As a technofobe I can certainly recommend this product as it seemed to set it's self up with very littkle imput from me. Great!
Before I start let me just say that technical I am not so if it works for me then it will work for anyone. I purchased this to use with my LG 4K 3D smart TV and it works extremely well. The up scaled DVD/BluRay films look excellent and I was blown away by the 3D picture generated from the 3D Blu Ray disks. It was so easy to set up that even I could do it (which is a first) and the large number of apps it comes with as well as the ability to show photos from your computer on the TV screen, have made it a very good choice of player. Great value.

Excellent Blu-Ray player with "Smart" apps
Wanted a smart blu-ray that could still play old dvds. And it does. Setup is a doddle, plugging in LAN cable and HDMI cable (not supplied so got Amazon basics one for couple of quid) changed the source on my TV and it worked straightaway playing discs I thought were scratched and would stop on my old player. The smart part is good for the catchup services of BBC, ITV Hub and Youtube. What I don't like is that I haven't been able to change it to all regions dvd - the hack codes posted on the net don't seem to work. Bought my first blu-ray disc (Star Wars Force Awakens) and OMG it is stunning in colour depth and sound. So very happy.

Very happy with the DVD player and the ability to play ...
Very happy with the DVD player and the ability to play from storage (which is super easy to manage). However, I'm so upset with the web browser. Absolute shambles, slow beyond belief and quite frankly some of the worst software I've ever had the misfortune of encountering. It's an utter waste of time. DO NOT buy this product if you are going to be reliant on it for web usage - you may as well go back to 1995 dial up!

Samsung sliced of fried gold
Fantastic smart wifi blu ray. Great price for 99 quid including delivery. .. matched richer sounds price for the exact same product. It's been tried and tested now and works brilliantly up scaling dvds to a high standard and the blu rays look excellent. Streaming from bbc I player etc with hd and looks good too. Good product and it has an optical out for audio none of that analog copper crap for ur whole signal......those of us in the know, know we only use coax for bass to the subwoofer this product is great and ticked every nox and it runs nice and quiet too.

Does what I want very well, well did !
Purchased to go with matching Samsung TV,plays discs well and the upscaling is very good on older DVDs, not really worried about the wi fi element which is just as well because I totally failed despite trying everything to make a connection ?, in normal circumstances would have returned the player, but this is a non problem for me, but would not be for others. I like the simple menus and am generally very pleased, the only practical thing that I don't like is the top play arrangement, yes I know you get used to it, but when staked with little room for access it is a bad design, fortunately my large Target Hi Fi stand gives me the room most other don't and it would be better on a top shelf. Added Jan 2016, machine started to play up three months ago and has now refused to play anything, this is the first time I have had a total failure of an electronics item so not a happy bunny as it is out of warranty and I never did like the top on/off control disc which has now been changed, purchased a frill free Sony player no set up problems and half the price for the same job.

Not up to Samsung's usual standard...
I am huge fan of Samsung gear, currently I have two Samsung phones and two HD widescreen TV's. I currently have a Samsung 3D Blu-ray player that's about 3 years old so I went for this Samsung Blu-ray to match my new Samsung TV. Sadly this BD Player is quite poor compared to the one it was to replace. I have to agree with the reviewer who said this unit is poor in comparison to previous Samsung players. It is flimsy and insubstantial and very lightweight physically. I agree with another reviewer who found the USB cover lightweight and likely to break easily. The previous player had a "screen" button on the remote that could increase the screen display on Blu-ray 2.40:1 aspect ratio films to almost fill the screen without the black bars top and bottom and maintain the correct aspect ratio. This player has a "screen" button on the remote but DOES NOT adjust the picture on Blu-ray discs at all. The manual is quite confusing in this respect and is most unhelpful. I have sent this unit back for refund as it is not fit for purpose. I have gone away from Samsung for a Blu-ray player and obtained a Pioneer BDP-450 for £159 which has a fantastic picture quality and hugely improved surround sound. It's a bit old school, being quite big and solid but it plays everything with high quality and for only a few quid more is a fantastic piece of kit.

Using it as a media renderer, and it works well
I am actually using this more as a “media renderer” than as a BluRay player. I like to stream content from my PC and my NAS to play over the TV and hi-fi. This Samsung fits the bill, but I imagine any DLNA box would also do so. Plugged in HDMI to TV, optical cable to hi-fi amplifier, and ethernet cable to the router. I find everything works better wired; this may just be my broadband connection. As a renderer, the Samsung is much more responsive than my old WDTV Live box, which has been getting slow and unreliable. The Samsung recognises my sources and plays content very quickly. I'm particular about playing music tracks on an album in the correct order. Samsung out of the box doesn't do this; it sorts tracks alphabetically by title. This is apparently a known issue with all DLNA devices. Fixed this problem for my Synology NAS by configuring the Media Server application; there's an option to display audio by artist, title, and track numbers. For my other PC content, I installed Serviio as a media server. You could use Samsung Link to do this, and indeed the product encourages you to do so, but I found this service slow and over-complicated. I dislike having to create accounts for everything. Serviio worked best for me as one of the free media server downloads, though others are available (Universal Media Server is also very good). Serviio is agnostic about file formats for audio and video; more agnostic than Windows, at any rate. It also retrieves and exposes lots of metadata, including track numbers, so Serviio solved the track order issue for me. Serviio doesn't downsample your high-resolution content, e.g. flac audio, so you should get the full lossless experience when you listen. Not yet sure how it performs for HD video, but early results look great. Navigation is the next issue. The Samsung folder interface for this streamed content is certainly browsable, but a bit clunky. If you've got a tablet or smartphone, just install a suitable app; Bubble UpnP works very well for me. It recognises, and remembers, the Samsung and all the libraries. The last thing on my wishlist is gapless playback of audio, which apparently is also on the lists of many other customers. The acid test for success is segued albums, like "Dark Side of The Moon". This may not even be a Samsung issue. The impression I have is that few media renderers or servers are able to support gapless playback. It plays DVDs and BluRays too (NB - not region-free).

Waw super
