell out of my bad tile decisions. The floor has taken not a single new scratch or nick. Problem solved. I am amazed and grateful. Pretty simple to apply, and it totally did the trick. If only all my foolish decisions were so easily remedied!

We waited a while to apply this because we were a little intimidated by the instructions. After watching the videos we decided to tackle the job ourselves rather than hiring someone to do it. It took longer than I had hoped but the results are fantastic. Take the time to carefully clean and prep the floor. Once it’s extremely clean, apply the sealer. We were doing a very large area so 2 of us applied the sealer. In fact it might have been better if we’d had a 3rd person but it ended up looking great. My wife did the edges of the space with the small roller from the applicator kit and I used the large roller. Take your time and only prepare as much solution as you can use in just over an hour. We bought the semi-gloss and the floor has a nice sheen. The floor looks “wet”. I can’t imagine how shiny the floor would be if we’d used the high gloss finish.

I like the look of this. Not easy though to get a smooth finish. If not done right you will see your flaws.

We live in the UK but had to order from US as no distributor available here. We had patio tiles laid in the bathroom a few years ago to provide a non-slip floor for our disabled parent. Unfortunately we discovered the tiles were really difficult to clean as the rough surface ripped mops and cloths. We ordered this product in the hope that it would smooth some of the roughness. It arrived on time and once mixed was really easy to apply. Only downside was that there no measurements on outside of bottles so you could check how much to mix. Finish is lovely and shiny - and cleaning the floor has become a much easier chore.

I just had my family room/kitchen retiled in a beautiful 2x2 porcelain tile. The finish of the tile though was very matte like and we decided to get a glossy seal, for protection and looks. Settled on this product. Watched videos, read reviews for tips, read paperwork. Preparation to make everything absolutely clean and make sure you only clean with water. When you apply this, it goes on as a wet look, then turns a hazy white pretty fast. The problem is that unless your apply exactly the same amount of product everywhere, it looks streaky, and my floor now doe slook very streaky where in some places there is thicker amount of product than others. When i applied, i did exactly as instructed, had someone go around edges with microfiber mini roller, as i applied with full sized microfiber roller. Loading up the roller and rolling off excess before applying. rolling into groutlines then the rest of the tile as i worked 4 2x2 tiles at a time. The result is everything is the same wet and shiny, goes glazy white, but then 12 hours later incredibly streaky. You cannot see where you put more product than elsewhere until its too late. How you can get this right i do no know, as you cannot just apply a second coat like you would if you were painting. First you have to sand everything and cleanup. Sanding 400 sq feet ! Now i will have to get a professional in to fix this. UPDATE: I was a little hasty in my original review. Yes it is not so easy to work with, but i was working too fast when applying to my floor, as i was concerned that the product gets sticky on the roller too quickly. Result was i didnt apply enough product in many places. I took the trouble to sand a 4x4 area of tiles down lightly as directed, and reapplied, this time taking time and ensuring everything was nicely covered. Came out very sweet. Course, i now have to sand down the other 290 sq feet and buy some more product. Also its totally a 2 person job, one does the edges right before you then roll over and blend with the edge as you go round. UPDATE: 7 months after i did this, the grout in most places is black and no easier to clean that if it were unsealed. But disconcertingly in a few high traffic areas, small spots have, i assume, peeled off because there is no product in a couple of tiny areas heavily travelled. I can only assume this will get worse over time.

very durable used over matte finish porcelain tile ( mistake to get that for a floor- shows every bit of dirt) This sealer solved the problem - floor looks good , easy to clean Made a mistake on the sheen -pay attention to that on the product

I have tried everything to prevent my porcelain tile from getting stained and nothing ever worked until I used this sealer. It solved all my problems! No more scrubbing with abrasive cleansers and pressure-washing--all it needs is a damp mop to clean up. The floor looks good even with four large dogs tracking in mud and dirt everyday. Plus the application is really easy! I also appreciate that it is water-based for easy clean-up, and has low VOCs so you're not breathing in toxic fumes. Great product--the only reason why I gave it four stars instead of five is because I expected the satin finish to have a more subtle sheen--but the finish is actually very glossy and wet looking. The sealer will make the grout darker as it said it would, so I wish I had touched it up with a much lighter grout before sealing. Overall very happy!

Excellent product. Worked exactly as advertised. Has allowed the beautiful rich grains and colors of our porcelain "wooden" tile planks to come out. With the GlazeGuard now applied, the dull rough, surface of the tiles has been made smooth and shiny. Since this is day one after the product application, do not know how durable it will be. That review will be made at a later date. One suggestion is that Cover Tec should provide sample photos/swatches on the website of what the Wet Look, Gloss, Satin and Matte finishes look like. Even though we love the final look of the floor, we thought our selection of a Satin finish would have been a little less shiny. Makes us wonder what the Matte finish would have looked like. Overall, super product. Would recommend to others needing to find a product that provides a nice luster to dull tile.

Went on easy and initially looked good but started to peel in less than a month. I applied it as directed. Tried both the flat and satin finish. I wouldn’t recommend this product.
