Any thoughts on being able to reuse the product, ie, dump the water out or place in oven on lowest heat setting and evaporate the moisture?

The other answers are so ignorant and wrong I had to add my own.

Based on the MSDS sheet, and not the ignorant "it's made of chemicals, therefore probably harmful, so no, even though I have no clue hur durr", it's primarily anhydrous calcium chloride, with some potassium and sodium chloride as well.

Anhydrous calcium chloride is commonly used as a dessicant (a drying agent) in the lab, and can be regenerated quite easily. The problem in this case is that the temperature needed to do so is about 300C, which would melt the tub it comes in. So, if you dump it into a pot, and put it in your oven at 300C (~575F) until is dry again, you'll be able to reuse the contents again. Just google " Calcium Chloride Dessicant" and look up the MSDS for the product if you need more information.

Is it enough just to remove the top lid?

Yes, remove the plastic lid from the DampRid Hi Capacity Bucket and place it on a level surface in the area you want to use it. The air permeable paper cover will allow moisture to reach the crystals but will prevent the crystals from spilling out and keep the liquid from sloshing out when it is time to discard or replace it. I see a lot of shipping issues people are reporting. Being shipped upside down, and the seals breaking. Has this been addressed?

The container is intentionally put in the box and shipped upside down to keep the calcium chloride in the tray so that it will not mix with the corn cob mixture.
