I live in France - and after 10 years of living in Lyon, I have yet to find a half decent curry. There are so many good recipes in this book, I don't know where to start! All really easy - and no difficult to find ingredients (even in France). I have just made "Mum's Chicken Curry" - utterly delicious - thick, rich and so moorish. It is not just curry mains - there are so many other fab recipes - sides, salads, chutneys. bread etc. I also bought Meera Sodha's other book - "Fresh India". Just as good. I am about to also order a copy of this for my vegetarian daughter. These two books are really all you need to make all the most delicious curries. Mostly, I have get recipes off the interweb, but it is so nice to have these two hard cover books. Beautifully printed with loads of lovely pictures. Love all the anecdotes too - written with warmth and humour. Don't waste your time getting this on a Kindle - you need the books! Review: Easy to understand and recipes that you can easily find ingredients - This book is interesting and has ingredients that you either have or can buy at most super markets . Itโs a really helpful book . The recipes are good as most give you an alternative if you donโt have something fresh in , itโs explains how much you should use in dry ingredients ( Iโve shown this in the photo with chilli ) There is even a page on how to cook the best rice which I found really helpful . I recently bought another popular curry book but found it so complicated and unable to buy some of the ingredients even though I live in a big diverse city . This is book is easy to follow and makes tasty uncomplicated dishes .

Easy, quick and tasty meals every time.
I have over a hundred cookery books, many of them about Indian cookery, but I have always been annoyed by long lists of obscure and expensive ingredients and prolonged cooking times. This one is genuinely different. Every single recipe has easy to source ingredients and most of the recipes can be cooked within half an hour, which is great when you are trying to juggle homework with hungry children after school! I have made several curries and side dishes as well as condiments and all have been worth making again, which is not usually the case with most recipes. Last night I cooked a delicious salmon and spinach curry with coriander chutney and it was so easy. I feel as though I have finally learned how to cook authentic and healthy Indian food and for that, I am really happy, and so is my husband. To top it all off, the recipes are lovely to read, with interesting anecdotes and great photos. Thanks Meera!

Great and relatively easy recipes
Very good recipes (those that I have tried) and usually easy to follow. Also, not too hard to find the ingredients - or at least easy to find substitutes. Many great vegetarian choices and both familiar staples and variations on standards here. Highly recommended!

Sensational!
This book is amazing and has transformed our cooking. We've tried the following recipes: Lamb and mint samosas - took a little practice to get the wrapping right but very tasty and baked in the oven so they're lighter and less oily than regular samosas Aubergine and cherry tomato curry - a winner - easy to cook and great left over dish for lunch at the office the next day - had some very jealous co-workers! Disha's pav bhaji - amazing street food mash of spicy vegetables served on a bread roll Slow-cooked lamb and spinach curry - oh my gosh - the lamb is so tender and delicious King prawns with garlic and mustard seeds - a delicious snack or side dish and so simple to prepare Salmon and spinach curry - a family favourite Caramelised onions and jeera rice - perfectly cooked rice every time Daily dal - we've cooked this so often it's almost become our daily dal! Great for cooking and freezing for times you're feeling lazy Workers' curry - chana masala - delicious Green beans with mustard seeds and ginger - a quick and easy tasty snack - recommended Pomegranate and mint raita - takes the edge off a spicy curry! Roasted cauliflower with cumin, tumeric and lemon - we love cauliflower and this dish is a winner! Our other favourite India cookbook is the Prashad Indian Vegetarian Cookbook Prashad Cookbook: Indian Vegetarian Cooking - we bought this after visiting the Prashad restaurant which blew us away!

Brilliant, simple to follow recipes
Love the variety of dishes and the simple to follow steps in this book. The chaat salad is yummy and goes amazingly well with some tandoori chicken (or the oven baked chicken kebabs in this book).

