Works great for cleaning up windshield with rubbing compound and several other things

I've used Rhodes American Grade #0000 steel wool for several woodworking and metal polishing projects, and overall, it's a great product. The ultra-fine grade makes it perfect for applying wax finishes, buffing out minor imperfections, and giving that final smooth polish to wood and metal surfaces. It really brings out a professional-looking finish without scratching or damaging delicate materials. The 12-pad pack is convenient, and the pads are easy to tear into smaller pieces when needed. I especially like using it between coats of polyurethane or when cleaning antique hardware. My only complaint—and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5—is that the pads wear down pretty quickly, especially if you're using them on larger surfaces or tougher materials. They also tend to shed a bit, which means cleanup can be a little annoying. Still, for finer detail work and light finishing jobs, they do an excellent job. Definitely a solid addition to any toolbox—just keep in mind they’re best for precision and final-stage work rather than heavy-duty scrubbing.

We love using this for Window Cleaning. I’ve made the the mistake of using 000 steel wool and this sets you up for lots of scratched glass because it has more abrasiveness than the glass. This product is great because it is really fine and soft and you can easily massage the product into whatever debris is on the glass and remove it so it is spot free and scratch free. I like to do it in circular motions, and always have the glass wet to decrease the chances of scratches. If you’re working on your own house, usually you can get away with just two maybe three steel wool pads/time. You should use it with other things like chemical to breakdown, hard water if needed or a window scraper as needed. The stable pads don’t have much use after a day because they begin to rust. If you do use it past the day, make sure that you move anything that appears to be rusty and shake it out really well. The downside of it is that since it is rust, it does tend to stain really well and so be really cautious when using it for window cleaning, because many windows have white vinyl and it shows really easily on the vinyl and it’s hard to get off once it sits there for a while so you’ll want to make sure that you clean up the frame really well After if you’re using Rusty still. My opinion is it’s not worth it to use Rusty steel wool

I have struggled with terrible hard-water stains on my house windows and car windows for decades and tried every product on the market without much success. In desperation, I even tried 3M Scotch Brite pads and RUINED a car window with extreme scratching that turned it into a solid haze of frosted glass! Make no mistake, it takes a whole lot of effort and hard work to remove serious hard water deposits. Many products claim to work but do very little, and some only mask the stains temporarily with waxes. Furthermore, every product requires substantial pressure and lots of scrubbing. A heavy buildup can take an eternity to remove. It is tempting to use abrasives, but they WILL scratch glass! This 0000-grade steel wool removes mineral deposits from glass fairly quickly and effectively. But if you have years of heavy build-up, it's still going to take hard work to get it all off. I had a sprinkler system watering my windows twice a week for years, and that level of build-up is pretty severe, but it was still possible to remove with this wool and lots of scrubbing. However, note that this wool may leave extremely fine scratches that MIGHT be detectable, but only when the sun's rays are almost parallel to the glass surface. Even then, it won't look like a haze of scratches, but more like a few threads of fine spider web on the window. Cerium Oxide is a glass polish that can remove fine scratches and mineral deposits extremely well, but it takes so much time and hard, messy work to remove heavy mineral deposits. This 0000-grade steel wool gets the deposits off more quickly, and Cerium Oxide can polish out any microscopic scratches that may be left... if you're even able to detect them. (Cerium Oxide was able to resurrect the car window that I ruined, but it took many hours of exhausting machine-polishing).

Hard to find in stores. Used to remove cooked on food on a ceramic top stove. Gently removed with no scratches. Good product.

The image speaks for itself. There was a patch on the crash bar that cannot be removed with normal polish or even micro abrasive chrome polish. Only took me 30 sec to remove it with this steel wool and without scratches.

This product did not impress me at first, but after I used it to remove the rust from my old dustbin, it looked brand new and was scratch-free. This steel comes to mind whenever I see something that needs some TLC or has rust on it.
