Loved it so much I bought it twice!
Absolutely loved this mechanical pencil, I sadly lost the original one and didn't need to think twice before buying a second one. (I found the first one so now I have two!) The quality is great and the lead is strong but not too brittle. The pencil is not as dark as other HB pencils, which isn't really a problem for me as I use it for technical drawings rather than shading. After about a years use the silver painting on my pencil began to wear away, but that is the only difference between this one and my old one. My only problem with the product is the lead refill. The price of the product is great as the refill on its own is a good percentage of the price of the pen with the refill included. However the little tube the lead is in is not very secure. I left it in a small pencil case and after a few weeks the lid had fallen out and my refills had all been smashed to pieces. I was a little disappointed by this as I had been using cheap lead refills when doing sketches and using the staedtler lead sparingly, and as mentioned before the refills on their own are quite expensive, but worth it considering how many other wooden pencils I would have gone through had I not switched to mechanical.

My favourite Mechanical Pencil
This is my third pencil now of this model. My first one was stolen by my Sister. She had one herself, but she wanted to take mine on a University trip which involved a lot of time out in the field. When she got back, she conveniently lost 'my' pencil and not her own (I had grounds to believe that it was actually her pencil she lost - which I was eventually proved right when she confessed to her crime). Anyway, the tension got so heated at one point that she bought me a new one right there on the spot. I should add that this argument went on for months. I simple wanted a confession. That's how much these mechanical pencils mean to us! With my second copy, we went the distance together. What makes these pencils so great is that they just have this perfect weight and feel. It genuinely feels like quality and it's rare to find all of the graphite broken inside. You can really hit the darker tones of the HB quite effortlessly while being just as able to be used lightly and for speed taking notes. I used my first copy back when I was at University. I had to do a lot of technical drawings of architecture or infrastructure and I can honestly say that it always allowed me to deliver the quality of drawing that I had in mind. My second copy was mostly used for a lot of note-taking and the occasional drawing. My new copy, as displayed in the photograph, is mostly unused for now. I only bought this particular ASIN because it came with the additional graphite. This is only a couple of quid more expensive than just buying the supplies individually - so I figured why not have a backup! In any case, I am prepared this time if my Sister plans on another heist...

Great pencil for quick work or heavy out-lines.
Purchased this pencil to complete my set of Steadlter Marc Micros. Pros - The pencil feels to be of good quality. - The rubber grip is comfortable even for long periods of drawing. - The mechanical action feels nice. - 0.9mm graphite is great for sketching/drawing and breaks much less easily than thinner diameters - The colour coordinated nibs/ends help identifying pencils at a glance if they are in a desk-tidy (more useful than you would expect!) Cons - The rubbers provided with the Mars Micro pencils feel a little lacking. They are certainly less durable than the erasers provided with Pentel counterparts. It also seems replacement rubbers are more difficult and more expensive to source too! - The 0.9mm leads themselves appear to be less readily available than smaller more standard sizes (0.5mm). Conclusion: The negatives to this pencil are small and are vastly outweighed by the positives. In my opinion the Steadtler pencils feel nicer than much more expensive Pentel counterparts.

Not the pencil in the picture, but still good
It’s not exactly the same as the picture. I believe that is an old version of the same pencil. I have that older version and I love it. I was trying to get another. This newer version feels cheaper. The diameter of the barrel is slightly bigger, for me it is less comfortable in my hand. The eraser design is better, it no longer has an extra plastic piece - just slots straight into the pencil. Overall, still a good pencil. I don’t regret buying it but wish I’d bought of the older model all those years ago.

'Yer pays yer money and yer makes yer choice'
I have been using mechanical pencils for many years, working my way through a number of brands, and the Staedtler Mars Micro is the best I have ever had. Its particularly strong features are its lead feed mechanism - which is firm and has never given me any trouble - and the comfortable rubberised grip towards the bottom of the barrel. For what it's worth, the pencil's appearance is distinctive too, and the metal pocket grip doesn't detach itself. I don't remember when I bought my first Staedtler, but think it must have been at least six years ago. I still have it, and have just bought three more, not because of any problems with the original, but because I have gradually lost some others that I had for different places, different pockets, etc. The leads that come with the pencil - sadly only three as a starter - are superior to own-brand replacements from stationery chains. So I have gone back to paying Staedtler's price for 12 Staedtler Mars Micro Carbon 0.5mm HB Mechanical Pencil Lead , which is not much less than at least one chain's price for 40. Even in experienced hands (mine), the latter break frequently; if someone borrows the pencil they get frustrated because the cheap leads break repeatedly. Staedtler leads mostly don't. So yer pays yer money and yer makes yer choice - mine's a Staedtler.

Great Mechanical Pencil.
I bought this about a year ago and used it as my primary mechanical pencil throughout my Uni years. Pros: + Super sleek appearance and build materials. + Ergonomics are fine although a little on the small side (not a chunky pencil). + Lead doesn't break as much (but still does occasionally). Cons: - Not sure how to get rubber replacements. - Sweaty palm users may sweat when using this pencil due to its size. - Lead still breaks sometimes. TLDR; I use this and the Mitsubishi Kuro toga mechanical pencil and I like this one more although it doesn't have fancy lead sharpening mechanisms. That being said, I really only use it because it looks nice and has a premium feel to it. Other than that, it is a reliable mechanical pencil that will get you through Uni days.
