Solid little skimmer
I ordered this for a clownfish tank I'm setting up. Seems pretty good quality. The box seems very professional. Usually with "Amazon specials" you get a random box that feels thrown together but the packaging was very neat and seemed well thought out. The skimmer itself seems like a solid construction, I wasn't worried about breaking it during assembly. I like that it came with a controllable DC pump which, for the price point, is uncommon for comparable skimmers. Tried it out on my main system, which although it's undersized for, it worked well and pulled out skimmate like it should. My sump has a rim but I was able to hand it off of one of the baffles and get it dialed in. The venturi from the pump to the collection cup seemed weird at first and I thought would make it a pain to clean the cup but there's a drain valve for the cup included so you can drain it easy without having to remove it. I might try and find a way to quick disconnect the hose in the future but for the price, that being my only gripe, I wont complain. An equivalent skimmer from the big name brand manufacturers would cost double what this one costs. The small form factor is pretty impressive as well.

Very nice!
Great little skimmer, fits perfectly in the back of my AIO chamber and started skimming excess nutrients within 24 hours. A little tricky to adjust and get set where you want it but once you do, works great. Love the feed mode. The only thing I would change is where the collection cup could come off without detaching the airline, however there is a waste tube at the bottom of cup to make for easy emptying into a container. Also within 48 hours or so the micro bubbles were almost non existent. Video is within 24 hours of set up so still breaking in. Great skimmer and great customer service!

Manufacturer support is responsive and helpful.
I bought this skimmer 11 months ago. It broke in quick and runs like a champ. It's been skimming great for my 65 gallon reef tank. Last week the pump stopped working, and the controller started giving an "E7" error. I contacted the manufacturer here on Amazon and they immediately sent out a new pump. I've been in this hobby for years. Everything fails eventually, but how the manufacturer handles it makes all the difference. I give it 5 stars for both the performance AND the support.

Piece of Junk, don’t waste your time
I have gone thru two of these units. First one was purchase new and received used. It wasn’t evern cleaned and covered in salt creep still. Second unit I got set up and was working great for two days. Then the controller for no reason, just stopped working. Pump was working fine and outlet was fine, controller just turned off and never turned back on again.

Awesome protein skimmer for medium sized tanks!
I own and operate a local youth facility. We have a 65 gallon reef located in the lobby area and some much larger tanks throughout the facility. We ordered this protein skimmer specifically for the compact size and controllable DC pump. This protein skimmer is replacing an old Coralife protein skimmer in a 65 gallon reef tank. Packaging - The protein skimmer was packaged extremely well and arrived promptly via Prime shipping. Provided in the packaging is the skimmer body, the collection cup and lid, waste valve, the pump, the controller, the power adapter, a soft air line, a soft waste disposal line, noise reduction feet, plastic mounting screws, and adjustable mounting bracket. All items were individually wrapped and packed firmly into a foam shock absorbing container that fit into the cardboard display box. Assembly - I had no issues in assembling the protein skimmer. It was pretty straightforward. The collection cup and lid simply twist locked into the skimmer body with secure tight seal. The pump output slid directly into the bottom of the skimmer body. The air line slid into the outlet located on the collection cup and connected directly to the intake of the pump. The waste line and valve connected to the outlet of the collection cup. The pump attached to the controller with a water resistant fitting that screwed firmly into place locking in an O ring to shield the connection from water. The power adapter plugged in directly to the top of the controller. I was very pleased with the ease of assembly. Installation - Upon removing the old protein skimmer, I was able to simply place the new skimmer into the chamber next to the systems roller mat. I was able to adjust the height of the water in the skimmer using the adjustable sliding mounting bracket that is attached to the skimmer body and then secured it in place with the plastic screws provided. The water outlet is adjustable with a simple turn of the skimmer body. I was able to adjust the amount of air coming into the pumps venturi by loosening a plastic screw located on the collection cup lid and moving the air intake slider slightly. The power of the pump is easily adjusted by pressing the intensity button with a power range of 1-10. The pumps power cable was plenty long enough to run the cabling to the far end of the aquarium cabinet where my other controllers are mounted. All that is left to do is simply plug it in. Installation was completed in under 10 minutes. Operation - The protein skimmer runs completely silent. I was surprised at how quiet it is. It is definitely better than the airy gurgling sound of my old protein skimmer. Tuning was simple. I run the skimmer at a power of 7 with full air and about a 10% decrease in water outlet from the skimmer body. The controller has a feed timer as well that is convenient especially if you were to have the pump located in the display (my skimmer is located in my sump). I was amazed to see that the skimmer had started producing dark skimmate so quickly. After the skimmer has had time to set in I will adjust the settings to run dry skimmate. Overall I am extremely happy with the operation of the skimmer! This protein skimmer is everything that I was looking for in a top quality product. Very pleased with my purchase! I highly recommend!

