The complete ninth season of the American fantasy drama about two brothers who battle supernatural forces. Sam and Dean Winchester (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) were raised to fight the paranormal by their father after their mother was killed by a malevolent demon. Bound together by blood and tragedy, the brothers spend their lives battling a host of spirits, demons and other dark forces. The episodes are: 'I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here', 'Devil May Care', 'I'm No Angel', 'Slumber Party', 'Dog Dean Afternoon', 'Heaven Can't Wait', 'Bad Boys', 'Rock and a Hard Place', 'Holy Terror', 'Road Trip', 'First Born', 'Sharp Teeth', 'The Purge', 'Captives', 'Thinman', 'Blade Runners', 'Mother's Little Helper', 'Meta Fiction', 'Alex Annie Alexis Ann', 'Bloodlines', 'King of the Damned', 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Do You Believe in Miracles?'.Note: The Season 1 to 8 DVD are printed in colour and season 9, 10 and 11 are Black and White. Review: Supernatural season 9 - Excellent, loved every episode Review: AUDACIOUSLY ONWARDS - So far the Winchester brothers (one or both) have been to Heaven, Hell, Purgatory and back. Problems, little things like Armageddon, have sometimes temporarily been placed on hold as they despatch ghosts, vampires and the like, all over the country gullible law officers accepting for real the FBI cards they briefly flash. No need to worry if key characters die. Chances are that they will return. Throughout the past seasons critics have had a great time spotlighting absurdities. Here, in the ninth, there are plenty more. A slip-up by (now ex-Angel) Castiel has caused Heaven to empty, Angels descending like shooting stars to create havoc on Earth. No holds are barred as Metatron schemes for Celestial Supremacy. Meanwhile thoroughly nasty Abaddon determines to take over Hell. As ever, Sam and Dean also find time to deal with more minor problems, geeky Garth again good to see. When all is so preposterous, why for so many (including me) does the show continue to have such appeal? One answer is that, despite all the horror and gore, the repeated heated exchanges between the brothers, it refuses to take itself seriously. So often is tongue firmly in cheek. Example? In the very first episode Dean has the King of Hell in the boot of his car. Another? (Small spoiler coming up!) Oz later features, with Crowley, King of Hell greeting the Wicked Witch, "Big fan. Love your work." (Expect revelations about Dorothy.) 23 episodes, occasionally with unexpectedly moving moments - a death (perhaps for real this time?) greatly regretted, forever to weigh on Dean's conscience. Many bonuses. Disc 1's Comic-Con Panel Session is worth watching before the first episode. It serves as a useful reminder of previous seasons and, without spoilers, prepares for this one. Three commentaries. An interesting look at the brothers' new headquarters, it with quite a history. Chuckles in plenty as Misha Collins (Castiel) guides us round the set (beauty treatment for Dean, Sam hurriedly hiding his wig, an ambitious stunt going hilariously wrong). Detractors may sneer if they so wish. For many, the absurdities help make the show what it is. This does not mean "Supernatural" should simply go on and on (an aim allegedly to beat the "Smallville" record). Even addicts must concede the time fast approaches when Sam and Dean should finally drive off into the sunset, content to have made the world a safer place.

Avatara's review of Supernatural Season 9 DVD set.
Season 9 continues the saga of Sam and Dean Winchester and picks up from where season 8 left off with the Angel's fall from heaven. I am pleased to say that season 9 of Supernatural is as good as it has ever been and the story arc of all our favourite characters just gets better. If you have enjoyed the other seasons of Supernatural then you will not be disappointed with the latest instalment as it is quality entertainment that is well researched and complex in its scope. I can recommend Supernatural Season 9 to anyone who loves interesting, fast paced, well acted and produced Horror/ fantasy or Sci-fi programmes.

Another great one.
This season is smartly constructed, once again : while Sam's fate is at the center of the first half of the season, Dean's future is the second half's. And neither looks good. Sam is dying, and once again, Dean is unable to let him go, making questionable choices and alliances to give him a shot a staying alive, and the consequences pushed them more apart than they have ever been, leading to hurtful words that will have a devastating aftermath. While Sam's on the mend, Dean will make one choice that will jeopardize his whole life and push him toward dangerous territories, forcing his brother to reconsider his position in order to deviate the dark path Dean's on. Another heartbreaking finale, with the promise of an exceptional season 10 ark through the very last minutes of the 23rd episode. Thrilling, nail-biting, heartbreaking and downright stunning : Supernatural doesn't slow down, and we're begging for more.

WHY ARE WE WAITING????
Could not wait for the British release of this fantastic show so I bought an import. We used to get this series the same year it ended in America, usually September, then it was November now it's whenever the satellite channels are finished with showing in on TV, that's total bull. Season 10 has already been shown on US tv and season 11 will begin filming soon, Why are we always the ones waiting for series to be released here in Britain. I'll probably buy season 10 on import as well even though it's more expensive.

Always Enjoyable, but Generally a Flat Season
While I'll always enjoy Supernatural as a series, this one felt really disconnected. There was too much going on, too many opposing main enemies to fight and I found myself longing for and going back to the season where Lucifer or the Leviathans were all that Sam and Dean were up against as a major enemy. I always enjoy the humour, intrigue and generally good story telling that goes on in the other episodes, but this season fell kind of flat with me. The brotherly chemistry that works so well felt oddly absent and the writers seemed to focus too heavily on trying to find way to put distance between Sam and Dean when all I wanted as a viewer was to see what the brothers did best. Bicker and complain at one another, but always supporting one another. I hope that the next season will bring back the Sam and Dean I'm used to seeing, but it felt almost as this season was attempting to "tie up loose ends" in an attempt to close off the series which I hope is not the case. I'd hate to see a program I loved go out with a whimper when it started so strong.

Great Series!
Supernatural just gets better and better! I particularly loved the Dog Dean Afternoon episode with Dean finding his inner dog! Also Castiel without his powers working at the Gas-n-Sip was amusing! I love every episode as you never know what is going to happen next and each episode is like a mini film!
