We lost our precious dog of nine years on Christmas Eve. My son, 6 years old, opened this Perfect Pet the next day, and though we could have never have planned it that way, it has been so helpful for him as he grieves this loss. He was so delighted to receive this pup and they are inseparable. The quality is very good and the pup looks very real. The breathing tummy is amazing and really adds to its life likeness. I wish it made a soft snoring sound - it does have a bit of a clicking noise with its breathing, but it’s not too loud. Overall, we are very impressed and “Toby” has been a hit with the whole family. It is a gift that can be enjoyed by all ages. The cute size is perfect, too. I’ll come back to speak on durability since he’s so new - but so far, so good. Thankful for this toy that came at just the right time.

This puppy looks real!! I bought it for my mother with Dementia. She carries it around and holds it in the bed that came with it all day. She knows it is not a real puppy but tells everyone look it breathes non stop. She loves it and the other patients in the home will pet it and kiss its head. It helps here from feeling alone all the time. Best $$ spent!!

New update: 10-30-2019 For just over three months this dog has been a comfort to my friend's husband. It is on his bed, always nearby, sleeping, breathing and ready for a petting or cuddle. This animated, toy dog is worth all of these updates! Certainly this dog will not be a a solution or comfort for everyone, but I still find it comforting myself to know that it has worked so beautifully for us. I do not see my friend often lately, although I did run into her at the market a couple of weeks ago and she told me that the dog is still working, having been running (sleeping, resting, snoring breathing) all this time, for 13 weeks! If I am remembering correctly, the toy's description stated that the battery would last for six weeks. Well, I think all of us got our money's worth on this item...more than twice what we expected. Great item. End of October update Updaged 07-25-2019 I met my friend today and she was able to report that the doggie was a success. Her husband took to it immediately and never let it out of his grasp. It seems that he is thinking that it is a real, sleeping dog and expressed concern that the people where he lives are not allowed to have pets, and he was reassured that his new dog is perfectly welcome to stay with him. I am sure that my friend and the staff that took care of him yesterday will need to repeat that reassurance multiple times, perhaps even several times during the day, but they all seem to be cool with that. He holds it on his lap and strokes the back/side where the breathing action is located. This is not, nor will it ever be a perfect solution, but it is still a happier beginning than it might have been. Now, this dog is not super expensive, but it is priced reasonably and I managed to squeeze it into my tight budget and I just cannot express how happy we all are with this. If you have a loved one who is having memory, attention or needs something comforting in their life, please consider this dog, I have, since ordering, read most of the reviews and whilst it might not last (the breathing part), I am still glad I took a chance with it. If it does not work for your loved one, maybe it will work for someone else that you know. Updated 07-24-2019 The replacement for this dog arrived yesterday, but I arrived home too tired to fuss with it. This morning, like five minutes ago, I opened the package and the first thing I have to say is that it is not a bad doggie, nor am I a bad me. Bad company that distributes this dog. Bad company. It was clear from first opening that the dog I received a few days ago was not a new, fresh item, but had obviously been one that had been opened and used at some point. Was this a return? Nah, it couldn't be. Right? Well, it was used, handled, returned or some darn thing. The replacement was/is new and fresh and it works perfectly. I have no idea how long it will continue to work, but as of now it continues to sleep :) and noticeably breathes. I have to put it up to my ear to hear the noise of the mechanism, that is how quiet it is. I will be giving it to my friend and she most likely will take it to her husband later today. You know, we have great hopes that this dog will be comforting to him, so if it works, then great; if it does not interest or comfort him, then that is fine as well. Alzheimer's Disease is one mess of a condition and it is impossible to know what will be helpful, or for how long. For me, I am satisfied and wherever this toy/therapeutic dog ends up, we are also hopeful that it eventually finds a person to please, comfort and console. End of update. He arrived. He captured my heart. He broke my heart. 'Cuz he is broken, or maybe he never worked in the first place. I am so sad. I have purchased this dog(different coat patterns) twice before, although not from Amazon. They helped console people with Alzheimer's Disease. Calming, comforting, providing a sense of pleasure and consolation to those who have lost so much to this despicable and demanding disease, not the least of which is the loss of a beloved pet. A friend's husband was recently, and after a year's heartbreaking choices, moved to a nursing facility. It is a wonderful place, all that any family would be happy to have found, but even frequent visits by dogs and cats give only momentary release from missing his own dog, who died in the brief time he has lived away from his home. I know that this may seem excessively dramatic, but the arrival of this broken toy/therapeutic dog is just one more sadness added to the loss with which we are all trying to cope. However, in addition to trying new batteries, I am pulling up my big girl panties, going to go to the library first thing in the morning, printing whatever is needed to return it and hoping for the best in a replacement. I am hoping for a quick turnaround with this. I love the entire Amazon experience. This, thankfully, no one's fault; stuff like this happens. I think I simply want to share that I got my friend's hopes up and now I can't deliver. It is a lesson that I am sorry to have learned.