A Must Buy - Cannot Recommend Enough!
Best book on Indian cookery I've ever bought! Simple, clear, understandable recipes with detailed explanations for things that people who don't do Indian cooking may not understand or know - that's so helpful! Extremely easy methods to follow, Meera's book never leaves the kitchen now! Lovely stories behind the recipes too which somehow make them more enjoyable, especially knowing that these are eaten by Indian families, they really are authentic! I've made 7 recipes so far - all have been delicious but the staple in our house is the Worker's Curry which we are now eating almost every night - I make others and have a few spoons to go with it. Best of all I don't have to have a cupboard full of 100s of different spices using only a pinch of each of them which has happened to me in the past with other Indian cookbooks. This book is a must - I loved it so much I bought one for a friend too

LOVE this book, I just keep coming back to it
I am completely in love with this cookery book. Never before have I cooked so many recipes from a single book. I have made 32 of Meera's recipes so far, some of them several times. Not a single one has been disappointing, and I've impressed many a dinner guest! I just love the bold, fresh flavours, with handfuls of herbs, lots of garlic, ginger and chilli. However the results are often subtle and surprising in flavour. Dishes are not too oily or heavy, with plenty of vegetables and delicious pulses as a great counterbalance for all the meat-heavy dishes we tend to eat. I particularly love the chutneys and pickles and I now always have a jar of coriander chutney in my fridge. Also love Meera's down-to-earth intros with family stories and anecdotes. I've been urging all my friends to get a copy. If I had one criticism of the book it's that it could have more photos, some of the recipes don't have a photo at all so it's hard to know how it's supposed to come out. Hope Meera comes out with a new book soon, I want more!

Even if you've never tried Indian food, you need this cookbook.
I can't rave about this cookbook enough. Where to start? I'd eaten Indian food very few times before cooking from this book--always chicken tikka masala and the occasional samosa. But I'm an avid home cook and heard so many great things about how easy, accessible and fresh these recipes are that I knew I had to try it out. I'm so happy I bought a copy for myself. About 4 months into owning this book, it's already taken a beating and I'm finding new recipes to catch my eye all the time. The rice recipe alone is worth the price of the book--I finally understand how to cook a perfect batch of rice! If you follow Sodha's instructions, you'll never make bad rice again. The Worker's Curry is stunningly comforting, and a cheap vegan dinner to boot. The Chaat salad is mind-blowingly delicious and fresh. The Chili Paneer tastes like the ultimate state fair food I have always dreamed of, except I made it in my own kitchen. My boyfriend and I ate the whole batch in one sitting, shamelessly. The Cilantro Chicken is so quick, easy, and flavorful that I've already made it three times. AND HER ICE CREAMS! Folks, the ice cream recipes are also totally worth the cost of the book. I don't own an ice cream maker, and I don't need to, because Sodha's ice cream recipes are still perfectly rich, creamy and delicious without one. She walks you through how to churn the ice cream by hand, with luscious results. I have a batch of the Fennel Seed Ice Cream in my freezer right now and am already thinking of so many ways her basic ice cream recipe could be customized. All that to say, I truly cannot recommend this cookbook enough. Sodha truly knows how to write for the home cook--there is no pretension or extra, confusing steps here. None of these recipes are difficult and most are quick enough to make on a weeknight. In fact, I'm trying out her Pav Bhaji tonight and I can't wait, because I already know it will be delicious. I'm anxiously awaiting the US release of Fresh India, Sodha's second cookbook, but until then I'm thrilled to work my way through the rest of this lovely book.

This book is a keeper. Beautiful photos. Amazing recipes. I've been cooking Indian food for 20 years. This book is special. So lovely. Well written, and so authentic. Already made 3 of the recipes and dinner with my friends was a real success. The descriptions for every recipe are so kind and sweet. Just as In a Restaurant
I made Pistachio Chicken and Naan and I am in love with it! I am tired ordering Indian restaurant food and I love cooking. The Pistachio chicken that I made is the same as if ordering from the restaurant - I cannot tell the difference! It is absolutely amazing. I will be making it again and again. And, it was easy and creative to make. The Naan is amazing as well. It is much better than from the store. I will be making it again and again as well! And so easy to make. Cannot wait to make more recipes!