Cheap price, however...
While this is decent quality, especially for the low cost, it is VERY likely to give you an error code (eventually). With that, I was able to disassemble the pump part on the bottom (as I do for cleaning), clear out any debris, and restore it to full functioning. A note on that though, while it's apparent how it fits back together it is a little bit fiddly and requires a bit of finesse. If you are not at all handy I would steer you away from this unit. If you are somewhat handy it's kinda worth the cheap price tag.

Great skimmer so far
It has been installed for just over 1 week now and has been working great. You can see there is a good amount of dark smelly skimmate already collected so it is definitely working. It was a fairly easy set up, just follow the instructions, took about 15-20 minutes from box to tank. Then about a day or two of adjusting air intake vs. water dump to get the level right. Keep in mind you will have to tinker with this to your specific tank to ensure bubbles are just barely reaching the cup. The convenience of the dump valve is nice, the included tubing was very short about 6 inches so not long enough to put around the tank and into a dump jar you see in the video. I had to go to the LFS to get an extension (about 3’), just a heads up, that would be my only critique so far is provide more length on dump tubing but no biggie. Cost about 5 bucks, all good. I wouldn’t suggest keeping it outflowing though in case you forget about it and the dump tube will overflow your jar and potentially end up all over your floor. Instead i open the dump valve when the collection cup gets about half full (every 2-3 days typically). This is safer because if the collection cup gets to full and over flows it just goes back into your tank instead of all over your house. Just a tip. Overall great skimmer so far. By the way I have it on my 25 gallon water box nano with a 20 gallon refugium as shown in video so 45 gallons total water volume, but this skimmer is rated at 80 gallons. And it is also very quiet

Great little skimmer
I waited a week to see how the skimmer performed to write a review. The thing works great and I have no complaints. The collection cup is on the smaller size but with the drain line you can easily leave it open to drain into another disposal container. Out of the box it was easy to assemble, but I have a few years experience in saltwater setups. The unit felt sturdy, the collection cup twist locks on top and has a drain line which is important if your running a large bio load. I'm using it on a 40 breeder with a 20 long sump. The skimmer won't hang on the side and as per the description it's for a rimless tank or sump. But I simply 3D printed a mount for it. I'm impressed with the little skimmer, cost comparison to other name brand skimmers, it does the same job at a fraction of the cost. The DC control means you can use it to help dial in the skimmer which makes tuning so much easier. I had it skimming well in just a few days, minimal break in time. I would recommend anyone needing a skimmer to go with this over the more expensive units. I'll update this review if anything else pops up down the road.

Great AIO Solution - Efficient and quiet. Fits the Innovative Marine AIO 50
Skimmer came well packaged in closed cell foam. Individually wrapped pieces. As with all equipment a good rinse and wipe down should be conducted before use. There was some sticky residue from the plastic wrap present on the plastic. With normal skimmer installations I usually 'break it in' with some dirty tank water and vinegar. It helps build up a bacteria film in the skimmer which helps with bubble production. Do this for at least 12-24 hours prior to skimmer installation. To fit in the filter compartment of the Innovative Marine AIO 50, I had to remove the 2 levelling screws on the back of the unit which wouldn't be used anyways since it's a snug fit and the hang on bracket isn't used. For the first day or two, set the skimmer on low, and let it break in further before really trying to dial in the skimmer. Within a day, it was producing a decent wet skimmate. The air intake adjustment didn't seem to do much, but for a simple drop in solution, the pump intensity is all the dialing one should need with such a skimmer. Quite impressed with this IOAOI Skimmer!

Excellent skimmer, especially for the price.
I run this skimmer x 2, on my 125 gallon reef. And i am very happy. It cleared a new set up in 12 hours - crystal clear water by pulling out about 7 gallons of skimate and then has been pulling about half a liter per day combined. The bubbles are relly fine, dont travel out of the skimmer. I am draining mine into a bucket, but it shuts of when the cup is full so it doesn't overflow, if that's how you chose to hook it up. It is very consistent once set up. Easy to clean. I have a 3rd unopened one, that is sitting to the side, if one of the other 2 breaks because I don't want to change to another brand. The only thing that i would say is, that for rimmed tanks you have to be handy to set it up. I had to grind the bracket to make it thinner so it fits over the ledge of the rim, and i had to trim the rim where it flares out to put the bradket over it. Also i had to repurpose one of the provided bolts to keep the skimmer perpendicular to the bottom. But well worth it. Ideally they need to provide a bracket for rimmed tanks or to make it adjustable like the fluval nano skimmers.

So Quiet!
This skimmer is fantastic. During setup I think I exclaimed “oh wow!” and “oh that’s cool!” a dozen times. I’m used to old-school cheapie skimmers in previous reef keeping experiences and I can tell you this one is way beyond that in functionality, ease of use, quality of materials, and omg it’s SO QUIET!!! I’m very pleased. I was skeptical and going to purchase the popular expensive brand out right now but decided to take the chance here and invest more into other start up areas. So glad we did!