This little dog is adorable. Looks quite real. I got it as a gag gift for my husband who already has 2 dogs and wanted a 3rd one. I gave it to him for his birthday, He is the perfect 3rd dog. Small, lies sleeping in his little bed, never getting into trouble. You can see him breathing as he sleeps (if you have a good battery in him) My husband loves him.

The only thing is I wish they didn’t make it so rigid. But it suprised me when I pulled the strip off of the battery compartment and it started breathing. The dog bed and brush are really good quality too for the price

It has a hard body, completely un-snuggly. So I guess the point of it is to just sit on the floor or bed? Also, any ideas on how to turn the breathing feature off without completely unscrewing it? It's just kind of loud and annoying. Cute concept but could be so much better.

UPDATE: I was able to return this product with no issues. It is actually a very realistic little puppy. A lot of my kid’s friend’s thought it was real at first. I bumped my star rating up to a 5 star vs my original 3 star just bc the puppy arrived with a few knots in the fur. Not too noticeable but noticeable enough for the amount of money I paid for it. Overall though, it’s a nice product and I can definitely see how this breathing pup can help those with a disability. It’s very calming and relaxing to pet it and watch it breath. My kids have been bugging me for a real puppy though so I thought this would be a good fit since I am highly allergic. However, it sparked their interest for about a day or so and then they were on to the next thing. Therefore, I did end up returning it bc it’s just too pricey to be set aside and ignored lol. Overall, I would highly recommend this product for anyone who suffers from a disability such as a sensory disorder or Alzheimer’s etc. I think this product would definitely help tremendously!! This puppy just arrived today straight out of the box. Although, it is very realistic and well made…. There seems to be some sticky stuff in the dogs fur. None of my children have even touched this yet as I’ve been setting it up and brushing its fur trying to get whatever this is out. From my understanding, this seller doesn’t accept returns. However, please don’t send me a used product then esp for what this cost, I expect it to be in top notch shape

We have another version of this: the black lab. It works perfectly well and my kids handled it with care. It's still breathing away happily! This one we carefully removed from the box, pulled the tab, the motor started up and....nothing. Just some noise, no discernible breathing. That's not the reason for the 1 star. I would have simply returned it and purchased a new one. I went through the returns flow and was stopped because apparently this seller doesn't accept returns. I do see in other reviews that some people said they returned it--I tried on the mobile app, on web, and through a call from customer service. The copy on the site says "unfortunately, this product cannot be returned" and gave me a link to keep shopping or troubleshooting--troubleshooting led to a "sorry that content is not available" message, and call automation said "unfortunately some products cannot be returned" with no other explanation. Luckily, the chatbot worked. It said it can't be returned, but it did credit my account, likely because I buy a ton of stuff on Amazon and don't often return items. If a product's defective, you'd do good by your customers to accept a return, come on now! I don't see any indication of that policy on the listing, maybe I missed it.

This puppy is adorable, soft and looks like a dog I once owned, I wish they made a larger dog.

We had one of your older dogs, 10 or 11 years. Battery rusted, our fault The new dog is better, it only requires one battery instead of two. The bed is different. Overall were happy with the new purchase. We have had so many people ask if it's a REAL DOG! Kids love it.

I liked how realistic the puppy was and my daUghter thought it was the best gift ever!

“Santa” brought this guy for my 9 year old Christmas morning and he loves it. I personally think it could be better. But all and all happy with my purchase because my son loves it!
