My favourite in car smart phone mount!
This is our second Breffo flexible spider mount, having tried a magnetic vent mounted one and one of the Y shaped vent mounts. Breffo looks lower tech but out performs both. The benefits over the other 2 types are: 1) It wonโt fall off every time you go over speed bumps. If you bend 2 of the arms and wiggle then through the vent flaps it stays put really well! 2) you do not need to remove the phone case to use the holder. This is the only holder Iโve found compatible with a smart phone wallet/flip style case. 3) no stoopid magnetic disk stuck to the back of your phone. Iโm sure they interfere with contactless payment - put it this way, contactless works much better since I took the magnet off! 4) Can mount to dash vents: - No suction cup ring on windscreen - Within easy reach - saver to use SatNav app.

Great product. Probably has a bunch of uses, but fulfills my one
I bought this products specifically to fit into a car, to work as a holder for my phone whilst it's in sat nav mode. Due to the nature of this mount, it's very easy to find a way to make it fit into the air vents, and position the arms so they hold onto a phone securely. However, I would advise being ready to catch the thing on the first drive after mounting, as the weight of a phone can test how you decided to mount the holder. I have managed to fit this securely in 2 cars with no problem, with both requiring slight different orientations due to the movement and placement of the vents. Overall, this is a great, flexible mount that I recommend

A Perfectionist's Nightmare
The spiderpodium, when it comes down to it, is quite a simple idea. And what it does, it does pretty well. I now have two of them (both graphite). My original purpose was for attaching to my bicycle so I could use my phone for gps, etc - which I have since done on occasion. The legs are quite a grippy texture. Once you get it positioned correctly it is very secure, and as long as it's not raining I can't say I worry that much about the fact that a ยฃ350 smartphone is balancing precariously on my handlebars.. Smartphones are getting bigger and bigger, and it is just about big enough to accommodate my LG G2 (5.2" screen) That original spiderpodium is now positioned in the vents of my car so that I can plug my phone in and use it again as a gps, music player etc. Again once set up this works well and keeps the phone securely gripped in place. Even two legs under the phone are enough to keep it in place in portrait. As a bonus I have even stuck an NFC tag to the middle of the spiderpodium which automatically enables car mode and all my car settings when I place the phone in the spiderpodium. However in my car (mazda 6) the vents are round and don't provide as much in the way of helpful points to attach to which does make it a little more difficult to set up. UPDATE - I have since used Sugru to form my own little hooks in the car, which provide a much more secure fix in a more convenient location - but obviously with some extra expense. I have not thus far had any issues with the legs snapping as others have described - perhaps they've ended up with fakes? - My first was purchased directly from breffo and my second directly from Amazon and they are both exactly the same - although there is a rather sad notice that comes in the box telling you the legs might break if you put too much pressure on them, which seems like a bit of a cop out to me. The main con for me is the inherent trade off of ease of set up vs. flexibility. This is the same for all of these kinds of products (I'm looking at you Gorillapod). While it is quick to set up something simple just to stick your phone in, your initial attempt may not be the most stable, or symmetrical, or otherwise aesthetically pleasing. If you can get your legs to be as perfectly straight as they are in all the pictures then you're much better at this than me. You can then sit there for ten or twenty minutes fiddling with it trying to get it in to just the right angle. Then you'll find your new attempt was worse than your previous one.. but in real life there's (unfortunately) no undo button so you have to try and recreate your old attempt and inevitably end up with something not quite as good.... ad infinitum. Then if you want to pick it up and take it somewhere else you lose all your hard work. This does improve with practice but until they invent a real world save button there's not much to be done about it (other than buy lots of spiderpodiums). If you have a use for it then its certainly a useful product that fills a gap. The flexibility of the spiderpodium is not really matched by any other product that I know of. It's just best to buy it if you already have a problem you want to solve rather than buying it in the hope of finding a problem you didn't know you had.

versatile and sturdy to fit any phone size
Really versatile as it can bend round any phone (i have a Sony Experia Z1). Quality material and slots perfectly into the car vent and due to the rubber material, there is very little movement. Also ordered a 2nd one as my wife wanted one. Would recommend paying the price as it is a premium product with premium materials.

Really solid, spider phone stand
I had a cheaper version where the wires passed through a solid rubber center and after a while they just started turning within the center core, no support at all. This one is of a much better design. That hole in the middle means that the wires connect to a core properly. It is very sturdy for my Huawei P30 Por which is a BIG phone. I can tap away at the screen and the stand stays put. Tried it with my 10.5" tablet and it couldn't cope with that though. You could even put a screw through that center hole to support a SMALL camera.

Not sure anything spider-shaped should get 5 stars, however...
I was looking at a few cheap car phone holders before someone at work recommended this. I'm happy they did. An excellent little gadget. Slides perfectly into the air vent and holds my phone comfortably, either vertically or horizontally. Easily takes the weight of my Galaxy S7 with case - even over a few bumpy journeys, it's never slipped. Seems like a very simple tool for the price, but I'll be buying a few more for my family this Christmas as it's very effective.

Extremely useful for in-car use. The original and best.
I've owned several Spiderpodia (OK OK, Spiderpodiums) to easily position my phone in a car near my line-of-sight for navigation. They are fantastic. I travel a lot on business too and sometimes rent cars, so I carry one with me at all times, so I can always use my phone for navigation, whatever and wherever I'm driving. In car satnavs are always rubbish and I can never be bothered to learn their UIs anyway.

Check the postage on costs!
Watch out for the postal costs. Makes this a less pretty purchase with 50% added if you don't buy 2 or have Amazon Prime. Took the edge off a useful product!
