Solgar DLPA 500 mg (DL-Phenylalanine) Vegetable Capsules - Pack of 50

I have a very specific reason for taking this product as I look to address very specific elements of nutrition for my mental balance. This is the combined version of Phenylalanine and I believe can only be made in a lab in this form. This is a supplement you need to research and take care with! It is way too complex to explain in a review, and I am not a doctor or nutritionist. I would avoid taking the word of blogs that often speak brilliantly of supplements, only to find there are reasons to not take certain supplements. This will vary from person to person. Please take good care, and don't assume a supplement will be safe for you. There are peer review sites, more medical/research-based sites, we can't link to them in reviews but I strongly recommend making this a habit when bringing any new supplement into your regimen. As for me, and this supplement? Working great for me so far! Appreciable difference in mood and concentration. I will not be taking this regularly, just on the occasions when I feel that this is what I need. Absolutely five stars from me. I will be sticking with this brand of DLPA. I've been suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome (ME) for about 3 years and have tried all sorts of vitamin supplements, homeopathic and prescription meds. I've always eaten healthily and well and yet have felt so disappointed that the quality fuel I put into my body somehow doesn't translate to good health and energy. I stumbled across an article about the importance of amino acids in general and how this one also affects brain chemistry and decided to try it, since I had just come off my antidepressants as well. It has had an incredibly powerful effect on me, starting from the first day I took it. I'm energetic, focused on things again, enjoying exercise without needing days to recover, my sinusitis has vanished as has my constant lower back ache, I'm not craving sugary foods and I'm starting to feel interested in men again!! I don't normally write reviews but absolutely had to share my positive experience with this product. Word of advice; don't take too close to bedtime and do not forget to eat plenty of protein. The DLPA will go directly to your muscles as well as your brain and will need protein in order to do it's job. Good luck!

Made absolutely no difference whatsoever. My husband and I both tried it for 6 months.

Love this! Take it on an empty stomach first thing in the morning for depression along with Tyrosine, then immediately go for a run or excercise to get out of breath, this helps the effects last much longer! I got this awesome advice from ‘balancing brain chemistry’ from Peter the owner who has used it to treat himself, and it’s ideal if you don’t respond to normal anti depressants that just boost serotonin. If you have the type of depression where you can’t motivate yourself and suffer apathy and dead feelings, this will really help as it boosts dopamine (so also good for focus for ADHD which I also have, it clears your head!) it definitely works longer with some form of excercise but read up on Peters site for the full scientific reasons why (he can explain it much better than me!) I also take 5-htp with B6 at night, along with GABA for anxiety, that combination seems to stop early morning anxiety attacks and B6 helps this product work better too! Just generally life saving, and best of all - it works within an hour! (I take two) Highly recommend if you have tried everything else but can’t shake off depression! Feel better soon! :)

I use Solgar DLPA 500 mg capsules to help with focus, and they’ve been quite effective. They’re also really useful if you’re withdrawing from caffeine, providing some extra support during the process. Overall, a solid supplement for both enhancing focus and managing caffeine withdrawal. I’m pleased with the results.

I have ME/CFS and I was hoping this might help with energy. It did make me feel more alert but to the point of feeling jittery and agitated. It made me feel as though I could do more when in fact I didn't have any more energy, which made it more difficult to pace without overdoing it. One unexpected benefit was that it reduced my appetite. It might suit some people but I would say be cautious if you're not in good health.

I'm sure the product is good but not for me.

Waste of money, waste of time, did nothing for me, I was expecting to be wide awake, switched on and not making simple mistakes at work, it didn't work, I also took them with L - Tyrosine Extra Strength as recommended and they still done nothing. Don't waste your money on these.

I get headaches and migraines - take imitrex for migraines and this supplement has not triggered either. Gives a nice clean energy boost.

Ich fühle mich wesentlich ausgeglichener und kann endlich wieder besser schlafen. Ich nehme dieses Produkt (1 Kapsel pro Tag) bereits seit einigen Monaten und die Wirkung ist unverändert gut. Bleibe dabei!
