Stuff I've Been Feeling Lately

I paid so little for this and the profits go to a cause close to my heart! But that aside, this is an awesome book. Small enough to carry about and the idea of splitting the book so inspired and unique! Each poem holds its own force and I feel deeply connected to the words. Alicia is a skilled writer and also writes from the heart without editing out raw emotion.

Lovely poetry by Cook, each poem has taken care in it's creation and are beautiful. With each being attached to a certain song when being written - worth the money as the poetry is stunning and would definitely purchase a sequel if it comes about! Only little downside (just my preference) are the pages are the 'floppy' sort, would've been more pleasing if it were made of the typical thicker, white paper as seen in Rupi Kaur's Milk and Honey. However definitely doesn't take away from the beauty of Cook's poetry.

I bought this completely blindly without prior knowledge of Alicia Cook as an author but would definitely purchase more of her work. It was a ​great book in perfect condition.

Firstly, I adore the concept of this book. There's a great juxtaposition between the tracks of side A, which chronicle Alicia's growth and journey of self acceptance, and the haunting 'remixes' of side B. The contrast mirrors the negative voice that exists inside our heads, and is particularly vocal in times of grief and darkness. This book covers several emotional topics - addiction, relationships, and self worth, to name a few. It really does make you consider how you view and evaluate life and the relationships you have with yourself, along with the people around you. It's the perfect book for anybody struggling through something - I read this while going through a break-up and during a particularly bad health patch (due to my chronic disability) which can leave me feeling isolated. I know I'll be returning to this paperback each time I feel the need to reevaluate an aspect of my life.

Amazing amazing amazing, when I read poetry books I mark pages, highlight parts I like and annotate around the poems, I don't think there is one page that doesn't have anything marked, highlighted or annotated

The concept of the collection was interesting but I don’t think it was well executed. Some of the poems from Side A were intriguing, but I couldn’t connect with the majority of them. Some felt like prose more than poetry, to me, some of the poems simply lacked depth. As the author is invested in music, I felt the lyrical quality of some of the poems. Music is poetry after all and vice versa. However, Side B (the erasure poetry) was difficult to read at points due to my dyslexia and eyesight issues. The concept for this section was pretty cool, but I struggled to read the poems and form the links.

I keep coming back to this again and again, the b side is a great idea and brings so much depth

Reading this... you feel understood... Finaly someone who put into words the feelings that leave you numb at times.. it makes you see life differently... for those who had to grief... this is good lecture too.! Same line as words whiskey and a shovel! Love it! Will definitly pay it foward and pass it on ☺

Achei o livro bem diferente

Me gustó muchísimo el libro, aunque la segunda parte del libro sólo son otra forma de ver los poemas pero está muy lindo. Lo compré porque reconocí algunas de las canciones que menciona y me gustó el concepto.

Ein tolles Geschenk. Schöne Gedichte, und die B Sides sind eine tolle Idee der Autorin. Da bekommt man Lust, selbst kreativ zu werden.
