I just received this product and noticed that it gives off an unpleasant odor when running. Has anyone else noticed an odor and does it go away?

I purchased a unit in July 2020. I have not been able to solve the chemical odor (slightly sweet smelling chemical) issue and have contacted the company twice. They sent me a new replacement filter that also had an odor problem. I contacted them again to see if I could get to the bottom of the issue, assuming that others had contacted the company with the same issue and they knew something by now, however the rep said that she had not heard of this problem. She sent me yet another filter, which I just installed today. The smell has not filled the my room yet, but I can already smell it when I get close to the fan. I will run for 48 hours just in case it is temporary (I hope). I hope that this problem could be solved. This was an expensive unit and I have not been able to use it without the smell. I'm well past the 30 day Amazon return window.

Unit's chemical odor?

We have had the Pure 211+ for several years now and they help greatly with the air quality, especially wildfire smoke. We replace our filter every 4-6 months, depending on need. In my experience he chemical smell typically only happens with a new filter, i.e. when using for the few of days, and then fades. Our solution is to run it continuously for a couple of days in a room we don't much (guest room) after we've put in a new filter.

Can this filter voc's?

There is a ring of carbon on the inside of this filter specifically to help filter out VOC's.

Does this emit Ozone?
